I like room. I went when it was reform years ago. I like the style and atmosphere. Didn’t eat there. Very quiet so that was nice. Staff seemed nice. Didn’t have drink I wanted but drinks were nice. I need to go back there for food soon see what it’s like.

Really enjoyed my visit to Room last night. We got there early to take advantage of their early bird 2 course set menu. 2 Courses for £12 and half price cocktails bargain! We were greeted warmly by the receptionist downstairs and headed up to the bar which was packed at 6pm. Room is a gorgeous place to eat a meal. It used to be the reform club and you can tell of its opulent history with chandeliers, high ceiling and an overall glamorous setting. We were shown to our table and were impressed with the fixed price menu. It changes every 2 weeks so you can try something different each time you visit. I ordered the roasted veg risotto which was delicious and creamy and the cheese and biscuits which included a good selection of cheese and ample chutney and crackers. I also recommend the mai tai cocktails and at half price it would have been rude not to have had a couple. Will definitely be back.

I went to Room tonight for the first time in about a year. I’ve always liked it but there are so many places to eat in Manchester, I often forget about it tucked away at the top of King Street. We went straight from work and were the first people in the restaurant at about 6, but soon started filling up. We ate from the fixed price menu. This changes quite regularly, which is good as it keeps the choice fresh and seasonal. I had a burger and my friend had red pepper risotto. I had serious food envy as it looked lush. My burger was nice but wish I had chosen the risotto. Not the burger’s fault, it was good, but I should have been more adventurous. The chips I had with it were amazing and my friend and I ate all of them. For pudding I had Bakewell tart, which was very nice and definitely didn’t regret that choice. My friend had the chocolate tart, which she said was melt in the mouth. The drinks happy hour was on so we both had the house wine at only 2.80 per glass. I had the red which was very drinkable and I had two glasses. My friend has the white and said it was nice. Overall, really good value at about £20 each inc tip. The only thing I would say is that the dessert portion wasn’t very big and as a dessert lover, the bigger the better for me. I need to remember this place more and when I do return, I am going to be a bit more adventurous with my choice of main!

This is a partial review in that I’ve only been once, for lunch. So I’m not reviewing the whole thing, or the bar, cocktails, etc. We snuck in just at the end of the lunch period. We started with some bread and olives. The bread was pretty decent, but the olives were unpleasantly hard and generic. The butter was also fridge-solid, a simple error that drives me absolutely crazy. A lack of care was evident here… I had the«jambalaya», presented very differently from the big pot you might expect normally. With a couple of prawns, two decent pieces of pork, and some tasty rice, with a good kick, this was a pretty tasty meal all in all; not very large, but fine for lunch. My partner had the cauli cheese which was good too. So, we liked the food. We also liked our bill. But that was because it was during January when they have 50% off, for lunch at least, making the meal really good value. Full-price they’d be charging £20 for my main course. As nice as it was, this seems way over to me. As such, I can’t say in general this place is quite worth the money. I would come again though.

Went to Room for the first time last night to attend a networking event. Now this place has the wow factor. I’ve since been told that a colleague had their wedding reception here, and I can certainly see why you would; the dining and bar area is very grand, with some smaller spaces to the side, and a rather lovely staircase. Our coats were taken at the door and we ventured upstairs to be shown the event space. The room itself was great, just the right size, with some very interesting wallpaper — we believe it was velvet, though none of us fancied stroking it. Despite it being a fair sized event, there was only one person serving drinks, and I think he did a stand up job. There was a bit of a wait to begin with, but he got the hang of it in no time. I drank wine(and plenty of it!) but also tried a delicious cocktail, though the wine wont let me remember what it was called. I only hope the food is as good as the surroundings.

Room is not just a room, but a mini mansion or so it feels — Beautiful architecture, spiral stair case, chandeliers, posh carpet flooring and black leather couches. We walked in and got greeted by a lady at the reception, who then escorted us upstairs to the bar. It does feel very posh but don’t let that put you off if you are the hipster sorts because this place is NOT pretentious. The bar is very charming and so is the massive dining area, perfect for a candle lit dinner. I have heard they recently employed some really good chefs and have a fantastic new menu. I can not comment on the food because I have not tasted that yet(hence the 4 stars). Room also has a fantastic events room and the only word to describe it would be majestic, so if you are looking for a posh party venue you know where to go! Let me get to the bar(my favorite bit) — A very charming bar man asked me politely what drink I would like and as always I gave him a confused look(I can never make my mind up). The confused look worked in my favor because he asked me to name a few of my favorite cocktails to understand my taste and then made up this absolutely delicious cocktail. It was a french martini with chocolate liquor and hazelnut, and what a delight it was to have because I wanted it to last forever(but sadly I gulped it down in a matter of minutes). After that we decided to go for a bottle of wine, yet again he recommended this delicious red wine for us(I am not the biggest fan of red wine but even I loved it). There was soft background music, which is ideal when you want to have a relaxed drink with some conversation. Verdict: Highly recommend this place to all the cocktail lovers in the city!

BEST cocktails in town, and if your not inclined to order off the menu speak to the bartender and they will create what you ask for. I would say my favourite is the Mojito and seriously they are amazing! G&T’s are excellent too. A little pricy but the evening atmosphere is fabulous and the staff friendly.

I love Room! The Brambles are the best! The bar is set up so well too, it’s never too crowded you’ll always have a nice spot for yourself and your guest(s), and no matter how crowded it never seems that loud! It’s impressive! I make it a point to visit Room every time I’m in Manchester.

They have the largest lampshades I have ever seen! Truly massive. Plus the venue itself is gorgeous with beautiful wooden features and impressive cocktail list. The cocktails themselves come in at about £7.50 a pop and have some funny touches such as half a fig roll stuck on the top of one. Stop by for a drink or two and admire the Room. You won’t regret it.

