A friend was visiting this weekend so we went for breakfast at Infamous. I really wish I hadn’t taken her here, I hadn’t heard the best things about the place but thought I’d decide for myself. We ordered drinks which took 20 minutes to come, had it been busy I’d of understood but it wasn’t. We ordered the Breakfast Plate(approx £9) and a Bagel with Scrambled Eggs and Guacamole! For the breakfast plate I asked for no mushrooms and scrambled eggs instead of fried which they happily agreed to. The scrambled egg was awful on both meals, far too much liquid making the bagel extremely soggy and drenched the whole breakfast. The sausages tasted like they were deep fried and were a poor quality, the toast was only shown the grill for a second as it was practically bread still, the hash browns were OK, bacon was too burnt, they got the beans right but I guess you can’t go much wrong with a can of Heinz beans! I won’t be visiting again & I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Really did not enjoy my visit here! From the outside it looks great, I was excited to have some good old American food. The meals took a long time to come, almost an hour wait and there was only 2 of us eating! The menu said my meal had avocado in it, one of the reasons I ordered it, but none on the plate! I left the place still hungry and paid a ridiculous £9 for a terrible meal.

I m a bit sad about this one I’m about to write for after so much waiting in anticipation to finally get to visit to this diner So full of promise and then fallen down on the final hurdle I came for lunch wether that as anything to do with the poor service and cold food plus it lack some of the things it said included on menu ‚ Is to be found out but sorry to say not by me ‚ We had the cranberry refresher which was £3 a pop and there’s so much ice and not a cranberry in sight ‚ Follow this with the all american cheeseburger and what not, and curly fries or/skinny chips which I didn’t understand the significant of Also a side of onion rings which sounds bloody fantastic ‚ Meal arrived cold no cheese salad slice of tomato onion ring had to ask again for only to be disappointing,(to much batter) ‚ The host was very attending hovering over us whipped our food away quicker than was brought doin so upset by it £16 pounds each I could have gone to McDonalds and had this plus ice cream as well three times over, no joy was had by me today better luck to the next ones who visit hope its a much better time for them . PS I do like the décor especially the car register plates -:-)

I visited here on Sat 13 of Feb for breakfast. Had never there before and wanted to try it out. It has a great American diner feel, a real throw back to the 1970’s, with music playing in the background. They do an all breakfast but I had to go for the pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the bacon perfectly crisp, would definitely go back for more. Overall it’s definitely a very quirky restaurant but it has a great feel and would recommend the breakfasts. Im looking forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.

We visited on a Saturday aiming for brunch but they stop serving breakfast items at 12pm. Anyhoo, as I got there early, I managed to secure one if the booths by the window for our group. The place is very impressive! The ceiling is shiny and the lights are dazzling. The staff are dressed as if they were ready for some rock n rollin’ too! It was authentic looking without resembling a Friday’s. The food was good, perfect if you like American diner food. We had Hash and Eggs — slightly too greasy(for me) potatoes, beef brisket and onions which were perfectly seasoned topped with two fried eggs; The Elvis toastie — perfect balance of sweet with savoury bacon and then dusted with cinnamon sugar; Bacon, Tomato and Cheese toastie and a Heavyweight Breakfast which is not as scary as it sounds! We got some sides to share — Mac and Cheese and Coleslaw. The food was quite good overall! The alcoholic milkshakes helped turned this into a bit of a boozy brunch! As it was the third week of January, we got 30% off our bill as part of their after Christmas promotion! If you visit this week, there’s a whopping 40% off! Will definitely make room to visit again!

Came here for some brunch, if you’re looking for something healthy then avoid at all costs, the lightest things I could see were a bowl of cereal(£2) or a three stack of pancakes(£3.50) additional to this, the only fresh fruit on site is a banana or strawberry/blueberry compote… My friend got the Big Mac burger(macaroni cheese) and wasn’t the most impressed, and especially didn’t like the coleslaw. The boys both got the heavy weight breakfast which all vanished very quickly so was the winner of the day! Service seems very friendly :) It’s ok as somewhere different to try, wouldn’t be rushing back any time soon though.

