Kills me to do this but on my last visit(my first visit) I can’t go above 2. I love the concept and the idea, a tasty quirky junk food option that does no burgers — yes I’m on board. BUT If you’re focusing on 2 main things, hot dogs and pizza — you need to nail them! The hot dog I had 1 Farmegedon was great, proper frankfurter sausage and none of those cheap imitations and piled high with chilli cheese and fried chicken. The pizza however, epic fail. On the menu it sounded fantastic and the waitress, who was great, recommended that over the cheeseburger one I was debating — in reality though it was distinctly average. The type of pizza you get at a small takeaway on a corner of Bolton town centre. I’m going to put this down to a one off and take the word of many trusted Unilocalers that this place is actually good. 1 more chance dogs n dough, 1 more chance.

Now i’m not one usually known for being a harsh critic but in this case i feel i have no choice. As a place that limits itself to selling 2 things, Hot Dogs & Pizza, you would expect them to excel in this field… sadly not. I went with a group of friends & as the menu was so vast & we wanted to try a bit of everything, we decided to do half & half on a Pizza & Hot Dog. We opted for the Meat Mayhem Pizza & the Farmageddon Dog. They somehow managed to make a Meat Feast pizza taste bland & i have genuinely tasted better from a Supermarket. The Hot-Dog was a marked improvement but still, the difference between what is described on the menu to what you actually receive is worlds apart. I really wanted to love this place but i just can’t. The staff were excellent & were always nearby to assist you with anything.

We came here for a friend’s birthday. This place was definitely trendy! A few steps down the alleyway off Cross Street, a cute sign helped guide us towards the pizzas and hotdogs. We’re then led downstairs to what looks like a nicer version of the bar Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn kept meeting up in in True Detective but without the sad singer. There were deep green booths decked with vintage lampshades and a full bar! The food looked amazing but was a bit on the stodgy side and very carb heavy — not really my kind of thing. There was a monstrosity of a pizza with burgers on it! The food is fun and definitely worth a try if you’re into this burger/hotdog/pulled pork endemic in Manchester. The BEST part of the night was the bar downstairs! The arcade games and pool tables! There are no draught beers downstairs but G and Ts were available so I was not bothered. You can book the pool table beforehand and all the games are free to play!

Dogs ‘n’ Dough has been on my food radar for a while, after a colleague at work suggested that it might be up my street during one of our surprisingly frequent discussions about food. I finally got around to going earlier today during a trip to the Christmas Markets. When we got there, we genuinely had to ask whether they were open as I think we were the first ones in for the afternoon. This did mean that there was no wait for a seat. The venue is a slightly dark basement with lots of booths and an almost speakeasy vibe about it with the green tiles and secluded entrance which is actually on Bow Lane just off Cross St. The music playlist during our visit was pretty good too; rock based but not too heavy. Score. There were a good range of drinks without it being overwhelming, with several options in both red and white wine as well as a good choice of bottled beers and sodas. There were only three options for draught, though: Coors Light, Longboard Pilsner and the Long Hammer IPA. I went for a pint of the Longboard, which was a nice easy drinking pilsner. The others I was with went for the Long Hammer, as well as the Chenin Blanc and the Pinot Grigio which were all well received. On the food front, as someone who frequently has difficulty deciding on what to eat, the menu was chock full of deliberation. Do I want a dog, or do I want dough? I went for a hot dog — but which one do I want? There’s a whole host of options ranging from a simple plain dog to ones piled high with fried chicken, chilli etc… In the end, I went for«The Cowboy»: a hot dog with chilli, bacon, nacho cheese, jalapeños and sour cream. The dog itself was not some weeny frankfurter but a hefty bratwurst type sausage with a good bite and lots of flavour, so if you don’t like thick skinned sausages maybe go for a pizza. The toppings were plentiful, though as a spicehead I wouldn’t have minded a bit more kick in the chilli and a few more jalapeños piled on. Not that I was complaining, the chilli may have been mild but it was packed full of flavour and went well with the sour cream and cheese. The bacon added a crisp, salty hit to round out one of the best dogs I’ve had in a long time. The others in our party went for the No Way Jose and Philly Cheese Steak dogs, as well as a Pig Lebowski pizza. All of it looked great, and went down a treat. As well as the titular dogs & dough offerings, we got a portion of the naked and chilli cheese fries and some onion rings with chipotle mayo. The naked fries were hot, crispy and well salted — a simple side done well. The chilli cheese fries were the same, but with the chilli from my dog and cheese piled on. Despite the semi-liquid topping, though, the fries stayed crisp and were thoroughly enjoyable. The onion rings were huge and well cooked, and the chipotle mayo was great. The only downside to our visit was that they made a slight mistake with one of the drinks orders after the meal, when one of us asked for a diet coke and got a regular — but they fixed it as soon as we noticed without any issue so points for that. Also, I’m not sure whether it was just to keep with the general theme of the rest of the joint but the restroom was barely lit. It also could’ve done with a bit of a clean, but trust me when I say it was very far removed from the worst I’ve ever seen in Manchester. All in all, we had an enjoyable — and filling — meal and the prices are pretty reasonable to boot. I’ll definitely be back again to eat my way through the Dogs side of the menu. And probably the Dough side too.

