Rather unsurprisingly, given the name, this cute big bistro is located bang slap on Newquay’s world famous Fistral Beach. Don’t be put off as you approach it — yes, that is a rather dingy fish and chip caff downstairs, but upstairs is where it’s really at. The restaurant upstairs is gorgeous — light, airy, all windows and sea views, if you like that sort of thing! The menu is good, and just a little more pricey than you can expect to pay in the town centre. They also offer a breakfast menu at weekends, and there can be few better places to start your day than gazing at the glorious surf of the beach below. It does get very busy during the summer season, so booking is advisable. But do try and call in at least once, if you’re in the town on holiday. It’s an altogether classier joint than some in town, and especially perfect for a special occasion.

there’s suggestion in the local gossip columns that this place is being poached by mr. rick stein, who wants to expand his empire further on the cornish coast.