I went here with a group of 14 on a Saturday afternoon. It’s very near Shudehill and the décor is fab. They also serve prosecco so for that I’m not going to give one star, but for me this is where the good experience ended. There was very little on the menu I could have as almost everything contains gluten or dairy products. I finally managed to settle on steak and eggs, with gluten-free fries. As I’m not a fan of runny egg, I asked for my egg to be beaten. The food came out in dribs and drabs, with some of us waiting a lot longer to be served. When my meal finally came, my egg was scrambled. When I checked how it was cooked, it had been prepared with cream. I decided to leave at this point. Definitely don’t recommend if you have any food intolerances; probably okay for everyone else.

So after trying to find a place to eat on a rainy Saturday, and being turned away from many a place with no tables left, we decided on something easy and visited the Infamous Diner. First of all, can I say that the milkshakes are fantastic. It would have been a 1 star without the saving grace of peanut butter milkshakes with whipped cream, marshmallows and haribo sprinkled on the top. So if you’re wanting a shake(and have already walked past home sweet home) then sure, go in. But I didn’t go in there just for drinks. I went in for food. I wasn’t absolutely starving so decided on 2 sides– Mac and cheese and bacon fries. My mac and cheese was pasta with some cheese sauce on the top. Neither were especially great, and had no flavour at all. The bacon fries arrived and we all laughed… Chips, with the macaroni cheese sauce on top and(I’m not even exaggerating) 5 tiny bits of bacon on top. It was seriously less than a rasher. I would normally have asked the waiter to take it back, but our server already seemed annoyed that we were there to begin with. He was not a happy bunny. Instead of complaining I thought I’d just pre-warn the Unilocaling community and vow never to return there for food again.

Absolutely love this place. As soon as you walk through the door i felt like i was in a movie. I heard alot of good and bad things about this place. But wanted to try for myself and what better way than breakfast. We were seated on arrival. And given a menu. I ordered a latte. Pancakes with maple syrup and Nutella. They dud a large stack of 5 or a short stack of 3. I chose the short stack as that was more than enough. They were delicious really soft and fluff. Glad i didn’t order the large stack as 3 was enough. In Fact I struggled to eat my last of but i wasn’t going to waste it. I would say the diner is a winner from me and will be back soon

Having read the mixed reviews about the Infamous Diner on Unilocal I wasn’t sure what to expect. However I was pleasantly surprised. The place has been done out excellently. With extra touches like a jukebox, waitresses in 50’s style dress, red leather booths and American posters you really feel like you are getting the genuine American diner experience. We sat at the bar to start and there are a good selection of drinks on offer including coke floats and milkshakes. We didn’t have to wait long before being seated at our table and our waitress was really friendly and efficient. I ordered the mushroom and smoked cheese toasted sandwich with curly fries and coleslaw. The sandwich was very good and the quality of the bread was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the curly fries. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals but the general feeling was that there was too much food as the portion sizes made us feel a bit over faced. I’d definitely return to the Infamous Diner but not when I’m on a diet.

As you walked in, it was like walking into a USA diner. There was a 20 minute wait, so we went to the bar and got a couple of drinks. As the tables became vacant, they got them cleaned and sat you down straight away. On the menu, one side is full of drinks and the other side it’s full of all the different food available e.g. ribs, chicken in a basket etc. Being an American diner, I decided to have a burger with curly fries and a Knickerbocker glory to finish. The price came to £20 which I thought was reasonable. I would go back but try something different next time.

