I called in Bar Burrito on a recent trip to Manchester, looking to try out a new place. After a pleasant phone call experience regarding gluten free options available. As described to me, this is basically like a Subway for Mexican food and burritos, but with the pricing of Marks and Spencer for food which is basically like the scrapings from the left over meal you give to your dog. It is quite expensive here, and I don’t think they took my allergy as seriously when I physically entered the store, although my server seemed okay, she could have done more to convince me it was a good place to eat for gluten free, like what happened on my phone call with the store. I ordered a naked burrito with mild salsa, and some of the add-ons, honestly with the lack of a menu, with it being«Do you want this? That?», I basically didn’t have a clue what I was ordering or getting, I actually though I was getting some sort of burrit, rather than something that looked like a pile of scraps worth pennies, rather than £8.75, without a drink! The salsa was probably the only thing nice in the meal, and they wasn’t a lot of it, the beans didn’t taste very nice and the meat and combination of everything else, just simply tasted cheap and tacky and like scraps, and quite poor. I also ordered some chips /nachos, which were okay but they also were not what I was expecting, I was expecting more like chips as on the menu, which adds to it being more confusing. I ordered cheese sauce for extra, and she said she would bring it over to me, but I had nearly finished my meal for when it arrived, and what I did taste of it, simply tasted cheap and sickly, which considering it was«freshly-made and straight out the pan», that is unacceptable. I certainly won’t be rushing back here, or to any other branches in the future, with poor service, a confusing menu, low quality food and high pricing being the main reasons for the 1 star.

I really like Baburrito and would recommend it to anyone who wants high quality fast food. There are meat, chicken and veg options that you can have served as a burrito, tacos or nachos. The staff make the food in front of you to your specifications and it always looks really fresh. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is clean and pleasant to sit in whilst you eat your meal. A good fast food option.

Manchester restaurants tend to close fairly early even at the weekend and many advertised closing times are not the closing time of the kitchen. We were therefore slightly despairing but Barburrito came to the rescue. While I prefer Pancho’s burritos overall I did like the crispy tacos I got in here last time — the server was also really helpful recommending which sauce and mixing meats. I would definitely pop in here again for a late night bite(they close at 11pm on Saturday).

As far as fast food goes in piccadilly gardens, this is the fastest and most filling. The prices are reasonable… i wouldnt get a drink or sides without a voucher code as they are fairly pricey. The queue was out of the door today and still only took 5 minutes from entering to leaving. Also… peppers and onions are free here… in the trafford centre you have to pay :-)

Had my very first burrito from this place not so long ago, and I was not disappointed! For a big franchise of quick takeaway food, their food is pretty bloody tasty! Well impressed :) cheers Barburitto!

Bar Burritos is in Picadilly gardens and if you’ve never been then you should definitely give it a try. I had a burrito with chicken and salsa. You can have it in a bowl or a taco with steak, pulled pork and fried vegetables. If you get a soft drink you can get free refills here. The food is very tasty and of high quality as well as very well presented. You can get a loyalty card and when you buy 9 burritos you get a free one. One downside is they charge extra for mushrooms and guacamole!

Let’s begin with the obvious, this is not authentic Mexican food(see optional mushroom filling). But it is part of an overall larger step to bring California Mexican food to the UK, which is commendable if not darn right admirable. I’m from California, born and raised. And the best thing we do in California is produce outstanding Mexican food(we also make an occasional movie). We perfected the burrito, taco, quesadilla and invented the Hass Avocado. You’re welcome world. But I digress, Barburrito offers traditional fare, burritos, tacos, bowls and nachos. Average price is $ 6. The seasoned rice is more Indian in nature than Mexican, there are hints of curry. The mushroom filling is a bit off and should be 86’d. The salsa is good but could do with a little more spice. The pork burrito is tasty and filling. I spent the extra pound for the guacamole and it is worth it(btw guacamole always costs extra at home so don’t fret about having to pay a little extra). The beer selection is decent, I opted for the Negra Modelo and it did not disappoint. Until you take the trip to California to taste the real thing, Barburrito will be there for you.

I’ve been a big fan of Barburrito since it first opened. Fresh fast food done well — so no guilty junk food come down afterwards. The price has recently gone up, but veg is now included for free and the burritoes are noticeably more filled — so really they’re just adding the paid-for extras in and making that the new standard. Not much else to say since it’s take out with not much of a seating area. If you’ve been to subway, then you know how it works. I know there are now dozens of different burrito brands around the country, but Barburrito will always have a place in my heart.

