Cocktail bar on the quayside… This is a small location on the quayside. With a very well decorated inside. Very stylish and fancy cocktail bars. There are many cocktail bars in this area, so, what makes it a cut above the rest? Nothing. I ordered a fire and sands which is a whiskey and cherry drink. The girl behind the bar was mixing it all up and didn’t know what was supposed to be in the drink. She got corrected twice by fellow co workers. Once she mixed it up and filled my empty glass with ice. She poured what was rumoured to be a delicious cocktail in and the drink hardly touched ¾ full in a glass filled with ice. The girl said it wasn’t her day cause we both laughed. Instead of replacing the drink she just added literally a 1.5 inch orange slice and 2 straws. Nothing made the drink stand out taste wise. It was very standard. The staff coming to the tables to offer more drinks were all really nice. The bar staff were dressed sharp it’s just unfortunate my first impression wasn’t good. I can see the potential of this place. Happy hour offers are good at £4

Oops, having forgot to review here after my first visit, a second rendezvous with other lovely Unilocalers allows me to correct this oversight. So, Tiger Hornsby, an interesting name; quick bit of Googling reveals there is actually someone out there with said name, whom the owner met in London. Well there you go, you learn something new everyday. With its quirky name and good location on Newcastle’s Quayside, I really do like this place. TH is plush and stylish without being overly showy, has a great ambience to it and is a refreshing alternative to the other offerings in the area. Does operate a moderate dress code — gents you’ll be fine with shirt, jeans and decent shoes(ditch the trainers), ladies, erm, not sure what that means for you… Primarily marketed as a cocktail bar, but as someone who is not into cocktails that much I cannot really comment on these fairly. There is a great range of beers on offer, both draught and bottled, these are very good and are served in the proper glasses, which is a nice touch. Prices can vary, some cocktails will leave you little change from a tenner, the beers were just over £3 for a pint, but then this is not your bog standard pub on the corner. Staff are very friendly and attentive, often coming over to the table to check if anyone needed a fresh drink and bringing funky little bowls of snacks(for free) — spiced popcorn, rather nice, not that we got to eat much of it as one of our party(who shall remain nameless) took a real liking to the stuff! The other thing that I really appreciate — and this is clearly a getting older thing — is that the great music they have here is not too loud. So you can actually talk to your friends without shouting too much. Oh, and the first time we were here, there was a DJ with a live sax player, which was superb. Gets busy, especially of a Saturday(that’s the Quayside for you), so if you are planning a visit(which I think you should), it might be worth calling up and reserving a table. Do it soon.

What a lovely cocktail bar this is… a fantastic new addition to the quayside! A classy and sophisticated bar with stylish décor where the little details really make the difference and a relaxed atmosphere. Certainly a great place to dress up and add a bit of glamour to your night. It was my first visit to Tiger Hornsby’s last night and I was so impressed that I think this will now become one of my favourite destinations for drinks. I absolutely loved it! The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, wearing smiles all round. Even on a busy Saturday night they still offered table service which is great… especially when you’re comfortable on one of their lovely sofas! The drinks are pretty expensive to be fair… although we did arrive outside of happy hour so we missed the £4 cocktail deals. That said they have a fantastic selection of drinks available and I cannot wait to try some more cocktails. My only personal dislike was the shape of the wine glasses albeit a tiny gripe and certainly not a deterrent. Slightly quieter than some bars on a weekend, perhaps as it is a bit further along the quayside, but this makes it even more appealing and I think it still remains a hidden gem — long may it last! I cannot wait to return midweek and take advantage of what this amazing bar has to offer. Tiger Hornsby — no getting rid of me now!
