This is an odd little place! It’s very friendly, cheap and shows footy. It regularly has identity changes though and I do fear for its longevity due to that. The food is ok and the beer on offer is generic. This was the pub the Ajax fans trashed when in Manchester… I’m not sure what’s stranger… Having such a reaction to a friendly bar or managing to find it!

How a week changes things! Only last weekend I was singing the praises of Binary Bar as a second to none destination for their large full English breakfasts to friends and colleagues on an evening out, after many good experience. Unfortunately, I need to take it all back, with the very poor experience I have just had. After ordering, the not cheaply priced(£6.95) large breakfast, it appeared 25 minutes later(not to mention later than the breakfasts of the four gents who had arrived and ordered the same 5-minutes after me), without the usual excellent quality sausages. When querying, I was told they had ran out and apologies for not being told. When I followed up with why did the breakfasts of the four gents have sausages? I was told that these where vegetarian sausages’ and I could have one of those or another replacement item. After waiting 25 minutes in the first place without being asked and with my coffee cold in front of me, the last thing I wanted to do was to wait further time for a an additional breakfast item. The quality of the items on the plate also seemed to have declined in quality compared to previously. £6.95 for half a plate of tined beans, a couple of slices of toast, a hash brown, raw tomato, x2 slices of bacon and the dreaded black pudding is not a good deal — £3.50 at the most. You can’t charge city centre prices for a sub-greasy spoon offering, especially with such strong competition just around the corner. A simple ‘thanks for your feedback’ was all that was offered, when I complained.

Binary me to heaven right now! This is an almost regular friday haunt for me or used to be anyway. My appearances have fallen off the radar somewhat recently. A place to celebrate two days of freedom and escapism. The place is a a local for young professionals who live in close proximity. City living is appealing because of establishment such as Binary dotted across the city centre map. The atmosphere is great and it is slightly less rowdy than a pub to watch a decent champions league game or two with your mates. It is however slightly hidden as it is not in the thick of the action in a cluster of bars such as on deansgate for example. This in fact is a blessi in disguise as only people in the know frequent here, a select crowd of know how people is my cup of tea, and if you agree, then come hither to the«BB»!!

Binary Bar, in my humble opinion, is perfection in a bar. In fact, I’d like to send the owner a thank-you card. Tucked neatly underneath the Moho building in Castlefield, the clientele are young professionals looking for somewhere to relax. Binary Bar fits the bill. It is technically a sports bar as it has a several meter squared projector screen that seems to show every football match worth seeing. However, it often has a DJ playing at the weekend, and is therefore open until 2pm. The food. The food here is nothing special, its bog standard pub food. But isn’t bog standard pub food great? It is exactly what you need if you’re hung-over or you want to watch the football or you can’t be arsed to cook after a hard day in the office. The factor that wins you over is the price of the food. A burger and chips is a fiver, and a panini and chips is only £3.95. Yes, you read right £3.95. Amazing! The drinks — are disgracefully cheap as well. 2 bottles of Corona will cost you a mere £3.50. Even better; too cocktails are only £6. I would recommend the Daiquiri, they are beautiful! This place even has a private room at the back that you can hire out for big footie games, or even just a bit of larking around. It has a massive T. V, as well as a Playstation and even a Wii! Whatever you are intending to do with your time, Binary has the answer. It is perfect for a few pre-night out drinks. It is perfect for watching a big exciting game with lads. It is perfect for lounging around when in possession of a hang-over and in need of a hair-of-the-dog. Perfect, perfect, perfect!

Everyone loves a good party, but being the host(ess) with the most(ess) can be stressful. That’s why you should let the friendly folk at Binary take care of your party needs for you. I attended a party there last night, where our group of 10 or so gathered in the back room for pizza, beer and Wii action. It was the perfect venue for a small group and the attentive(but in one case, slightly strange) staff did everything they could to ensure that our needs were catered for, including shifting several extra tables from the main room so that we had enough space for the gigantic feast we had ordered, and providing spare batteries for the Wii remotes. The pizzas were thick, gigantic and generously topped(2 eggs on the florentina!) and great value at less than £5 each(you get 20% discount for orders over £50). Beer was also good value at £3.50 for any 2 bottles, including Peroni, Bud and Corona. Highly recommended, especially if you’re lucky enough to live nearby in a swanky Castlefield apartment. Otherwise it’s a 5 – 10 minute walk from Deansgate Locks, heading away from the city centre.

What does Binary Bar not do? Apart from raves, I certainly can’t think of anything. It serves food: breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has a brand new menu that’s very cheap, especially the Panini and chips for less than £4. It also does a bigger burger than anyone can eat at only £6.50. And as Alexandra S mentions, all pizzas are £6. For me the best is a cross between an American Hot and a Sloppy Giuseppe(if you’re familiar with Pizza Express terminology) and in my opinion it’s as good as both. For the mornings they do coffees, teas and muffins also available in a meal deal, and it’s a lovely spot to sit and use the internet. Drinks are remarkably cheap, especially in their January Sale going on at the moment. Corona and Peroni is available for just £1.50! Half the price of anywhere else in the area. Even outside the sale period its pretty good value, with Cocktails from £3.95. Yes, they do Cocktails as well! They have a massive projector screen showing all live sport so it’s a great place to catch the football. Often on a Monday they have movie nights showing anything from classic films to modern blockbusters(pick up a leaflet for the schedule). They also have live music and DJs on occasion and the place showcases art that’s available from a lovely little gallery thirty seconds down the road. Its also open till 2am on the weekends and midnight during the week! The best part is a room at the back you can book out, with space for about 10 – 15, a big screen to watch sport, a playstation and a wii! Binary Bar is worth a visit whatever time of day or night.

The Binary is everything you need in one café/bar. A friendly place where you feel you could waste away the day drinking coffee, surfing the net and eating one of their many dishes that aways seem to be on offer. Currently any pizza is £6, which, for a pizza lover such as myself is definitely the way to make me return… again and again and again. With is dark and intimate interior and friendly staff this place instantly relaxes me and makes me feel at home. What’s more is during happy hour(which I recall is from around 5−9pm) its two for one drinks on selected beers… always a Brucey bonus! As an extra point: sign up for a loyalty card on their website, with it you get: 10p for every pound spent free coffee every morning a free drink after getting a card and £2.50 on your card If that’s not an excuse to try somewhere then your probably a recluse and you might as well stick your takeaways :)

If it wasn’t for Binary bar you would currently be wondering why you are staring at a blank screen and I would be in a dark and WiFiless place and probably wondering why everyone else is staring at a blank screen. Because of this, and the fact that I think the HANDSOMEANDPERSONABLEBARMAN can see what I’m writing, this is going to be my first completely biased review. Binary is a wonderful place where problems just drift away, sometimes in the night I wake up in a startled and sweaty panic then I realise that it was all a dream and nobody has really taken my Binary away from me. Binary has food deals, happy hours, free internet, free coffee before two, sport on a huge TV. and a loyalty card that although very similar in appearance to a hotel(that I cannot name) room card, will not actually permit entry to your hideously overpriced room, meaning you end up locked outside until your girlfriend turns up with the other one two hours later… thanks Binary, thanks.
