The Lloyd’s Hotel

I have never been here before but it was my partner friends party, he had a room upstairs it was a lovely room nice size with views over the bowling green had its own bar. I was very impressed with the bar staff I got a vodka and coke and my partner got a pint and the bar guy came over and changed it for him he said there was something wrong with the line. The drinks were reasonable priced too.
Overall a nice room the pub downstairs looked nice too so would probably return if I’m in Chorlton.

A pleasant place for a drink or pub grub.
There’s plenty of soft seating and tables available here. It had a makeover a whole ago with lots of pretty flowery fabric which is quite homey. Also no football being shown on a derby day, which is a plus for me to be honest. There’s also big picnic tables out the front and a function room upstairs.
I’ve just had a Sunday roast with a trio of meats for £10. Unfortunately all 3 were overcooked and there was no pink at all in the beef. The cauliflower had a couple of burnt bits on top but was actually undercooked. I think it was supposed to be cauliflower cheese but there wasn’t enough sauce to be sure. It wasn’t a bad roast but there’s better ones nearby. The other girls I was with were vegans and they were out of luck with the smaller Sunday menu. They ended up getting chips and houmous with carrots from the kids menu. They enjoyed the houmous but thought it might be a bit too spicy for kids. The herbed chips also got a thumbs up.
The service also was okay but could have been more attentive.

Went here for a Christmas dinner with a large group. The pub has had a refurbishment and it looks fairly nice if a little generic now, it is an improvement though as the hotel was beginning to look a little tired.
It’s unfortunately let down by a poor selection of beer especially for Chorlton. They have 8 handpumps (the only thing under consideration really) but only 4 beers running, it’s a shae as Lees have a fairly large selection to choose from. I’m not a massive fan of JW Lees beers but the MPA was on very decent form this particular evening.
The food came out surprisingly quickly given our numbers, although we did pre-​order. There were a few ordering mistakes made but the kitchen was apologetic and even refunded some money to those effected and gave them a free dessert so all was fine.
The food was reasonable for a chain establishment. I had the turkey and ham which was a little dry, but with loads of gravy and cranberry sauce it was satisfyingly Christmassy.
It’s not a pub I would seek out in Chorlton with so many genuinely interesting alternatives around, but it will sell you a serviceable pint at a moderate price and is a big enough establishment to suit large groups.

«The Lloyds Hotel» is a very grand title for this gastro pub we all know locally as just «Lloyds». I remember the days when it was Edward’s Bar, a chilled out, friendly pub, and its successor, Lloyds, has stayed true to form. Lets be honest, it is nothing special. It is the type of place you always walk by and then one day when you are shopping you decide to pop in; but I like Lloyds. It is unpretentious, cosy and charming. The menus would make Gordon Ramsey crack up with concentration because they are so extensive and diverse. The Chicken Tikka Massalla and Thai Green Curry are nothing to rave about, but Lloyds does a good Sunday roast for £6.50 and filling sandwiches.
The other half and I went to Lloyds last Summer and found an outside eating area which overlooked a bowling green. It was so tranquil that we both felt we were acres away from a bustling town and we had a lovely lunch. There is a function room which holds a capacity of 70 upstairs and many local Chorltonites call in there to watch Sky Sports live. This isn’t a vibrant, trendy hotspot, neither is it a boring public house. Lloyds is a nice place to get a beer, a decent roast dinner and it offers the people of Chorlton and its surrounding areas an alternative to packed out student bars.

As Kirsten points out, this is one of those places that has hotel in its name but isn’t a hotel. I’ve noticed that with pubs in general, particularly in Chorlton. What’s the dealio?
Lloyds resides in a listed Victorian building and the first thing is that you can’t deny its prettiness. With an open fire and a range of cask and keg beers, it definitely covers all the categories for a place of comfort, cosiness and good, relaxed times. They pride themselves on having plenty of spirits on offer meaning that they can knock up a mean cocktail.
One of the draws of Lloyds is its status as a superb live music and comedy venue. Four nights a week are dedicated to bands performing, and there are open mic opportunities too. You’ll also always find your favourite sports on the tube — Lloyds boasts 42 inch flatscreen monitors as well as a big screen for all the footie, rugby and cricket you could shake a stick at. If you wanted to shake a stick at it… people tend to shout at it and look intensely at it instead.
The menu is hearty, with Sunday roasts available as well as a range of light bites, salads and filling mains. With reasonably priced drinks to boast too, it’s certainly a fine and attractive spot for a bit of weekend relaxation.

I first visited Lloyd’s with a friend for a quick drink after a meal at Croma. On a quick glance down the bar whilst ordering our drinks we discovered that there was a free Indian buffet on offer. Damn, if only we weren’t stuffed to bursting point with pizza!
Another friend of mine plays Irish music, and I’ve been down to see her play here on a Monday night (I think there is an Irish session every Monday), which wasn’t bad. They also have regular performances from Manics cover band ‘The Bourbon Street Preachers’.
The atmosphere isn’t amazing, but you’ll never struggle to find a seat, unlike in the more popular bars in Chorlton. The drinks are reasonably priced, but you won’t find many poncy bottled lagers here.
The strange thing is I’m pretty sure this place is simply a pub, and not a hotel.

Its cheap ish. Nice pint on a nice day but would not want to spend the whole night there. There are better pubs in Chorlton, but there are also much worse. Not the sort of place you would go for a fantastic thrilling night out but quite a nice speakeasy pub.

Lloyds is a big pub in Chorlton cum Hardy that has loads of TV screens that transmit football matches. There is a multitude of seating areas; within these areas there is also a fine selection of different seats. So the choice is yours. Those who hate making decisions may want to steer clear. It’s quite expensive and the service is often a little over-​friendly. I feel bad for saying that, but the zany-​factor is turned up a little high for my liking.

I’ve been to this place a few times, sometimes to watch United matches or often just to have a couple of pints and a bite to eat. It tends to attract an older clientele than the bars down the road.
It has a large food menu, from burgers and sandwiches to more adventurous fare. Their meals are pretty substantial on the whole and I always feel I’ve overeaten here (though better that than being hungry). Beers are ok and decently priced, staff can be a little hit and miss, some are friendlier than others.
Lloyds is nothing special but there’s nothing massively wrong with it either and I’d certainly recommend it over the Spread Eagle, the extremely dodgy Holts house over the road.

Big pub in Chorlton, and you are pretty much guaranteed a seat even on the weekends, especially as they have tables outside at the front and the back. Occaisionally have live bands — quite a jazzy one was playing this weekend, although it certainly wasn’t the best or most interesting music I’ve ever heard so was quite glad I was sitting outside. Good range of drinks — plenty of bitters and wines. Although it doesn’t seem like the kind of place at all — the clientele are a slightly older crowd to the trendier bars up the road — I have seen some violence here. They have bouncers on the door, but they themselves are quite intimidating and make you feel on edge, when I guess they are meant to be there to make you feel safe.

Lloyds Hotel is located in Manchester and is a fab pub with fantastic pub menu ideal for luches and snacks. I always have either the prawn cocktail or a the pâté with toast bearing in mind it is only pub grub but for less than four quid, it is really nice and not too expensive either.
