Great food at great prices, you really can’t go wrong! There aren’t many places you can have a really good lunch for £2.50-£5 and the portions are fantastic. I’d recommended the Paella if you’ve got a big appetite(I usually get 1 portion to share and it keeps me going till dinner). The soups are a great too and change everyday, the last one I had was ‘spicy parsnip’ which was delicious, a thick and flavoursome hearty soup. It gets really busy at lunch time so I’d suggest going after 2 during the weekdays if you want to sit-in. If not the service is fast and really friendly if you need to quickly grab something to go.

A Manchester institution! The Big Kat breakfast is one of the best fry ups in town, and later in the day the spicy Paella is the most filling, great value for money hot meal that money can buy. When I have guests from out of town, I usually head to Katsouris as its such a reliable option, and everyone always, always loves the place. What a great mix of English, Spanish, Greek food in a New York deli-style environment. Their cakes look awesome but I’ve always been too full to try one. The only downside is that there’s no restrooms, but there’s enough places nearby where you can pop in for a cheeky ‘visit’

I decided to come here for the Sunday brunch mainly because of the sensational Unilocal reviews, but Katsouris Deli didn’t completely convince me. I had the full English breakfast, that was ok, but of course not extraordinary. Moreover, the place was very crowded, so that the staff couldn’t care much about cleaning tables after people left, so that I myself had to clean mine. It’s necessary to queue at the cashier to order food; after that, waiters will serve you. Unfortunately my order took ages to arrive, due to the huge number of customers there, I guess. Nonetheless, the place was not particularly warm, and I was longing for a shelter from the freezing weather outside!

Greasy spoon menu, top notch quality I know the Bury branch of this deli and café and the menu carries over: strong coffee, giant breakfasts, hot lunches and snacks and bites, all with a Mediterranean twist. Always busy, the cheap and cheerful menu takes on the more expensive contenders on the other side of the street and more than holds its own. Worth waiting for a seat but beware if you’re a big party — sit at multiple tables to get served quickly and with a smile.

The portions here are huge! And all is really good too. I’d recommend the goats cheese salad, the brownies(gigantic!!), the little Italian biscuits(sorry don’t know name), coffee is good, decent salad bar… They have a cavery on each day and hot dishes including paella… not sampled these but I’ve heard good things! Only down side is that there’s no Loos :(

Enjoyed lunch here with a colleague, for s city centre eatery is very reasonably priced for what is tasty and satisfying food. Katsourisvso boasts a lively and eclectic clientele as you would expect in a busy centre without the vacuous undertones you get with a chain. Would highly recommend

Dropped in here for a slot of lunch after hearing positive things about this place from fellow Unilocalers! It definitely did not disappoint! We both ordered the meze platters which were enormous and so cheap… one between two wkuld have definitely been sufficient for lunch… especially each persons gets like half a loaf of bread too!!! The platter itself was delicious, really good homely hearty food… stuffed vine leaves, hallomi, houmous, hams, etc etc! They have a great selection on their menu and canteen style huge pots of daily specials which were also very tempting! I need to mention here that the dessert/tray bake selection on offer looked absolutely amazing, unfortunately we were both so stuffed after the platter that we couldnt even take a second look at them! Next time I plan one platter to share and one dessert each! :)

I’d heard amazing things about this place but for whatever reason had always opted for other joints. On this occasion I had a bit of time to kill before my train and needed a little something to tie me over until dinner — so I decided to give Katsouris a go & I’m so glad I did! For only £6.95, I got myself a Flat White, decent, a Bottle of Sparkling Water, refreshing, and a huge plate of Paella & Chicken, amazing! It may not look much on a photo, but it was some of the tastiest chicken and rice I’d ever had and left me so full I didn’t eat dinner that night! There’s is a real old school café feel to the place and I love it, the staff were welcoming and chatty and the fridges were stacked with to-go options if you’re in a rush. Yet another top Manchester eatery I’m in love with — thank god for the gym.

My parents were coming to stay for the weekend and the plan was to meet my auntie for a quick lunch before heading off for a spot of shopping. My Aunt is gluten free so we needed to find somewhere reasonable but with a menu offering more than the standard sandwich. We arrived around 1 and it was packed — having waited around for about 5 – 10 minutes people slowly moved on and we managed to grab a comfy seat. After perusing the menu a lot longer than the obvious regulars around us we all eventually managed to choose something! I opted for the paella with pulled pork — a huge portion with a massive amount of cooked meat for £5.50! It was delicious with just the right amount of spice; needless to say I didn’t finish my portion and took the rest home! My Aunt was also mega chuffed with her portion with peri — peri chicken and she can be a tough cookie to crack when eating out!(Kudos to you Katsouirs!) My mum went for the mezz platter with ham and all the trimmings — including a yummy salad, homemade humous and tzatziki sauce. She was impressed by how lean the meat was and was also stuffed after polishing off her large plate! You really cant go wrong with this place! 4 of us for lunch plus drinks was under £25 — where else in Manchester can you get this real value for money accompanied alongside really tasty homemade food?!

Oh my god, how can you not love this place? yeah, it gets crowded, SUPER crowded, but that’s part of the fun. The food is ridiculously good, and fresh, and the prices can;t be beat. Came here for lunch three times in a six-day trip to Manchester, and will return every single time I am in town.

