Best Chinese food I’ve ever had! Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion. Real great service and top notch care for customers — they couldn’t do enough for us. We were a large(and loud!) group, but they catered for us really well. The lazy Susan on the table help a lot as well! Would defend nutrition recommend!

I ran across this place today, smelled wonderful and the manager was so kind helping me find my hotel when iPhone died. Figured I’d return the favor and stop back for dinner. Checked back in and was told they were completely booked on a Sunday night at 8:40. 80% of the tables were empty? Either racist or a liar. Too bad we were(very) hungry and had cash! We were in jeans but c’mon it’s Chinese food in a major city an if it were jeans just tell us?!

A strongly recommended dining experience for well prepared chinese food and quality service. The dishes were highly flavourable and and very satisfying. This is a good venue to take guests too(they easily cater to larger dinner parties too) and also one to visit if you like to eat at places that are a little hidden and not blatantly touristy. The atmosphere is relaxed although it does present itself on the classier side. The service was truly exceptional and one feels taken care of without being over catered too. I recommend the prawns in the lime/lemon sauce — succulently juicy!!!

Was visiting from America with family and decided to try wings for lunch. It was a rainy day and we planned to explore the city so we had our rain jackets and boots on. As we entered the manager was at the front of the restaurant and lied straight to our face that the restaurant was booked for a private party(the restaurant was obviously empty and it was 1 pm). We suggested he put a sign on the front so it would be easier for people to make a choice in an extremely polite manner. Instead of just saying that he had a problem with the way we were dressed(not in accordance with the dress code which we didn’t realize but we were wearing dressy clothes under our jackets anyways), he started raising his voice and yelling at us. He was the rudest person we have encountered on our trip to England. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where they appreciate your business and are not such pompous pigs. Worst service ever period.

Recommended by our hotel. First thing you notice is a bunch of plates on the wall signed by celebrities like David Beckham and Sharon Osborne and sir Alex Ferguson. According to people in the know, this is a hangout for all the local soccer folks. We were greeted promptly at the door by the owner, Mr. Wing and told that they were slightly backed up and could we have a seat in the small waiting area — sure no problem. Well it turned out that this was just their ploy for trying to increase the sale of alcohol as the restaurant was only half full. Three different people stopped by during our short wait asking if we’d like to order a drink. We were shown to our table, a nice table in the corner. The restaurant offers lots of privacy as there are booth-like dividers between many of the tables. All the employees were Chinese and the wait staff all wear white gloves. The service itself was crisp, formal and efficient. They have a vast menu and we sampled 3 different items. Alas, I wish the quality and taste of the food measured up to the service. For my taste the food was bland and rather uninteresting. Not at all what we had expected when we were told this was the«best Cantonese Cuisine in Manchester.»

I used to go to Wings at its old location, and had always been very impressed with it. I decided to go into town and try it again, as i had heard great things. The staff were very nice, seating us in a nice location, and although we were only a small party, nothing was a miss. We were brought prawn crackers, some other cracker things, and some sauces. I am not sure what the other crackers were, but they are out of this world! one of the waitresses said they were fried dumpling mix or something, cant find them anywhere else though. We ordered some very nice starters, gorgeous spring rolls, prawn toast, i would highly recommend trying these. Also we had some duck in lettuce leaves, and some prawn in lettuce leaved. Cant remember exactly what but they were both fantastic. I had salt and pepper ribs, and i have never seen ribs like them before! they were massive, very weel seasoned and melt in your mouth. For main course we have sweet and sour chicken, and prawn in ok sauce. both with rice and both were fantastic. We spent way over an hour in here, and we will definitely return, as everything was top notch.

Amazing place, staff very friendly and helpful. Starter: — best spring rolls I have had. Main course: — lovely king prawns with spring onions and ginger/garlic served with fried rice. Excellent p. s.They are no at 1 Lincoln Avenue, they are at 1 Lincoln Square, Manchester, M25LN. For Sat Nav put in 28 Queen Street, Manchester, M25LN as there is a pay and display right outside their door.

A 5 star restaurant deserves 5 Unilocal stars from me and Wings is no exception. Positioned in Lincoln Square, a stone’s throw away fro the Town Hall and beside the much overlooked statue of President Lincoln, Wings is the jewel of Manchester. I am not a lover of Chinese as a rule– I prefer hot and spicy– but Wings is in a totally different class than your regular Chinese restaurant. This is exceptional food in exceptional surroundings and I reserve it for special occasions because it should be treated with reverence and respect. The owner, Wing Shing, Chu– formerly a chef in China Town– knew exactly what he was doing by opening his restaurant in city centre Manchester. To survive the expensive Deansgate leases, Wing knew he had to make this place stand out and he has achieved it big style. Walking into Wings you are treated to a vision of pale blond woodwork, and breathtaking murals of The Great Wall of China and other sights. The entrance is guarded by stone statues of ancient Chinese soldiers which if this was an American action blockbuster, would certainly come to life after sunset. There are sliding patio doors which make for great dining in the Summer and in the reception area, there are plates strewn across the walls which have been signed by tons of celebrities and footballers who just cannot get enough of this great place. Now for the food as this is what really brings you back here, again and again. ITISFANTASTIC! If you like Dim Sum, I highly recommend you order a platter because a couple of these beauties just isn’t enough. The seafood dumplings are the most wonderful I have ever tasted and as each platter contains half a dozen, for £6.80 this is excellent value as it will feed 2 people. The mains are sublime and although more expensive than other restaurants averaging £10.90 per portion, each dish is so huge you do not need to order many. There are 14 main vegetarian dishes on the menu here and a range of vegetarian starters so everyone is catered for equally. A handy tip is not to order the Banquet meal unless you are in a party of 5 or more– there is just too much to eat and the amount is quite intimidating and can spoil your meal thinking about how much you have to get through. Wings is an award winning Cantonese restaurant and is the proud recipient of the 2006 Remy Martin awards and the 2003 and 2004 best food Award(M.E.N and Cheshire Life). I would give it many awards myself if I could: 1 award for the food, the second for the ambience, a third for the service and another for the Wings experience. This celeb haunt is one for us normal folks too. If Unilocal would let me give it 6 stars I would.

