Sugar Down Bakery

After reading about the health benefits of real sourdough bread I went on the hunt for some in Newcastle. It is hard to find it made properly but sugardown make it fresh in their bakery and it’s great. Not only that but I discovered they make the most delicious and moist lemon and blueberry drizzle cake I’ve ever had!

Absolutely fabulous baked goods and desserts from this tiny little storefront bakery. Quite cheap as well — I got to pick three treats for £4 last time, which was a brilliant deal. Their vegan beetroot cake was moist and wonderful, and had me searching the internet in vain for a recipe to try to replicate it. I should really just buy it from Sugar Down and not bother trying! My fiancé’s favorite is the Crack Pie. I honestly don’t know what’s in it besides sugary buttery goodness as he ate it all yesterday, so didn’t get a taste! But he’s had it twice now and loves it. We also got a wonderful peanut butter brownie which was chocolatey rich and had a big yummy swirl of peanut butter running throughout. Fantastic place to get a quick, cheap treat. A million times better than something you could buy at the grocery store, so don’t even bother — just come here!
