Duty Free sits just a few doors down from the horrendously-titled Luvyababes. Both offer fancy dress clothes for students attending their next Top Gun fancy dress night. It’s not all Top Gun though, with the opportunity available to dress up as a nun, a sailor, a builder, a prostitute. It’s all about just how ridiculous you really want to look really! This shop is really much the same as Luvyababes, with whole outfits in little plastic bags ranging from £10 or £15 all the way up much more. They also have a great range of fluorescent wigs, which tend to catch your eye when you’re walking past.

I probably sound like I’m reiterating the point the other reviews have made here but WHY is this place called Duty Free?!! It’s got absolutely nothing to do with Duty Free!!! It’s a good shop if you’re going to a fancy dress party, they have costumes and tons of garish makeup you could easily use as face paint plus coloured contact lenses and hair-extensions and all that kind of stuff. It’s handy as it’s in the Arndale you don’t have to trek all the way over to Afflecks. But it has nothing whatsoever to do with Duty Free.

Usually when you head into a duty free shop you are either just about to go on holiday or you have just got back from a holiday. Either way you are usually either extremely excited or nice and relaxed… all being well. These are not the emotions that spring to mind when I think of Arndale’s very own duty free. Furthermore Duty Free in the Arndale is in fact not Duty Free!?! It is just another shop that sells tat in the worst shopping mall in Manchester. You will need a holiday but you won’t find one anywhere near this place.