Absolutely rubbish. I have no problem paying for decent food and good service, however Room offers neither. It likes to promote itself as a superior venue, with a British take on classic food but this is well wide of the mark. My starter was supposed to be a Croque Monsieur with a waldorf salad. It turned out to be a small piece of warm brie with some chopped walnut, with a giant slice of beetroot(which wasn’t mentioned on the menu) dumped on top. Sadly, I hate beetroot but my entire starter tasted of little else. My main course(after picking 2 items which were unavailable) was the fish pie. This was actually a small piece of grilled salmon along with a tiny filo pie crust type of thing. This cost £15.50, although the small amount I got was quite nice. Finally we had to get up and find somebody to get the bill for us, despite the restaurant quite clearly closing up. As for the bar, they like to promote it as a place to people watch. This is great if you like watching clowns in Ben Sherman shirts making idiots of themselves but not so much otherwise. My opinion? Steer clear. Steer well clear.

Great place. Cracking music thanks to the DJ’s, service second to none and the staff are on the ball from being greeted at the door to being served at the bar. The food’s really good too, although they need to say exactly what is on each dish on the menu.

Having DJed in Room, you’d think I would be bias or something. No, I will not let the fact they’ve paid me get in the way of an honest review… although it probably helps that this won’t be a bad one. You see, Room is a very exclusive looking place which, to be honest, might put me off chancing my arm on popping in. Having been in there I can say that the crowd are very laid back indeed and very amiable. For hardened drinkers, there’s bad news. I was told there was nothing on tap, which means all pints are off the menu and you’ll be on bottles all night, which is of course, a bit expensive. However, if you’re feeling a bit flush, it’s well worth peeping in as the cocktails are very, very good indeed. There’s a good mix of blokey ones and girly ones(should that sort of thing matter to you). The space is big and well presented and quite dark and exotic. It’s a good place to get drunk in that’s for sure. It’s not the coolest of crowds, but that could well work in the venue’s favour. For something that appears upmarket, it’s alarmingly unpretentious in terms of the punters who go in. As for the food… I didn’t try it, but reports have been pretty good. Next time you fancy treating yourself, you should give it a go.

If you go here, have a Bramble. They’re awesome. However, do not have four of them and watch out for people who might just order you another without you noticing. Also tasty: the vodka sour.

This is a great restaurant to go to if you want to drink fantastic cocktails and dine on amazingly well prepared food, and all at a very reasonable price! The interior design is definitely some of the best Manchester has to offer… the atmosphere here is a little bit special, a little bit exclusive without feeling excluding. You don’t have to eat here, the bar itself is large enough to accommodate 70 people, so you can soak up the great vibe and a decent cocktail without spending too much! The service was fantastic and the food was very interesting — modern versions of traditional favourite’s. They also have a DJ at the weekends, but the music is set at the right level, so that you can hear you fellow diners!

You can’t really go wrong with a night at Room. The place just oozes sophistication, the drinks are divine and the food is outstanding for the price. Located very centrally on King Street, Room stands out a mile from the crowd with its vaulted ceiling, dark-wood and wallpaper décor and slick leather banquettes. The bar too is slick and stream-lined, a great place to order one of their wonderful cocktails(most of which run at £7 or just £4 between 5−7pm Monday to Friday). I’ve only been here to drink myself, but I hear the food is exceptional, with close attention paid to both presentation and flavour. I plan to take advantage of their ‘January Sale’ though, where you can get 50% off the food portion of your bill, making an ordinarily expensive meal something of a bargain(to apply for this offer, yo must visit their website).

This bar was amazing. Loved the décor, the place really oozed stlye. The cocktails were fantastic nd the service was second to none. This place has a real cosmopolitan feel and the food is simply divine(excuse the cheese). Make sure you get down early as the place understandably gets full early on!

81 King Street has finally found a sucessful name to trade under in Room. The stylish restaurant and bar manages to combine contemporary chic with period grandure. Whether you chose to sip a sumptuous cocktail at the bar or dine in the restaurant you can’t fail to be impressed with the elegance. The menu consists of classic dishes with a twist such as Surf & Turf consisting of scallops and pork, Hotpot containing rabbit or Roast Monkfish Thermidor. The dishes are beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The portions are just right, considering they often contain quite rich ingredients. I chose to wash mine down the Room G&T cocktail whch was really refreshing and had it still been happy hour(£4 per cocktail or £2 per glass of wine Mon-Fr 5−7pm)I would have carried on drinking them all night. As well as offers on drinks Room often have offers on the food menu such as Magnificent 7 where all mains are £7. And until Feb they have 50% off your food bill if you dine before 7.30pm which makes what is potentially a reasonably expensive meal reasonably cheap. It’s also worth mentioning the service. The staff are freindly, professional and attentive. I have dined here on several occasions and can’t recommend it enough.

The Room is a funky Resturant situated in manchester(King St) Myself and my Partner went for a drink and a meal a few months ago, we started with cocktails in the bar then moved onto the restaurant for a three course meal. The service was fantastic and the food was very interesting — modern versions of traditional favourites. We Both had welsh rabbit for starters and then for main the hotpot which i would highly recommend followed by crème brûlée mmm yummy and all for less than £45 which drinks!

The bar at Room Manchester is amazing and is part of Room Restaurants, a group of individual restaurants with bars. With high ceilings and lamp shades, the décor is sexy and very inviting. Choose from the extensive cocktail and wine menus and relax in the bar or eat from British ‘Classics’ menu offering modern works of ‘retro’ dishes. At night the restaurant comes alive with an evening brasserie atmosphere that you would expect within any cosmopolitan city and Manchester is no exception.
