The tour of the sage is woth a visit. Some days its cheaper, so you would want to plan accordingly.
There are some really good shows at the Sage as well.

The Sage is a recently built concert hall designed for music, so as expected, the sound in that place is amazing. There are 2 concert halls, a café, and what I believe are practice rooms and so on. The price of tickets varies, but I’ve often found them to be very fair for the amazing performaces you get every time.

This place was built to have great acoustics and it is a great place to come for live music. It is set out on two levels bith of which have good views of the stage. It has live acts such as piano concert, fiddlers and famous singers. There are events on for children and they also have childrens room with music days where they can learn about music, they have lots of group where adults can learn to play as well. The food isnt fantastic and is a little overpriced though there are plenty of tables downstairs to sit at the queues are horrible at the interval.

The Sage stands on the Gateshead side of Newcastle Quay side. You realy can’t miss it. I don’t think it’s a beautiful building just a curious one and one worth looking at just from the outside never mind venturing inside. It certainly has carved a place for itself though and gives the Quayside a certain character.
I suppose the beauty of the Sage is the diversity of what they offer as entertainment. There is anything and everything to see so it’s well worth keeping a look out incase you miss out on something of interest. You just have to visit at least once.

This building whilst not the most beautiful in the area is certainly an interesting architectural piece. Its held some wonderful musical events and is a place of culture.

I can’t attest to the qualityb of performances, the fabulous accoustics or really anything related to that part. But I love this building.
From accross the tyne the reflections on the outside are so nice and the shape and structure are amazing. I loved it from the outside looking in and it was equally as fascinating looking out accross newcastle. Iloved the way the interior seems to float inside it’s exterior shell.
A modern design classic.

The Sage can loosely be termed an Opera House, but the content that plays there is so much more varied. What is truly amazing is that the Sage is in fact located on the Gateshead side of the Tyne, an area traditionally associated with huge poverty, deprivation and the musical tastes running towards men in flat caps playing in the works brass band. The building is entirely modern, and is locally nicknamed ‘the slug’ due to the curvy undulating appearance. Inside there is a nice if slightly pricy café, and several concert halls and seminar rooms. The Sage is located beside the Millennium Bridge and the Baltic gallery, and is a lovely stopping point even if you are not visiting for a concert.

The Sage has the perfect mix of niche and mainstream. You want a Northumbrian Pipe workshop. You’ve got it! You want Roots Manuva playing an intimate gig. You’ve got it!
A fantastic venue (on a par with, if not succeeding, the Sydney Opera House) that sets the precedent for the rest of the country. Beautiful.

Fantastic venue which really puts Gateshead/​Newcastle on the map. Every musician should want to perform here!

This place is AMAZING! Not quite sure I got the address right but here we go anyway: I’m referring to the Sage on Gateshead Quayside. Despite looking like a giant porcupine, the Sage is actually perfection. Huge, welcoming reception area with fantastic views of the River Tyne + the Tybne Bridge, café, and numerous small quiet bars available serving pre, mid, and post-​show, the Sage really does cater to it’s clientele. It gets in acts from all around the world from a range of different musical classifications: from an African children’s choir, to a classical orchestra, to a small French band called Nouvelle Vague (who I saw on Valentines evening with my boyfriend and first experienced the Sage). This place is Culture with a capital C, but not very well-​located if you don’t drive!