You would walk past this place if you didn’t know it existed! Hidden down a small alley off Cross Street this place is an american foodie heaven. I first went here on a Friday evening to soak up my wine intake and on arrival we were seated at the bar to peruse(yet another) wine menu whilst they set a newly free table. We were soon seated and our drinks were prompt however I was so torn on the menu between two(calorific) hot dogs which sounded like a heart attack on a plate! Feeling like I deserved a treat as it was Friday I went for the Philly Cheese Steak dog which was served with Steak, fried onions, BBQ sauce, peppers and cheese! It was the tastiest hot dog i’ve had in years! Not being one to normally order a hot dog or make one at home so this was a real treat! The added extras blew my mind — how come i’ve never thought about the possibilities to make a hot dog exiting?! We decided to also share some sides of coleslaw and chilli cheese fries(my favourite) and they also lived up to my expectations. This place has true value for money with the hot dog only around the £7/8 mark it doesn’t break the bank! If you haven’t tried this place already you need to head for dinner one mind — and arrive hungry!

First visited Dogs n Dough in the early evening, so getting a table wasn’t a problem at all, although adjusting to the dark interior did take a while. Greeted and seated straight away, drinks orders made(Budweiser if I remember correctly) and we started examining the menu. It took us a while to negoitate our options, but only because everything looked so good! After contemplating ordering far too much food and trying our best, we opted to share a Meat Monster Pizza(pastrami, ham, pepperoni, bacon) with a side of kiev fries(garlic butter, breadcrumbs, cheese). The food arrived in good time and was nothing short of amazing. The pizza was everything it promised to be and the fries were crunchy, cheesy and basically delicious. In short: great atmosphere, more than reasonable prices and great food.

Yummy food and cocktails here! Definitely go for the hot dog over pizzas they’re too good to turn down. A little tip-if you’re buying the dessert pizza make sure there’s at least 4 of you! More than a slice each is a challenge. That’s not to say it isn’t tasty as hell! Really reasonably priced and there’s usually offers on food, cocktails, beers, wine… something for everyone!

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! We stumbled onto Dogs ‘n’ Dough, but didn’t actually go in the first time. However, after striking out with some restaurants on a Saturday night(yes I still haven’t got the hang of the whole reservation thing), we headed to DnD. Their is a menu on the side of the wall next to the door, but be advised they have changed up the menu slightly so it may not be the same as the one you get at your table. At the bottom of the stairs, we were warmly greeted by a member of staff who said it would be a 5 – 10 minute wait, but they would sort us out. We had a seat at the bar and yes, they had ‘The Karate Kid’ playing on the t.v. On top of that they had awesome 80s music playing. Taking a look around there were green leather seats all over the place with posters of the different hot dogs and what they are comprised of. I told Mr. Snarky that this would have been a place my friends and I would have hung out at when I was at university. In fact, it reminded me of a couple of places I did spend a lot of time in. The music is quite loud, so don’t think you’re going for a quiet meal. In fact, you may want to bring your friends and have a group night out because it has that kind of vibe. We were seated really quickly… don’t actually think we waited 5 minutes. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. It was difficult to decide whether to have a pizza or a hot dog. I was a bit afraid that my hot dog wouldn’t live up to my expectations. However, since Mr. Snarky decided to go with a pizza, I decided I should try a hot dog… and some Chili Cheese Fries. So we ended up with the Chili Cheese Fries, Notorious P.I.G., and the New Yorker. Oh… and Mr. Snarky couldn’t resist a Strawberry Milkshake. Milkshakes are served in the metal cup they are mixed in, which is awesome… and quite frosty. The pizzas are served in pizza boxes, which is a pretty good idea if there are any leftovers(IF), but they do take up quite a bit of space on the table. While I like the posters of the different hot dogs, it did make me want to order those instead of the ones on the menu. The Chili Cheese Fries were absolutely delicious! I love their chili and think I will definitely get a Chili Dog next time. The hot dog has an awesome snap to it. Some people may think that the casing is too tough, but to be honest, I like a snap, not a soggy dog. The hot dog has amazing flavour… it is 100% beef, so it will taste different to the average dog, but I prefer it. The bun is sturdy, but delicious. In fact, it was sturdy enough I could pick up the hot dog and eat it without utensils. Typically I don’t like horseradish, but it went really well with the hot dog and the Pastrami. I didn’t think the Swiss Cheese added anything besides holding it altogether. The hot dog and fries were more than enough, but I could easily go for two hot dogs, hold the fries. Mr. Snarky’s pizza looked good with Cumberland Sausage, Apple, Onion, and Bacon. I didn’t see much bacon, but there were large chunks of sausage and apple. I’m not a fan of Cumberland Sausage, but the apple was quite interesting on the pizza… not a bad interesting, just a confusing sort of interesting. The crust is nice and I think I would be happy ordering a pizza as well. The music, the movies(‘The Goonies’ came on after ‘The Karate Kid’), the hot dogs… the whole thing made me feel very nostalgic and almost made me forget I was in the UK. As for price, it is a pretty good deal… you could definitely get a meal for under £10. Mr. Snarky and I really enjoyed our experience and can’t wait to go back and try out more of the menu!

