The Strawberry is opposite St. James park in Newcastle, its a small traditional pub with Newcastle United themed décor. We both enjoyed our meals from the limited menu Sarah loved the mince and potato in a large yorkshire pudding my mixed grill was good. There were a selection of lagers and ales to choose from but being lunch time we both opted for soft drinks. The pub dissent have its own parking but there are two car parks nearby one word of warning I would avoid the place on match day.

Good pub with good beer! Very close to the St. James Park Stadium and base of the Newcastle United supporters. It’s possible also to watch the international football match as the Serie A, La Liga. Maybe the Champions and Europe League(better call before :))

Very traditional football pub. Great food. I had a great time here and the service is good. The waitress was very friendly and informed me about the history of the place. A friend did tell me that it was the meeting point for football hooligans in the past, but its all cleaned up now.

Unlike the previous reviewer, I tend to avoid the Strawberry on match days, but found it a great spot for quieter mid-week lunches and drinks either after attending university lectures or instead of attending them. This was due mostly to the food, which is incredibly cheap, bountiful, and very good pub grub. Everything from the burgers, yorkshire puds, and the steaks are recommended. You really can’t go far wrong with the Strawberry for a cheap and yummy pub meal. Also try it if you want a nice place to have a banter(unless the footie is on, that is!).

Brilliant bar just across the road from St James’ Park and knocks the soulless Shearer’s Bar in the ground for six in terms of quality and range of beers/food/atmosphere.crack etc. Rammed on match days but so well managed that you never have to wait long for a drink Upstairs terrace now open for the smoking community Toilets could do with a good deodorise thouh

Newcastle institution on match days. Definitely not the place to turn up to in a Sunderland FC top unless you are carrying an organ donor card. The beer here is fine but its really about having a pint with die hard Newastle fans. The pub is 50 yds form St James Park(stadium). Despie my earlier comments I have ever actually sen any trouble in this pub
