Lovely little café situated at the front of the museum. Only a few seats so if you are a small group(2 people) they generally tend to share tables. Staff are great and attentive, very reasonably priced considering most café ‘tea houses’ will charge you almost £10 for a sandwich now. Food was made fresh and I would prefer going here to many other places in Middlesbrough for a light bite to eat or tea with my friends.

We have visited the Dorman Museum a few times as a family and have always really enjoyed our visit. The museum is situated at the entrance to Albert Park, which is a large park with a boating lake, roller skating rink, café and the usual slides and swings for various ages, from tots up to teenagers. The museum itself is free to enter, and has various exhibitions at different times of the year. There is a permanent exhibition downstairs which is about the area in times past, how people lived and worked etc. This is my personal favourite area of the museum, and my 7 year old daughter really liked it too, as it is quite interactive with lots of information. On the second floor there is a collection of gems and stones, which are beautiful to look at, and an exhibition on dinosaurs and the distant past. Downstairs there is a gift shop which is actually quite reasonably priced for a gift shop. I would recommend the Dorman Museum as a great free way to entertain the children for an hour or two.

A great local history museum, with free entry and is right near the huge Albert park, so is well worth a visit. Great displays on local life and the local industries. Also info about the War and Victorican era. There is also an interactive section for kids. They also have a small café, which sells a selection of drinks and snacks.
