Much much better than Lime Café. Largely the same average food and drinks. Admittedly they do a few nicer cakes, but they don’t do the range of hot lunches that is offered at Lime. However, rather than feeling incredibly stressed out in a horrible, busy, sweaty canteen with rubbish and food scattered everywhere, this place is quiet and relaxed. This makes it a great place to have a proper lunch break, or even sit down and do a bit of studying. Rebecca is right about the building, it could be the ugliest in the UK, and it is home to some architecture students. However, I would like to put forward the conspiracy theory that they have deliberately and cleverly designed an exterior that repels the populace, so as to maintain the tranquillity and peace at this little café… …No? No, probably not. Sorry.

Funny fact: the Humanities building is where the Architecture course is based(or it used to be). This is funny because the Humanities building is one of the single most ugly buildings on Campus, and is now mercifully masked by the slightly-better-but-still-shit Arthur Lewis. OK, so maybe you’re not amused by the fact about the Architects learning to build works of beauty in a building that looks like a concrete version of the crates veg comes in. I’m not a comedian, fer gawd’s sake. I used to have film studies seminars here. Film studies was my favourite thing, and as a result I was usually early for these seminars. Once I discovered Kaffe K, I began to arrive a good half hour early, to have a coffee and do last-minute reading on secret gayness in the Lion King or the vagina dentata. Muc like the rest of the Tiki franchise round Campus, the coffee here is solidly good, and will get you through even the most boringest lecture. This café also does some decent panninis, but I find that once they’ve been in the press, you’re left with a sort of anaemic, flat submarine, dripping melted cheese and tomato-water. Best to plump for a chilled sandwich or a jacket potato, then. The cakes on offer are from Wicked. Which means that although they look lush, they are basically a bit gross. But fresh fruit’s only 40p, so ditch that chocolate *flavour* muffin for a nice ‘nana. Quieter than Lime Café, and with a nice(ish) fishpond to gaze out at, this is a good place for a quick lunch or an in-between-classes caffeine pickmeup.