Infamous Diner is a new and upcoming restuarant located on the edge of the Northern Quarter just across the road from Shudehill metro and bus station. It’s a very good replica of an American Diner, serving the typical burgers, ribs, milkshakes and grilled cheese type sandwiches — definitely not a place to go if you’re on a diet. There’s a juke box, a popcorn machine, a wall full of American number plates, tv screens showing classic old movies and that’s before I even have a chance to mention the serving staff and their adorable 1950’s style uniform, the red leather booths and the rotating bar stools at the bar. All staff were cheerful and happy to assist, which adds to the American style atmosphere. A table had been booked for 9 of us on a Wednesday evening. Whilst waiting for everyone to arrive we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. There’s a good selection of drinks to pick from, ranging from freshly prepared milkshakes, bottled and tapped beer, wines, loads of cocktails as well as fizzy drinks and juice. One of our party was running a little late but the staff were happy for us to sit at our table and enjoy our drinks and didn’t pressure us to order. I ordered the Big Mac(aroni) burger with curly fries(there’s the option to have different types of fries instead of just standard ones with your meal at no extra cost). This burger consisted of macaroni and cheese covered in breadcrumbs and fried into a patty which was served between fresh white bread and garnished with salad. On top of the burger were three giant onion rings — pretty much the same diameter as the burger itself. All aspects of the meal were cooked to perfection and it was absolutely delicious. I believe that the portion sizes are a little too generous. I don’t think anyone at the table finished their entire meal and it was ashame to see food going to waste. The toilet doors in the female restroom definitely need a look at, I don’t think anyone in my party managed to successfully lock the door! I’d definitely say that this restuarant is worth a visit, espacially if you’re in the mood for a greasy burger or something else equally as naughty. I’m gunna head back sometime in the future to try out their breakfast as they do the typical American pancake breakfast — yum.

A friend and I decided to grab a quick bite for our late dinner(around 9pm) on a Monday and as it was really close to Shudehill for the Metrolink, decided to try out Infamous. As you can expect, it was very quiet inside at that time, but we had no problem being seated and served and the staff were friendly. They say they’re Manchester’s first American diner — and it’s certainly a gorgeous refurbishment with lots of 50s and 60s paraphernalia everywhere. The painted murals even continue along the walls down to the toilets in the basement. My favourite part was the tin-plated ceiling, the way it bounced the dimmed light around the place — an expensive extravagance but it makes the place more memorable. The menu is pretty comprehensive, with breakfast, pancakes, ‘baskets’, hotdogs, burgers, toasted sandwiches and desserts on offer. I decided to have their Fat Face dog(with pickles, pulled pork, mustard and ketchup) and my friend went for their BIG MACaroni burger(macaroni cheese, Monterey Jack, onion rings and homemade burger sauce — there’s no meat patty in this one!). Both were served with a decent portion of curly fries(crinkled and straight cut are also available). It was a hearty meal and hit the spot. I’d probably go for a burger next time though. For drinks, I wanted a childhood favourite, a Pepsi float — but as it’s only a dollop of ice cream in a coke, asking £3.50 for it was very much taking the Mickey. They’ve a great selection of American bottled beers as well as cocktails, shakes and wine. I’d very likely return, just maybe at a time when there’s more bustle inside.

We went here for breakfast and it was good. There were some issues hence not giving them a slightly better star rating but the staff dealt with the situations well, and if they rectify some little things I will be back to give them a higher rating. The food was really good, and we enjoyed the American dinner vibe, using novelty boards and things to take fun photographs of each other. Our first problem came when we asked for a high chair for the baby in our group, turns out they only have one, which was in use. Our next issue came with them having not made enough pancake mix, so having to wait longer than expected for some dishes. I do feel that we did rather well out of the second issue as they offered a complementary dish to the people who ordered pancakes and knocked 50% off the entire bill, which was a considerable discount considering there were seven hungry adults and a small hungry child at the table. I will be back, to be fair I feel most places deserve a couple of visits, and judging by the milkshakes alone I suspect that I will be back 2 or 7 times :)

My first experience of the Infamous Diner and probably not at the best time of day. I was in town quite early and looking for somewhere serving breakfast where I hadn’t been before so I ended up here. The diner is beautifully decorated as a 50’s/60’s American diner with appropriately matched music from the likes of Jonny Cash and Elvis Presley. The breakfast menu is somewhat limited. Choices are basically a muffin or pancakes. I think I made the wrong choice. I chose a sausage and egg muffin. There wasn’t anything fundamentally wrong with it, but it wasn’t particularly good either to justify the £4.50 price tag. The sausage tasted like it was of good quality but it was a bit too herby tasting causing it to overpower the taste of the muffin. Had a cup of tea with my muffin but was never offered a free refill. Where’s the American experience there?