One of the first things you see when going into Piccadilly Gardens is Burger King, then you notice all the people, and then, you see Barburrito and realise that nothing else in Piccadilly Gardens(or even Manchester.?) matters! Everywhere does burgers, everyone serves does chips, but who makes Burritos? Barburrito, that’s who. Think Subway meets Mexico, and added extra YUM into their dishes. I always have the same whenever I eat there, because it’s never made badly nor leaves me wishing or wanting for more. I’m sure I read somewhere on Facebook there were thousands of combinations for the different food served at Barburrito, and one day I will try them all, but as long as they keep making my mega meaty buritto, I won’t get past the first one. If you are after convenience food, and can’t decide whether to sit down or get a takeaway, you just know you want something tasty, freshly made before your eyes within minutes, then Barburrito is the place to go. Seriously. Like right now. Go!

Positives: — It exists(Mexican fast food in Manchester). — Student discount. — Relatively tasty. Negatives: — Blatant Chipotle/Qdoba ripoff with same pricing and lower quality. — Lack of freshness. Tortilla was stiff. Rice was hard. Had to pass on the lettuce because it looked dated.

«Food that Mex the world spin faster»… A cute sentiment, but on leaving the only thing spinning was my head… Why is this place so popular? Compare it to the popular mini-chains and peddlars in London like Benitos Hat, Chilangos, Luardos or even US import Chipotle, and you’re left reflecting on an experience bereft of any authenticity or unique flavour. The likelihood of any genuine Mexican input into the operation is low — flavours are muted, ingredients lack freshness, and presentation is sloppy. The only nod to anything south of the border is the predictable Modelo/Corona beer offering *YAWN* It is a world away in comparison to those operations in the capital who are more successful in their offering: BarBurrito smacks of a weak copy of what is already an imitation — almost everything seems bland and lacking in any zing or zeal. No specials on offer to step outside of the burrito safety zone; no sopas, tacos, enchiladas, desserts, Mexican sodas — nothing to suggest you’re in a place who cares about what they’re feeding your apart from the rather disingenuous«Ave you been here before? /Mate, best way to eat it is to peel the foil like *this*…». Thanks. For. That. Barburrito didn’t surprise me as being a disappointment, but the lack of a Mexican immigrant population shouldn’t preclude a decent stab at offering their cuisine. London’s Mexican population wouldn’t fill Accrington Stanley’s Away stand but it still offers a decent — and ever-improving — crack at their food… What am I trying to say with this review? I don’t think I know actually — and possibly owe you 20 seconds of your life back — other than if you’re wanting a fresh, tasty burrito, definitely go elsewhere, even if it requires a 350-mile round-trip…

I want a Barburrito right now. In my current state I would take any food(so hungover) but Barburrito would be my first choice if it wasn’t Sunday/9o’clock/in town/illegal to break into places. From the day my father told me about this place I have loved it. I became a Chipotle fanatic during my time in America and Barburrito is the only place we have that even comes close. Why’s everyone so down about it? Yes, it could do with a few tweaks(especially in terms of the veggie options from what I’ve read) BUT it’s Mexican food and that’s what does it for me. The pork is always moist and I always leave satisfied. Sometimes we have the occassional mishap where someone is working and they speak really quietly/ignore what you’re saying/are reading off a script so get completely thrown off when you skip the add ons and have to go back a step in the process just because they can’t cope otherwise. Anyway, as it’s not heavy on customer service, I will forgive and forget. Oh, and refillable fountain drinks? EVERYWHERE should have them. It’s basically the number one thing about America, they love fluids, as should we. Overall, yum. They could learn a few lessons from Chipotle but, for basically the only Mexican place in Manchester, they’re doing a top notch job.

I came here the other day and my god! This place is revelation. People are gonna think i love everything. But seriously! It’s a-mazing! I love mexican food and recently discovered the delight of taco bell in the Arndale food court. But Barburrito has certainly raised the Bar… burrito.(Ha!). To be fair, I didn’t actually get a burrito, I got the tacos. You get three little taco shells and they go along filling it with bits you ask for, like some sort of latino subway. It was delicious and quick. Well worth however much I paid(I should really pay attention how much money I give people). To top it off, I was allowed a beer!(Not an alcoholic) And it was one of my favourite beers, the very Mexican ‘Desperados’(Made in France) I’ve seen some more reviews of this place and maybe I’m naïve, but I loved it and I will be going back!

