I went here for my work Christmas party and I would warn anyone against thinking about booking this place out. My biggest upset with this place was that we had the room booked out until midnight — and by 1045 they had opened up the place to the public and closed half the space to be a VIP area, we where not VIP, though we had the place booked. We had made the place pretty packed with just the work lot(about 120??) After the door where opened the place became unbearable. Even if it wasn’t for the bad treatment off us by the place it has some odd things about it. This place sells itself as a Japanese themed club, so I was looking to get my hands on some Japanese whisky /sake /beer. None off the above where to be found. What we had where plastic cups and if you wanted to by a bottle be aware that they will tie it to the table. Last gripe with this place — no coat room. I know understand why everyone in the locks is freezing. The only redeeming fact about this place was that some off the staff where really good and took care of use while we where there!

I have to be honest I am not the biggest fan of Deansgate Locks, but I do make an exception sometimes when I get dragged out by my friends. I had been to Sakura back in my uni days and remembered having a great night with my best girl friends(may be it was all about the company). I was again invited for a Greek Carnival night there last month, so decided to go because it was a Friday night, I had no plans and a carnival sounded like fun! Every time I get off the cab on Deansgate I have a bad experience(some drunk girl shouts at me or I see someone throwing up right in front of me at 11 pm) so that night could not be an exception obviously! I got off the cab and witnessed two guys(wearing super tight tee-shirts with a fake tan and looked like they walked out of an episode of Jersey Shore) fist fighting each other. Moving on, I enter Sakura and the whole atmosphere was very much like a trance Greek carnival — Every one was dressed up in fancy dress with neon sticks in their hand and the club. The drinks were reasonably priced so I could afford quite a few and the music was good enough to dance to after a few cocktails. The crowd was very international and mostly filled with students. Verdict: I definitely had a good time, and come on what else can we expect from a night club in Deansgate Locks? P.S Need to edit the review after my recent experience — because I don’t think I would recommend anyone here!

I dont know about you guys, but I like that place! It has something different than all the other Deansgate Locks bars. Maybe its the«disco» dancefloor at the underground club, or the decoration inside… But most of all, I like the really polite stuff there! Always with a smile! Makes my mood to go there! I wont discuss about its music, because you all know that these bars/clubs there play pretty much the same style of music. So if you wanna go on a Friday night, dont expect it to be relaxed… Bits and RnB is the music you ll listen. Be prepared!

Popped in for a drink early evening with a friend. It was only about 6pm(Saturday) so we pretty quiet. Girl came up to us and asked if we were just having drinks or eating. She then told us to get a seat and she would come over. Even though there were just a handful of people in the bar, we had to wait several minutes(so it seemed) for her to come over. The drinks menu on the tables were just with the cocktails and things like sake(and maybe shots??). It didn’t have any of the bottles of beers and different draught beers. I asked the girl if they had Asahi beer — a well known Japanese beer. Since its a «Japanese bar/club», I expected them to have it. She didn’t even know what Asahi was. We ordered a couple bottles of beer and opened a tab. We were surprised how much each beer was. For a simple bottle of beer, they cost £4.25 each. Didn’t stay for food so can’t comment on it. May be very good?