Aw I really liked it here! For some reason I got totally ravenous at around 2145 and started freaking out about all the restaurants closing and could only think of this one nearby that might still be open so basically kept saying«Dogs n Dough» «Dogs n Dough» over and over again until Rana M capitulated and escorted me to that over-mentioned establishment. Inside was very American but sort of authentically(although I can’t really tell anymore). There’s a lot of dark green leather and a Rolling Rock sign. Owner/manager impressed me by saying they would keep serving until at least 11pm basically to do more business. EXACTLY. THATISTHECORRECTATTITUDE. No hipster prancing about looking-moody-instead-of-serving-people-here. My small business heart was deeply gratified. Our server was also excellent, quick and attentive. They have what I will boldly declare as the best strawberry ice cream milkshake in Manchester and also a great looking list of cocktails that are £4.50 during happy hour and can be eaten alongside various delicious snacks. Food wise, the dogs, as Andrew Y. mentioned, have a rather odd hard outer skin but I actually quite liked that. I didn’t realise my burrito dog would actually come in a wrap, but it was pretty tasty. Next time I want the one with Doritos. Or the Reuben. There’s a lot of choice. There is also a MAC N CHEESEPIZZA whaaaaat. Sides: onion rings were giant, and good, and chilli cheese fries were as always a delight. Do not come here if you are on a diet. I will obviously be back here ASAP. FYI all the dogs are 100% beef.

Hiding down a small alleyway just off Cross St. is one of the best places for casual, ‘I’m hungry’ and ‘feed me now!’ eats. I’ve been to dogs n dough a good few times now and I love it here! It can be quite hard to find if you don’t know where you’re going but I think this almost ‘secret’ location stops the place from getting overly busy. I’d hate it if I couldn’t get a table! You go down some stairs and end up in a basement type restaurant which is quite dark and reminiscent of a very modern American diner with booths. The menu, like the restaurant name suggests, is either dogs or dough(Hot dogs or pizza) which is simple and I love the concept. There is a fantastic choice of both — with my heart always leaning toward the dogs. And that is saying something! I’ve tried a few different hot dogs here — but the burrito dog is a must try! An amazing juicy bratwurst wrapped in a flour tortilla with chilli, guacamole, salsa and cheese — fabulous. The cheesy fries are a good shout too! It’s messy, fun and tasty. And reasonably priced too! No wonder I love this place.

Went here few months ago. Its a nice venue but can but can be tricky to find if you don’t know where to look — its down a small side street off Cross Street. They have a wide selection of hot dogs with all sorts of different toppings. Also have pizzas including a dessert pizza(covered with nutella and various toppings). Sounds a bit wrong to me! I have the Philly Cheese Steak hot dog. Was OK. However, I don’t like the actual sausage they do here with its hard skin. I thought I maybe choose the«wrong» hot dog but did try another hot dog from Dogs N Dough at an event recently and the sausage was the same with the hard skin. Its just a personal thing as most people like the food here — if you look at the other reviews here. Its just not for me — plus I will always be a burger person more than a hot dog person. As I said nice venue and also the service was good. Giving it a score of 2 seems harsh but since the hot dogs are such an important part, I am sticking with a 2. Its a «good 2» though — if you see what I mean!

