I have wanted to go to Turtle Bay since the Oldham St restaurant opened, the menu sounded utterly mouth watering and on arrival was not a disappointment! For a Saturday lunch hour we were seated quite quickly although we had booked in advance. Had to wait a couple of minutes for our table to be ready but this was spent wisely pouring over the 2−4−1 cocktail menu! I tried a fair few and they were all delicious; I have to say it’s better if there are a few of you so you can mix and match as the 2−4−1 deal means both cocktails in the deal must be the same. Friendly staff and quick service. Beach platter to start which gave a bit of a flavour of everything; followed by the more unusual goat burger and sweet potato fries which were delicious. Rounded off with BBQ pineapple, coconut ice cream and rum caramel sauce. Filled me up but not too full. Would highly recommend it!

Gorgeous Caribbean food. Booked online on the day on a Saturday for 1:45pm. Had a drink at the bar before being seated, 241 cocktails 12pm-7pm & again from 10pm to close. They took a card for behind the bar to start a tab & gave me a token in return. Sat down & had great service. Ordered the beach food platter between the 3 of us. A little bit of 4 different things to test try. Then I had goat curry. Came in a quirky white tin bowl with some flat bread. Lovely tasting, some spice, not too much heat. Then BBQ pineapple to finish off. Loads of flavour to all their dishes. Great atmosphere. Would definitely go again.

Popped in here on a night out for cocktails, thought they were always 2−4−1 but turns out they were back on at 10pm and I coincidentally arrived at 9.55pm, RESULT! Waiting time wasn’t too bad considering happy hour on a Saturday night. Managed to get a table by some miracle too. Can’t recommend Jamaican mule(like a Moscow mule but with rum and ginger beer) or Mai Tai enough. Delicious! And strong. But worth a bad head the next day!

My favourire Caribbean restaurant in Manchester with a unique atmosphere and great spicy food. I had the salmon salad. The fish was beautifully complimented by jerk sauce and the salad fresh with a hint of sweetness. It was time I tried deep fried battered chickpeas and I loved it! They also have happy hour until 8. I would definitely recommend it!

A great place for some 2 for 1 cocktails at certain hours, but an even better place for some food. I’ve tried the Goat curry and the Jamaican Brown chicken, both delicious. A friend had ordered the fish curry, which looked amazing, definitely having that next time. This branch of Turtle Bay is much smaller than their other one on Oxford St. Despite this, I was surprised that they won’t take bookings for more than 8 people, and the online booking process only allows a maximum of 6. I had the responsibility of choosing and booking somewhere for a meal out from work and as there were 7 of us this had to be done over the phone. However, not a problem, communication was good. I received an email with a booking reference and a menu. For ease, we pre-ordered our food and I emailed this to them two days beforehand. This worked brilliantly and the order was completed with no mistakes, complications or confusion. The cocktails are nice, though they don’t taste overly alcoholic, I think that the amount of alcohol in them is a lot more measured than might at first appear. I think I’ll just drink pints of Red Stripe in future. Lovely décor which is done in a style to make you feel like you’re sat outside somewhere in the Caribbean. The perfect antidote to a cold dark wet Manchester evening!

Rum, Reggae, hot sauce! These are the some up points for what I feel about this! Heart it !! 2 for 1 drinks before 7pm. My fav is mojito at all times! Very decent cocktail … It’s very packed during the weekend but the place is quite big so you won’t be waiting for too long. I’ve been here 2 times — both times I couldn’t resist the hot sauces. My, how much I love the encona — hot pepper sauce and Aunt May’s baja pepper sauce! I’ve had those on every food and smother each bite! Be careful — it is very hot! I had Salmon Salad and ½ Jerk Chicken. Salmon seared well on both sides, middle part was still juicy, fall apart when you cut into it. The dressing was very flavorful and light at the same time. lot of different type of greens in the salad. It was a really successful combination and texture. The jerk chicken was super juicy! Seasoning on the skin was very tasty! I can eat the whole bird if I have to … Get ready to get your hands dirty! My friend had ribs — the sauce was good but meat was a bit dry but sauce was still wet… I would def. suggest chicken over ribs. The price is very reasonable and great value! It’s a super chill spot for either cocktail or food or BOTH!!!

I’ve unfortunately not managed to get around to sampling the food menu yet, however I’ve sampled a fair few of the cocktails! They have an offer on for 2 for £10 between a certain time. Their espresso martinis are a winner for me, closely followed by the Tobago tea!

We came here on a Saturday evening after making a booking through their website. I was glad because it was sooooo busy! But in a great buzzing kind of way with cocktails being whizzed around to their tables and great music playing loudly. The place smelled of jerk chicken and stews! The service was good and the portions were just right. Definitely go for the jerk chicken! Not a restaurant to go to for a quiet romantic meal but definitely a great place for good food with a party vibe!

