I don’t think any review will do Bangers & Bacon justice for the help they provided us over the last weekend. Looking to do something special for my dad’s 60th, we contacted Richard & James to discuss a private supper club for the 6 of us. Nothing was ever a problem and our questions throughout the organisation process were answered quickly — and with that well known Bangers & Bacon personality! We were able to fully decorate their unit at The Kitchens with photos of the birthday boy and a sprinkling of confetti on the table. A few of us went 15 minutes early to sort everything out and pop the champagne for a glass when the rest of the party arrived. We were able to take our own alcohol, as well as buying on the evening, making it easy to cater for everyone’s drinking taste. Aside from the professional and personable service, the menu was simply magnificent. Taking everything my dad likes, they created a fully personalised menu for us: a signature platter containing some of the best chorizo & sausage whirls; a haggis scotch egg with neeps & whisky cream; a beef wellington, juicy and the perfect pink; and finally a dark chocolate & salted caramel fondant with peanut butter ice cream. Each plate sent us to silence as we explored the different tastes, and we all rolled home afterwards! How they manage to cook to such high standards in that small kitchen is beyond me. If they can do this for a special occasion, just imagine how amazing their breakfasts & lunches are! This meal will go down in our family history and I can’t thank Richard & James enough for being part of it.

This weekend we had the pleasure and privilege to attend our very own private supper club at Bangers and Bacon to celebrate the venerable Papa’s 60th birthday. What a delight this was, from the planning to the actual event Richard and James could not have been more accommodating. They tailored the 4 course menu to suit Papa’s tastes and even let us decorate their dining area with photos from the last 60 years. The food was incredible. Certainly one of the best meals the 6 of us have ever eaten. So many flavours and textures and everything beautifully presented. We started with one of Bangers and Bacons signature platters consisting of delicious, delicately lime flavoured chorizo, flaky sausage whorls, cured iberico and a little dish of bacon jam for added oomph. To be honest, the platters stopped us all in our tracks; nobody spoke for a while as we were all too busy exploring what was in front of us. This wonderful starter was followed by a crispy scotch egg… with a twist. The ‘sausagemeat’ was in fact haggis and boy, was it great especially with the neeps and whisky cream. After this mighty start we needed a rest, a few more glasses of wine and another round of the birthday boy’s quiz. Next came a perfect, perfect beef Wellington. Oh my, this was the business. Perfectly cooked, crispy pastry, fondant potatoes and tender, succulent beef. What a centrepiece to our meal. I’m still not sure how we managed to find room for the dark chocolate fondant flavoured with salted caramel and topped with peanut butter ice cream, but we did. We are a determined family! What a feast! If you live in Manchester you should get yourself down to Bangers and Bacon and if you’ve got a special celebration coming up, ask Richard and James about holding a supper club. Just for you. You will not be disappointed. We can’t thank Richard and James enough for being part of another happy family memory.

TL;DR — Amazing food. Keep it coming. We found out about The Kitchens by chance — six units serving up the kind of street food you might find at Food Fight or Altrincham market. There are three units on either side with a few seats inside, but more outside in the square. We were spoilt for choice but gave Bangers and Bacon a go and were pleased we did. Sparky had an Asian meatball sub and I got a porchetta — in both cases we were blown away by how tasty these things were. On top of that, we got a big cup of tea for just £1 which is ridiculously good value these days, and the food itself was only a fiver each. We also got a side of fries which were delicious. Friendly staff, quirky setting, good value and amazing food. What’s not to love?

Slowly falling in love with The Kitchens near Spinningfields, I just think the concept is so bloody cool. You effectively have 6 or so ‘food trucks’ embedded in perfectly sized little(for lack of a better word) ‘stalls.‘ Bangers & Bacon could well be the best one. The food is top notch and what’s more impressive is none of it is just sat there waiting and slowly drying out, they cook it up to order, every time! Both times I’ve been I had the swine fries and I kid you not they were incredible — I know the picture I took isn’t fantastic however that is because I am photographically-challenged. Lovely chips piled high with Sausage, Bacon, Pulled Pork and another chunk of Meat I wasn’t able to pin point that tasted fantastic. Cover those in spicy mayo and ketchup and you really are heading up the stairs towards food heaven. The guys working there are brilliant as well and good for a little chit chat whilst they cook up your grub! If you are in need of a good quality, well affordable food, look no further.

If you haven’t heard about, or been to, Bangers and Bacon then you’re MAD. I’ve followed these guys for quite some time(sounds foodie stalkerish but I promise it’s not) — Richard and James have had many a reincarnated venture that have popped up at the sites of Friday Food Fight, Up in your Grill and MFDF as well as a host of all other foodie events and festivals. Their latest venture see’s them cooking alongside 5 other small street food businesses in a great set up called The Kitchens, down in Left Bank — Spinningfields. The name says it all, its bangers and bacon. Their menu varies from burgers with bacon, full English’s with bacon, sausage butties with bacon, chocolate brownies with bacon, bacon, BACON! They’re open from 7am for bacon butties on the way to work, all lunch times and also evenings. Look out on Twitter too, as they sometimes hold events at their ‘Chefs Table’ where you can get an excellent meal for such a reasonable price! I wish these guys all the best at The Kitchens.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat in Manchester — and we were’t disappointed by Bangers & Bacon. In the very trendy Spinningfields, the restaurant is right at home. The guys working there were the owners, you could see how passionate about the food they were. The food, by the way, was gorgeous, and not bad at about £6 for a meal. Definitely worth a visit.

I have been to been Bangers & Bacons once or twice when they have been at various street food festivals run in Manchester. They burger I have had was delicious — really juicy. Nice flavour. Now Bangers & Bacon have a regular venue alongside 5 other street food vendors in The Kitchens. I have been to The Kitchens several times now and would recommend it. I have been to Bangers & Bacon a few times on their Tacos Tuesday day. I have tried to pork ones and also the chorizo ones. Each come with salad such as rainbow slaw and nice sauce. Everyone I have had looks really tasty and tastes good too. Its £3 for 1 taco, 2 for £5.

Bangers & Bacon are loacted in ‘The Kitchens’ in Spinningfields. They serve up great food and service. The guy is very friendly and we had a bit of a chat whilst he was making my food. Around £6.50 for a burger and chips is pretty standard for Manchester but I’ve also tried there breakfast wrap which was very tasty but overpriced(£5). Try the pork scratchings — they are great!