After a long day at work and in need of a catch up, my friend and I headed straight for Dogs ‘n’ Dough on a miserable Manchester Wednesday. We went for one of the combinations on offer — 2 hot dogs and a bottle of wine for £20 — and were more than ready for the food we indulged in! First up was the savoury; I went for the burrito dog and wow, what a dog. Wrapped in a tortilla and served with chilli, guac, salsa and cheese, this was a little bit of something different. The flavours worked really well together and the wrap meant less mess! We also shared a portion of cheesy fries, which were perfectly cooked as always and devoured in moments. The came the real reason we had been counting down the clock all day — dessert pizza. Those two words may sound like they don’t match but, trust me, they do. Nutella smeared on a pizza base and topped with 3 sweet options of your choice and one sauce, served warm, and you’re ready to go. We decided(after a fair amount of deliberation!) on milk buttons, smarties and marshmallows with raspberry sauce. The marshmallows were simply amazing as they were gooey and melted, and the smarties provided a really nice crunch during bites! It was the biggest sugar rush in the world but totally worth it. We could barely drag ourselves out of the door but it had the desired affect. Happy diners once again.

A sizeable group of us rocked up to D ‘n’ D on a Thursday eve to sample some more of what Manchester had to offer in the ‘gourmet junk food’ category. Tucked away down a back lane just off Cross Street and a stone’s throw from the Town Hall, it’s neon sign outside beckoned to us like an ‘insectocutor’ would to a fly(but in a good way). Head downstairs and through the doors at the bottom and you’re met with a lowly lit, green interior with a fair few leather-bound booths. The menus had just been updated with a host of new options, so I was told, so it was a new experience for most of us(some of the group had eaten here before). We ordered drinks, which comprised mainly bottled beers and cocktails. I had a Kona Brewing Company’s ‘Fire Rock Pale Ale’ — a Hawaiian beer which was pretty good indeed. They also had ‘Big Wave Golden Ale’ which I was told was also very nice. The cocktails that were ordered looked to be of a decent size too. Next it was the turn of the food. The vast majority of us went for hotdogs with side orders of fries(I opted for the ‘Hunting Dog’ — BBQ chicken, Swiss cheese and crispy bacon — with cheese fries which was deeelicious). A couple of the gang had pizzas which looked to be packed with cheese and toppings. For me though, this night was all about the hotdogs. The place was probably half-full when we were there so it wasn’t as bustling as I imagine the weekend is, but the service was very good and I’m now one of their newest fans. Woof woof.

Once my boyfriend got wind of a restaurant specialising in pizza and hotdogs, it was only a matter of time before we ended up going there.(This is a man who remarks that he wants pizza on average once a day, and loves hotdogs probably more than the next person.) We went along on a Saturday evening at about 6.30pm. It wasn’t hard to find having looked up where it was beforehand, though I can see how you might just walk past it if you didn’t know it was there. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff, though I felt it was a little odd that they straight away asked if we had a booking. It didn’t even really occur to me to book at this sort of place — I thought they might have gone in for the ‘no bookings’ trend. Nonetheless, the staff here were really friendly. As in, they seemed like genuinely chatty and nice people. I couldn’t see any draught beer other than Budweiser and I decided I could live without that so I ordered a bottle of Longboard, which was quite nice. To share we ordered a hotdog, a Caribbean Dream pizza and a portion of naked fries. Which hotdog we ordered is a mystery to me right now — I vaguely remember it having crushed tortillas on top, and I can’t find anything like that on the website so it might have been a special. I remember that it was tasty, though! The food was all good: arrived quickly and hot, good simple flavours, very decent price. The pizza didn’t have any pineapple on it even though the menu stated so.(I’m not the hugest fan of pineapple on pizza anyway so decided not to mention this to the staff). Overall we had a big feed for a pretty small price. I will be returning when I just want some simple, tasty food in a comfy, friendly place.

I’d been meaning to try out D&D for a while so when I won one of their competitions a few days ago, I was over the moon! I managed to bag 4 pizzas, 10 cocktails and a dessert pizza — get in! And the best part? I only shared them with one other person — Gavin L. So, as you can imagine, we did NOT leave there sober! The cocktails were awesome — full of flavour and the bartender wasn’t shy with the measures. We ordered different ones from the menu each time but they were all so good, it’s hard to pick a favourite. We ordered two pizzas to start off with — the Meat Monster and the Triple Threat(topped with mini beef burgers and chips), both came served in cardboard takeaway boxes. I have to admit, I wasn’t blown away by the pizzas but the atmosphere and the music more than made up for that. Whoever chooses the tunes there has seriously got good taste. We still had two more pizzas to order but we were so full after the first ones, we told them just to bring us the dessert pizza. When it arrived, we took one look at it and shook our heads. It was piled with marshmallows, M&Ms and other chocolatey things. We simply had no room for it so decided to give it to a homeless guy in the street. My good deed for the year! Anyway, all in all, we had a fantastic evening at D&D. I’d love to try out their hot dogs so will definitely be returning sometime soon.