This place is so popular, it’s even got a few famous faces frequenting it. Okay, we don’t have the most highbrow celebs here in Manchester, but if footballers, their wives, their girlfriends and the odd soap star is your kind of thing then you might find yourself somewhat starstruck. But don’t be starstruck by the Z-listers now. Be starstruck by the food. Wing’s, owned by a Mr Wing Shing Chu(a fantastic name if you ask me) is a Cantonese restaurant of epic proportions. It’s smart(and that means you should dress smart in turn), it’s pristine and the food is unbeatable. Rarely do I get to use a phrase so dramatic in a review but this place really is the bee’s knees, the cat’s pyjamas, the pork’s dumplings. The pork dumplings are a big draw here, hence why I mentioned them. There are the most excellent dim sum platters with the likes of prawn toast, spring rolls, seaweed, skewered chicken and so on which you can pick at for a mere £6.90-£7.90. If that doesn’t satiate you there are plenty of exquisite starters, from spare ribs to fillet steak rolls, wasabi prawns to deep fried crab, and the mains are a nightmare for the indecisive. There’s just too much to choose from, and this is why Wing’s bears repeating so many times. You feel like you have to try everything that makes you salivate. This is why the banquets are such a good idea, but if you really can’t choose do consider the chef’s special recommendations as they really are something. If you want the help-yourself buffets or a more down-to-earth cantina style of dining, China Town itself is the ideal stop, but if you fancy making Chinese food a luxury treat, Wing’s is a great option. The food is absolutely gorgeous, the atmosphere is sophisticated, the staff are 100% dedicated and friendly and warm, and the drinks are pretty nice too. If you’re in the mood for something a bit different pop in your Sunday best and head to Lincoln Square. It’s ultimately brilliant Oriental food in great surroundings.

I was expecting a great night out at Wings after reading reviews, however I found wings to be a little expensive which is fine if you are getting a better standard of food, maybe it was an off day but my ribs were mostly fat, I was very dissapointed, my local takeaway has less fat on the ribs. I also had noodles as a side dish with my main but the noodles were quite cold by the time they arrived to my table so I had to send them back, they were re-heated and returned to me nice and hot but very much overcooked. I think I will stick to my local restaurant in future.

Walk in and you are surrounded by large inanimate objects of some sort of Chinese relation. Sit down and you quickly realise your surrounded by signed autographs. It seems Mr Wing(that’s his name honest) is a huge supporter of man united; because of this the team sometimes eat here and seem to love the place. So you never know you may be sharing your sweet n sour with Ronaldo. Celebrities apart Wings is in a league of its own in Chinese food. The service is fantastic and the BBQ spare ribs may have you holding the chef at gun point for the recipe. Wings isn’t the cheapest experience I’ve ever had, but hay it was my parents footing the bill, what can you do? On the whole though defiantly a competitor for top Chinese in Manchester.

Wings is hands down the best Cantonese in town. There is such a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere once you’re past the less appealing façade; the warm décor, intimate booth seating and crisp linen tables are impeccably laid. The staff are extremely welcoming and attentive to boot. You won’t know where to start with the menu it’s so extensive. An array of dishes make up the incredible 200 item menu: Dim Sum, chicken, lamb, noodle, seafood, beef, vegetarian, rice and vermicelli dishes are just some of the sub menus. Mains range between £10−20(more for speciality and seafood dishes) and the portions are healthy and very well presented. I tried Lamb with Ginger in a clay pot which was sublime. The wine list too was vast, but we stuck to our Tsing Tao’s, although at £4.20 they don’t come cheap. Overall though, Wings wins.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The staff are the friendliest most helpful staff I have come across in the whole of Manchester. Service such as this makes going out for a meal a real experience– which it should always be but so often is not! The food was absolutely amazing and I felt full to the brim as I left. I must admit that this place is a little costly however I believe it was worth every single penny :)

No McCartney, no Denny Laine just the best sweet and sour pork dumplings in the Greater Manchester area. Not much to look at from the outside, your faith is repaid every time if you venture inside. The food is out of this world, the atmosphere unusually relaxed, service unmatched and conversation and chit chat is a none starter as you will spend most of your night reading the autographed plates on the walls from all the celebs that have eaten there! Though slightly pricier than the surrounding competition, the quality of the dishes will see to it that you don’t leave with a nasty taste in your mouth.

THE best chinese I have ever visited. A little on the pricey side but definitely worth it. The BBQ Spare Ribs are to die for. Very relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and you spend ages reading the autographed plates on the walls from all the celebs that have eaten there! Take away also available.

A must-visit in Manchester. Mister Wing, fervent supporter of Manchester United hosts us in his restaurant quite frequently. The record: 4 times/1 week. An extensive menu but the salt and pepper RIBS are my favourite. All the players love it.