Upon entering this place you can see it has quite a relaxed, open planed feel to it. The staff are quick and happy to engage in conversation without giving you too much attention as well as being around most of the time to ensure a good service. There’s a large selection of drinks and a smaller one of food, plenty of new cocktail ideas at a reasonable price and made on the bar for you to watch if desired. My only issue was the chips/fries — there was nothing so much wrong with them, just too hard and crunchy for my own taste. However the ribs were delicious.

Nice addition to the Northern Quarter, even if it’s not an indie! 2−4−1 cocktails in the day was great, meant I got 4 cocktails and meal of the ‘Lunch n Lighter’ section(curry goat wrap, fries and slaw) for under £20, great value, especially considering I struggle to find anywhere in the Northern Quarter with decent cocktails under £8(happy to hear your suggestions on that front) The food was tasty and portion size was just right considering it was from the lighter menu. The menu had lots of variety and I’d like to go back and try more as it makes a nice change from the usual burgers on offer in most places(although there is definitely nothing wrong with a good ol’ greasy burger)

To celebrate a colleagues birthday we decided to pop to Turtle Bay in the NQ for lunch. I first went to Turtle Bay on Oxford Road soon after it opened last year and very much enjoyed their eats — I especially remember the whitebait starter being exceptionally good! I was expecting nothing less from the NQ branch and they did deliver. The space itself is very well decorated and the Jamaican theme is tastefully executed throughout, even down to the reggae music every part of the experience makes you feel like you’re holidaying in the Caribbean. It was 2−4−1 on cocktails so after 2 Bahama Mama’s came my way i decided to order the pulled chicken bun. It was good — the chicken was tender and flavoursome with a subtle taste of jerk seasoning. It was served with soft red onions on the bun too and was accompanied by fries and Caribbean slaw. The bottom of the bun was slightly soggy, making me think it was sat on the pass for a while, but because we were a party of 10 and they served us all together, I’ll let this slide. It’s a good place for some grub and gets quite lively at night too!

Love their branch on Oxford road and this one in NQ is another great edition to the manchester food scene! Had the curry on this occasion served with rice and peas! The curry was full of flavour and nicely spiced! Topped the meal off with their chocolate pud(ask for coconut icecream instead of vanilla, its nom!!) This all washed down with their ‘Jammin’ cocktail and top notch service with friendly genuine smiles! The restaurant is usually always filled with west indies nationalities as well which I can only see as a good sign of the quality of their food!

The service at Turtle Bay is great, from start to finish and there is always a 2−4−1 cocktails on much of the time, which is strongly recommended and tastily made. This branch is much smaller than the one on Oxford Road but that’s not a bad thing and it’s a nice place to hangout. I would recommend coming here if you haven’t tried Caribbean food before.

I love the one on Oxford Road so I was ecstatic when I discovered one had launched on Oldham Street(less walking). The service was impeccable, from start to finish and the two for one cocktails is on pretty much all of the time, which are strongly and tastily made. Anyway, this place offers from squid to pork cheeks. this time I had the Escondido? Fish while my companion had half a seasoned chicken. this was not for the faint hearted as you do get served a whole fish, I had to ask for a plate to balance the head, tail and other fishy boney bits on but this was provided promptly. Noming through these we spotted the cheesecake and rum cake for dessert, the rum cake was light, airy and flavoursome… mine was not but the dessert cocktails made up for it. Once again the bill came to a good value price of £50 which is excellent for 6 drinks, main and dessert each. I would recommend coming here if you haven’t tried Caribbean food before. I won’t lie, it not the best you will ever have but for a chain who offers great service and diversity I would come on down.

Turtle Bay in Northern Quarter. Went there on a Sunday night and it was very quiet… I think maybe this place is better on a Friday or a Saturday night when there is a bit of life in the place. However the food was enjoyable and would probably go back there again

So I popped to the new Turtle Bay for a quick lunch having been interviewing all afternoon(basically I was starving and had lunch at 4pm — it was great to see that they served food all day) A growing chain from the same guys as Las Iguanas, it brings Caribbean food to the masses and like IG they do a good job in offering fresh ingredients, an exciting menu and an overall pleasant experience. It’s all very ‘authentic chainy’ if that makes sense and you can see the owners are trying their best to make it seem really unique. This branch is much smaller than the one on Oxford Street but that’s not such a bad thing as it seems quite intimate and was a nice place to hangout. There’s a decent size bar to the front which makes it a cool place to hang. On this occasion I had the red snapper caribbean curry(£9.65) and it was fantastic — loads of veges, lovely rice and great spices — yum!