TL;DR — A Manchester institution –if you don’t mind cosying up with strangers, it’s well worth it. Before moving to Manchester I’d discovered Katsouri’s completely by accident and have visited plenty of times since becoming a local. This place is a true Manchester institution but can be a bit intimidating to the newcomer. The first thing you need to know is that seating is always in short supply — if you can see some seats, grab them. You order your food at the counter and depending on what it is they’ll either give it to you there and then, or give you a spoon with a number on it — that’s your cue to go and find a seat. There’s all kinds of dishes on the menu, but we’re particular fans of the Lamb Sicilliana — juicy lamb on a hotly toasted ciabatta with peppers, aubergine, red onion and mint sauce. It’s absolutely delicious, hugely filling and remarkably cheap.

I’d been here once before, many years ago to grab a quick sandwich in a rush, but today I got the chance to sit inside the café, order some hot food and really check the place out. On the corner of Deansgate and John Dalton St, Katsouris Deli is not easily missed. It wasn’t too busy for half nine in the morning on a Tuesday and there’s plenty of seating inside. The café is neatly laid out and I can imagine that when it gets busy at lunch time with people popping in for sandwiches the way the place is organised will really help. There are so many things on sale here. Freshly made sandwiches and salads, hot food, breakfasts, meats on ciabatta(hot or cold). They have homemade soups that change every day and the coffee is pretty good too. I ordered the eggs florentine — 2 slices of thick brown toast, 2 poached eggs with hollandaise on a bed of fresh spinach. It was lovely! And at £3.95 you can’t complain! I’d definitely go here again.

One of my fav places for a good fry up! This place is off Deansgate. They do a mean all day breck called the big cat! 2 eggs, 2 bangers, beans, mushroom, 2 bacon, tomato and toast for £5.50. This place does salads, roast beef on ciabatta and roast dinners too. This place gets busy so be warned. :)

Amazing affordable unpretentious little deli. It does great food without any fuss. It’s a great place to have breakfast or just grab a quick bite. Service was friendly and swift. The atmosphere and the décor suits the place and I’ll definitely return to try a few more.

«A Manchester institution», said my friend as we walked past Katsouris on the way to the AMC. So in we went. I had a steak sandwich, and my friends respectively had a rum baba and a plate from the salad bar. My half-ciabatta sandwich was gigantic — respect to anyone who could eat a full one. The salad was fresh and varied. The rum baba was delicious but so sugary my friend grew concerned she was getting high from it(«I think I can see through time»). Service was helpful and cheery. Prices were reasonable. Seating was plentiful. I spent a long time eyeing up the paella and have decided it would make great hangover food. The major downfall is that there are no toilets. What on earth? This would put me off staying and ordering another coffee. Maybe they don’t want lingerers and loiterers? Who knows.

When you’ve been on a boozy Saturday all-dayer in Manchester, there’s only one thing that’ll sort you out the following morning: a good old fashioned fry-up. Thanks to good reviews from fellow Unilocalers, we headed straight up Deansgate to Katsouris where we were greeted with friendly staff, speedy service and a very well-priced menu, all housed in a lovely Victorian(I think) building. If you’re a bloke(or just have a mammoth appetite), order the ‘Big Kat’ Full English(just £5.50 and comes with two of everything). I opted for the ‘Little Kitten’ English breakfast(only £3.50, with one of everything) and wasn’t disappointed. Grab a table by the window, drink plenty of mineral water and just sit and watch the world go by. That hangover doom will soon evaporate, trust me. All in all, I would say our experience of Katsouris was pretty much purrrrfect!

This place is the bomb, officially. Loads of great looking cold sandwiches for under £3(so much cheaper than Pret) plus both fancy and standard soft drinks(including Dr Pepper yesssss). They also sell Italian groceries. The main event, however, is the carvery which also does paella and meze, both of which I have now sampled. At £4.50 the paella was outstanding value for the size of the portion, particularly as it comes with meat. As it was my first time trying it I was allowed 2 meat options and had beef chilli and a frankfurter as suggested, topped with cheese, obviously.). Who cares if it is authentic? It is impossible to get authentic paella out of Valencia anyway. Mezze was also really good, huge portion along with a mini loaf of fresh bread! I can’t wait to go back to try the various sausage/carvery meat sandwiches which rock in at about £3.50. There’s a charge for cards. Ps range of fresh brownies and muffins are also available… jfyi.

Katsouris is a Manchester institution and rightly so. I mean it’s an everyman to all your foodie needs being a gourmet deli, a hot meat sandwich station, a Greek meze centre as well as offering some of the very best full English breakfasts in town! My personal choice is to go for the full English while also keeping my wife happy as she goes for the salad bar or meze — or vise versa — you literally don’t have to choose if you’re feeling like going healthy or nursing last nights hangover! All of the ingredients are of the highest quality while the prices are actually kept pretty low by neighbouring restaurant/café standards. On this occasion I had a full freshly carved beef roll while my friend had piri piri chicken and both filled us up hugely even though they were under £4 each. Just a few tips 1. Tables are limited and sometimes at the weekends it’s super busy so try and go off peak either late morning or mid afternoon 2. It’s rammed in the day for take out at lunch time so give yourself an extra 15 mins if nipping in to get a sandwich 3. There’s no toilets inside so nip across the road to Byron burger and use theirs.
