This is a cute little café, which offers really good value comfort food — the look of the food doesn’t do it justice as both courses I had were tasty and on Monday at 2 courses and a large glass of wine for £10 definitely good value. They also do 3 Courses and Unlimited Wine for £25 on a Friday and Saturday night. I had Chilli with Wedges and then a Turkish Delight Cheesecake… I don’t really like Turkish Delight but the rose flavour was mild so worked on a cheesecake really well. I did pop in and get a Marathon(Snickers) cake from them later that week, which was amazing

Who doesn’t love2eat? Alright, perhaps people currently suffering from food poisoning, gastro-enteritis, dysentery, allergies, eating disor — look, I’m not being literal here. I’m saying the clue’s in the name, if you enjoy a good munch, this is the place to park your posterior and get your chops around something delicious. Having found myself in West Dids less and less recently, I realised that I was seriously missing out. Yes indeed, the city centre’s great with N4 and the Oxford Road Corridor all within reach, but there’s just something about all those little businesses crammed into Burton Road that gets my heart pumping, tummy rumbling and 6pm, post-stressful day cocktail o’ clock motor running(I’m looking at you Drawing Room, with your delicious whisky sours). I’m also getting to that age where you gather with friends of a weekend, and several of them have children. When did THAT happen? Didsbury is to yummy mummies what N4 is to hipsters. Anyway, speaking of yummy mummies and small children, when my good friend and I met for lunch at Love2Eat there was indeed requisite madre with small baby at adjacent table. Family friendly this place certainly is, and Didsbury babies seem remarkably well-behaved. Upon entry, I was quite simply delighted. This place is packed with things Emma-Lou obsessed over. The banquettes and tables are littered with cookbooks. COOKBOOKS.(I read cookbooks in bed instead of stories.) Baking ones too, like Lorraine Pascale’s. The furniture is lovely. The space is tiny and cosy. I was treated very kindly from the moment I walked through the door, as was my friend when she joined me a little later and any requests we made were met with aplomb(such as our desire for bespoke smoothies). I ordered up a black coffee that met my caffeine standards mightily, and our sandwiches were lush. I couldn’t resist the hot chicken baguette straight off the rotisserie, and Eve’s ham, cheese and creamy mushroom toastie straight from the Breville looked all kinds of delicious. Their homemade coleslaw was great, and the array of cakes was mouthwatering. Too bad we didn’t have room for those wicked-looking Millionaire’s Shortbreads. The friendly staff are made all the more to feel like old mates via the colloquial, chatty menu. It’s humorous and fun, and the whole experience is one I’d love to repeat. As soon as possible. Anyone who doesn’t love2eat has a high change of being cured at this place!

Loved my food here. Not too pricy for what it is, good portions and above all everything tastes brilliant!

Soup of the day was cream of asparagus, and the bread with it was three different types — including tomato bread. Both the soup and the bread were faultless. I mean, what café serves asparagus soup, or asparagus anything?! And the variety in the bread made it a lot more interesting. The whole place is really cute — smallish, with white and pink décor, big windows and some outdoor seating at the front, and the upbeat looking staff all seemed to be enjoying themselves. All in all, a great introduction for me to the great vibe in West Didsbury with so many great eateries on Burton Road and Lapwing Lane.

Went to Love2eat earlier today for coffee and slice of cake. This place hasn’t been open long and is small, compact but very very welcoming. Coffee and peanut butter ‘blondie’ was delicious. Place was busy with people choosing from freshly made jacket potatoes, ploughman’s etc. What looked the best though were their fresh pies, small individual pies made on the premises. Don’t be disappointed if they run out of one thing as they will make you something else fresh. Will return and do another review based on dinner. Prices are good with the main course meals looking to be the best value. Only one girl serving today who was not only very attractive but extremely attentive to all her customers. Nice touches were offering someone a sample of soup before they ordered — not the usual café approach.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon Love2Eat on the weekend it opened, which also happened to be the Christmas Festival weekend in Didsbury. This brand new venture owned by Penny and Tim Lynch is looking very good indeed. The interior has been lovingly furnished with eclectic french furniture, chandeliers and bookshelves make it feel rather like a culinary boudoir. The food is just down to earth goodness in the form of pies, casseroles, stews, soups and home made cakes and biscuits. The best thing about Love2Eat though is their menu changes daily and you can bring your own booze! Can’t say fairer than that, can you?
