Is it just me, or does anyone else just love wandering around Waitrose? Anyway, the Byres Rd Waitrose is technically closer to me however the parking there is always a nightmare and the shop is pretty small. I prefer Waitrose Milngavie for lots of different reasons. First off, there’s plenty of parking with no need to try and reverse your tiny car into an even tinier space in the middle of a busy road(I’m looking at you Byres Rd). Also there’s a great café with yummy selections of hot and cold options for food and drinks and a great selection of snacky things and sweet treats. It’s also always very clean. I love how much bigger this Waitrose is, and therefore their selection is much broader. I love wandering around and looking at the weird and wonderful fare that you don’t get down your local Tesco. Their bakery counter is always worth a look and I love the selection of alcohol. There’s always something new to try and well worth a wander. My only word of advice is abandon all hope of spending a tenner in here, and expect to be back!

**300th review(and 100th this year!)** Okay, okay, I finally ‘get’ the whole Waitrose thing. This isn’t the nearest store to me, but browsing the shelves I was overwhelmed with the variety of products on offer and soon was having to resist the urge to go into a complete shopping frenzy. I realised that it felt like I was in an American supermarket. So much choice! So many new things to try! Must… resist… As it was past lunchtime, we started off in the café and ordered a fish pie and a falafel wrap, with a couple of coffees and tarte au citrons(or lemon tart as they called it, clearly not trusting the erudition of the Milngavie residents). The coffee wasn’t bad at all for a supermarket café, the experience only marred by the half-hour wait for the food to arrive, by which time it had gone cold and I was in need of a second one. Yes, it was rather busy, and they did apologise for the delay, but it would have been nice if they had warned us that it was going to take so long, whereupon I would have saved my coffee order until afterwards. However, the wrap was very tasty and came with a generous dollop of tzatziki on the side. The fish pie(Herself assures me) was also tasty, although the green salad came without any dressing, necessitating a raid on my tzatziki. Had we not had the delay in the café I would have given the place 5 stars. As it was, we came away with more purchases that we’d intended and considerably poorer than we’d planned; but then that’s the main aim of a supermarket so they certainly succeeded there!

This is a relatively newly opened Waitrose and I like it! A little handier for me than the Byres Road store and significantly bigger with a super sit in café serving breakfast/lunches/coffees… There is ample parking also and a good number of parent and child parking spaces. The store is bright yet warm and welcoming with lovely friendly staff, who are happy to help. There is also a Community room which hosts parent and toddler groups, exercise classes and can be used as meeting venue… All in all this Waitrose is a very welcome addition to the East Dunbartonshire area. Top marks from me for the lovely café!
