Sadly I can only award this business one star. There’s a lot of competition in Newcastle now and it just doesn’t hit the mark in comparison. I went one lunchtime and was initially surprised to find we were the only people in there. Looking around it’s got some quirks and I liked the mismatch furniture so it has potential but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. We ordered a coffee and had to wait whilst someone went to the local shop to get some milk — not the best start. Perusing the menu I was also disappointed with the limited selection… quite obscure and expensive options that didn’t seem to fit with the atmosphere. We were having to try and talk over a young child banging and playing behind the bar in addition to overly loud music which was certainly not appropriate background music. Needless to say we decided to leave and dine elsewhere. Given the options available for dining in Newcastle this is not somewhere I’d recommend as it seemed a bit like disorganised chaos. Maybe they pull out all the stops on an evening but I won’t be in a rush to find out.

This building has one of the nicest entrances and interiors of any in Newcastle, but it’s being run badly. The girl behind the counter was nice enough, but I assume the manager had left her in charge of a child who banged on the bar, shouted and messed about while we were there. We were going to eat but were totally put off. Last time I was in they forgot to remove the lunchtime menu and we tried to order from it only to have to go back and forth to the chef via the waitress. Just a bit badly organised. It’s a «caff» it seems, not a bistro
