My little local Tesco. Let’s save the ‘good’ for a moment and list ‘the bad’ and ‘the ugly’, and then I’ll elaborate… 1) It’s an Express, which often warrants a lack of choice and a complete separation from the special offers of larger Tesco branches. That said, these ones in miniature often have their very own super-deals, so swings and roundabouts really. 2) Location location location. Man, is it handy, but oh lord, you don’t want to turn up there too late at night. You’ll have to fight through hoards of tipsy students to get a glance at the cash machine, and inside they’ll have bought out just about everything half price. Plus at certain times this means the queues are nothing short of astronomical. But over to the nice bits, and this is why I’m a fan of it. First of all, two cash machines. Free cash. None of this £1.75 business for the privilege of extracting your own money. I think they’re RBS machines. Then there’s the fact that there’s a POSTOFFICE inside! Yes! This makes life so much easier when it comes to taking out dollars or sending massive boxes of things to my colleagues the nation over, or getting big presents far and wide. And the opening hours, 7 – 11 including Sundays, make life so much easier. When it comes to grabbing a few last minute bits it really is spot on. So it might not be super duper special or independent, but I’m happy to have this patch within striking distance of where I live. Nice one Tesco!

Just another Tesco. This is what I see. Same prices, as in quite expensive. Same type of staff, asking for id even if you look over 25, which annoys me really bad. The only good thing about this tesco is that is open until quite late, later than Lidl which is next door. And you are on the park, or smoking some shisha across the road, you can come here, get some crisps, sandwiches or beers and go and relax. I’ve never been here to do lots of shopping. It’s not my cup of tea and probably it will stay like this forever. I wish they you keep it tidier, in the sense that all the products are everywhere. Cheese at the pizza section and some bread right next to the broccoli. This is what I saw the last time I had the honor to visit this little shop. But I suppose, for students that live just next door, is a blessing to have this Tesco at any time.

This is my second kitchen. Literally. I walk in here before my 10am lectures, pick up the very fresh and filling and not to forget cheap one quid salads, which are the perfect brunch or start to your day! I love the fruits they keep and their freshness never disappoints me. They have a good selection of ready to eats and bakery. Other than that it’s like any other Tesco. It of course faces stiff competition from the Lidl residing on its left. But, I’m sure considering the quality and if you’re more used to the Tesco family, the competition is fairly lowered. It has an excellent location with much convenience to students and also the grocery market of the residents of Wilmslow park above. The variety and stock is much better than the Tesco express of Hathersage road and suits to many needs! Also, this place has very helpful and friendly staff once you get to know them and you’re a regular! Tesco lovers, give this one a heads up!

I’m beginning to think that this particular Tesco Express should be renamed to Student Express, because the sheer amount that come here is staggering compared to others. It’s mainly to do with the location which makes it easily accessible to a number of student halls and houses, and like sheep they all trundle over time and time again. This is despite the fact Lidl is next door, and despite popular opinion is not bad place to by from. Just confusing. But moving back to Tesco, there’s little I can say against it. It’s not the most well-stocked of express shops, but its market doesn’t require it to be, so I can’t really complain. Plus the little security guard there must be a robot because he’s in there almost every day without fail. What a guy!

We go here a lot. And I mean a lot. Thinking about it we frequent this store some 4 times a week looking for a late night snack or bits for a meal. If I cared more I’d avoid it, with the diversity of minor choices(I can buy 20 varieties of margarine) but the death of major choices(I usually can only buy it from one or two supermarkets) it marks something very wrong with the world, even as I type this my computer’s telling me I’ve misspelt tescos as I haven’t referred to it with a capital T as if it’s some sort of bleeding demigod! But are well I’m a victim of the machine, Tesco’s express is on every corner of Manchester and does supermarket goods except smaller and with the price turned up just that little bit more so you don’t notice it. My typical tactic is to walk to the clearance shelf and pick up some custard tarts that go off today for 20p.