I must start by saying this isn’t taking into account food, as I am yet to eat here. I stopped by the other day with a bit of time to kill until my train was due, so I grabbed a Milkshake and just relaxed here for a while. The Milkshake — Oreo of course — was brilliant. As tasty as it was unhealthy though I’d imagine from the thick rich taste, but nonetheless, amazing. The décor is great and I enjoyed sitting in for a few a people watching inside the restaurant and through the window. I really like the concept here, but reading other reviews indicates that maybe they don’t use it to the full potential. I absolutely love American Diners as they take me back to my glory days in the states, so I do hope that when I come back to try the food they’ve made a few improvement as I would love this to become my new spot when I need my Yank-fix. Come on Infamous Diner, step up to the plate.

On arrival you become enveloped in the all american diner experience, very easy to think you would be in the US or Canada, except no free refills on the coffee! It is very authentic having dined an many of these in North America. The food was delicious having a muffin with a delicious sausage pattie with fried egg, cheese and hash brown. That said the sausage had definitely been sourced as a quality product, but full of herbs, which would work extremely well on a cooked breakfast but NOT on a muffin with egg cheese and hash brown. The latte was a bit of a let down and tasted like something Grandma would make you at bedtime! I would try the place once more for lunch or dinner. I do hope the manager is forward thinking and takes customers reviews seriously because it is a great place in a good location and offers something Manchester hasn’t got elsewhere so would be a shame to see it hit the wall because they hadn’t just got some basic fundamentals right!

I came to the launch night of Infamous Diner and found it awesome. An American Diner experience, complete with 50’s style costumes on the waiters and waitresses, American shakes and a menu that looks incredible. I popped back last week to try them out at lunch time and to see if it was as much fun as the launch night. I ordered a red pepper houmous, avocado and montaray jack cheese toasted sandwich, or ‘grilled cheese’ sandwich as the americans would call it. It wasn’t as cheesy as I had expected, maybe my mind has been warped by that of Northern Soul Grilled Cheese, just around the corner. My friends ordered a hot dog and a burger, both of which were good. I like this place, and will be back to try their American breakfasts, but compared to so many other eateries in Manchester and in the NQ it just wasn’t as great as the hype. But, still worth going!

After checking out the pics done by Lucas, I bookmarked this place straight away. Food looked epic. So unbeknownst to us, we arrived on the softlaunch. It was horrible weather and we were more than happy to escape this. however although the restaurant was mostly empty we got turned away and asked to come back while they were transitioning from breakfast to the lunch menu… We put our name down and went for a drink elsewhere. Returning an hour later we were told there were still no tables despite it not being at full capacity… when we started to kick off the waitress suggested a side table seat with tall stools… we accepted but had that feeling these Seats had been available the entire time. Finally perched, we investigated the menu… Here this place offers a 60’s American food style to match the décor… hotdogs, burgers, chicken wings and pulled pork… the service was okay, represented by ladies dressed in Lindey bop polka dot dresses… we were lucky to get one vibrant Scottish lass who made our experience pleasant through out. We both ordered a milkshake each, Himself ordered the hotdog topped with chilli and I the Mac and cheese burger. While we waited I found it astounding how many people were turned away. yet the restaurant was half full… I really did not understand why… Anyway the milkshakes arrived, which were served in very slender glasses… my banana(which should have been vanilla) was tasty but was gone in a single slurp. definitely expensive for what I got. The food was a good portion. and okay. .but not memorable. and for the price(excluding soft launch 20% discount) I rather pop over to Solitas around the corner. Overall a bright inviting place but doomed to fail. The seating plan is terrible so you will never get enough people in… the menu choice is easy to exhaust, and the prices a bit steep considering the lack of creativity. The waitress we had was lovely. but not enough to come back.sorry. oh and they almost charged us for three main courses.

The atmosphere perfectly captures the all Americana style diner. It feels fun and happy days esc… Just without the Fonz, for which I am sad. The staff are friendly and the burger(although free) was gorgeous and tender, if not a tad small, but hopefully that’s as they are a sample, as if that was £9 I’d probably be a bit less enthused. In a town FULL of former burger joints with the all American wow factor, this place makes its mark and stands out nicely as something unique and fun. Will review the coffee another day, hopefully it lives up to the rest of the place ;)
