Lovely old school pub at the top of the Ouseburn Valley pub crawl. Turn left for an open fire and selection of about 5 craft real ales, a friendly welcome and tasty beer. The service is great too, one of our pints was from the bottom of the barrel so the barman gave it us for the price of a half pint. Legend!

Just a fantastic little pub, with tons of atmosphere and really friendly staff. Great music and comedy upstairs too.(Catch the improvised comedy, first Saturday in the month, if you can.)

The best pub of Newcastle. I’ve been there quite often during my masters programme and always felt very welcome. I haven’t tried the food but they have a wide variety of drinks. Somethings always going on, definitely worth following them on Facebook.

The Cumberland is an absolute gem of a pub perched atop of Byker bank overlooking the Ouseburn Valley. spit and sawdust in the best possible sense, real fire in the winter, a selection of reading material, real ales, exemplary traditional ciders, bands and comedy in the room upstairs, Wednesday is folk music night when musicians turn out to band together for impromptu performances. if you havent been just do yourself a favour and go, you’ll see what I mean.