Barburrito ist wahrscheinlich«as close as you can get» zu den Mexikanischen Burrito Buden in den USA.

I’m not being crazy but I don’t like their food. My boyfriend loves it. I remember that few months ago, we used to go in there all the time to buy something. It’s not that I don’t like the taste or something, I don’t like the way is being served for instance. I mean the mixture of meat with rice with corn, bleah. Just not for me. I mean separately sounds ok, but not all in a pitta. On the other hand, if you eat of their meals, you won’t have to eat for the rest of the day. And it’s healthy food as well. Oh yeah, if you’re a student you get a discount as well. 10 – 15 per cent, so it’s nice to get some stuff reduced isn’t it? Probably this is the first place that I recommend to everybody although I don’t like their food. Because I know is fresh, I know is good for you and it’s tasty if you’re into this type of food. I’s not fair to say is rubbish just because I’m not into it.

Barburrito is best described as a Mexican-style Subway. You pick the size of your wrap, you pick the filling, you pick the salad, you pick the spiciness of the salsa, they wrap it up for you and ask you if you want nachos and a drink, you help yourself to a drink from the soda fountain and either sit down with your burrito or take it out. It’s not *that* confusing. On the couple of occasions I’ve eaten here, the staff have been really friendly and helpful. When I came here with my incredibly fussy vegetarian friend who won’t eat vegetables or herbs, they even gave her a discount on the standard veggie price because she was basically ordering a wrap with cheese. It’s a nice concept, and does make a welcome break from Subway or Greggs. However, it is pricy for what you get, with burritos between £4 and £5, adding £1.25 for guacamole and £1.50 for a fountain drink. They also do Mexican beer for £3 a pop. Students — you get 20% off.

My, my, I am surprised… this place has won Manchester Food and Drink awards, yet it inspires so much hate in Unilocalers? I am here to take the blue corner and offer a few words of support for bullied Barburrito. First of all, there’s not enough decent Mexican places in Manchester. I’m not precious about my Mexican food, it is one of my favourite cuisines but I doubt highly that I’ve had anything remotely authentic in my life(I’m probably more of a Tex-Mexer to be honest) bar Spanish takes on that particular type of food, which I have enjoyed and am inclined to trust. But I wouldn’t touch Chiquito with a bargepole, no way. What Barburrito offers is a cantina feel, a fast-food option where your burritos, tacos, nachos and burrito bowls come made fresh with whatever you want. Okay, so they’re taking the mick a little by charging for guacamole, salsa, cheese and sour cream. It particularly ‘does my head in’ because I like to have all of those things on my burrito, otherwise it just ain’t cricket. Or… a burrito. It sucks slightly that the vegetarian option is simply mushrooms in place of meat — some Quorn or a mixture of vegetables would have perhaps been more substantial, but I’m afraid I can’t argue with my tastebuds. I’ve enjoyed my food here, and the fast-food style is less McDonald’s, more street vendor, kind of like what Rice has going on around the corner. It won’t be the cheapest lunch you ever eat, but neither will it be the most expensive. If you like Mexican fare it’s one of the very few and better options in this city. A word of warning, though, the food is messy. Maybe not one to take back to the office.

This place is basically a Mc Donalds for those who are a tad more adventurous. You choose the bread and what fillings you want etc. Overpriced for what you actually get and probably really unhealthy indicated by how much cheese they load on the things. Staff were unhelpful and the whole process of choosing was tres confusing. Will not be going back there again in a hurry! Think I would rather stick to a subway… and that’s saying something!

If you haven’t already been put off by the tacky name and Piccadilly Gardens location then you are the type of character with enough fire in your belly to enjoy an evening consuming the ridiculously spicy food on offer at Barburrito. Unless their is something my mother hasn’t told me I’m not Mexican. But if I was I would probably be offended at this cheap caricature of a country and culture the owners clearly have no understanding of. I would laugh till I cried little Mexican tears at the feeble attempt that has been made at an authentic menu. I would pour South American scorn all over the pitiful version of Sangria on offer. And I look let choice Spanish language fly at the entirely uneducated version of Mexican style décor on show. But of course I’m not Mexican and as such I’m going to remain completely impartial(nod nod wink wink).
