To be fair this place is really good. The massages are brilliant and the girls are nice. I had a membership but try and leave at your peril. They say they send you a leaving form which was never received(sent to wrong email address address apparently) they said I couldn’t leave over the phone because they need a cancellation form) what a load of rubbish it’s just a feedback form which I never needed to fill out. I would recommend taking out the membership as it’s a minimum 3 month contract which is brilliant and saves you money on a payg service. This place could do with a whirlpool etc but I don’t think it can be fitted. Would I go back? NOTONYOUR Life. But only because of the management /guest relations.

I’ve been to Bali many times but never had a treatment until last week. What an incredible place! Who’d thought such a relaxing oasis existed in the heart of the hustle/bustle noisy confines of Manchester’s Chinatown. As soon as you walk up the stairs and into the reception area you’re immediately struck by the serenity. It’s quiet and dimly lit with the melodic sound of ocean waves creating a peaceful ambiance. The receptionist is softly spoken and the place immediately takes you to a calm inner space. I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment and was partially hampered by a lingering man cold. I was running on empty but boosted by Birthday enthusiasm, nothing was gonna get in the way of my birthday treat. Bali do a range of body massage therapies including their deep tissue back/full body massage(Ouch no thanks), Swedish relaxing back massage(sounds heavenly) reflexology massage and pregnancy massage. They also do two ‘enhanced massages’ which cost more and last between 60 – 90 minutes. These include the hot stone full body massage and last but not least the one I had which was the herbal poultice full body massage. The costs range between £40(30 mins) for the standard massages to £92(90 minutes) for one of the enhanced ones. As someone who tried the latter I can safely say they are well worth the money. You might be skeptical and say it’s not worth it and that’s a lot of money for someone rubbing your back and believe me I would’ve agreed with you before it. But having experianced it I can confidently say the opposite is true. We often do things and spend a lot of money on things that neglect the needs of your body. It’s no wonder negativity and cynicism is rife. If your body isn’t in a good place it probably communicates that frustration to your mind? All these thoughts went through my head as I drifted to a place of content and peace I hadn’t experianced for a very long time. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and this particular massage as a birthday gift. The massage begins when a sensational scented herbal poultice(filled with natural herbal remedial ingredients including blue Ginger, Sweet Orange and Peppermint essential oils) is steamed and thoroughly pressed all over your body. The warm herbs seep out onto the body and are massaged in, and boy do they leave you feeling and smelling incredible. This is then followed by the BALI Signature deep tissue massage using palms, thumbs and elbows to loosen muscles and stimulate blood circulation. Thankfully the masseuse works with you on your pain threshold to avoid any discomfort. I don’t care how loved you are by family/friends/partner who have probably given you a massage here and there, NOTHING compares to a professional masseuse giving your body a once over. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Whether you’re in a stressful job or not think about the things you spend money on per month. The 90 minute Poultice massage I had, costs £92 without membership but with a membership(£50/month) you get one free every month along with other benefits of the health lounge. I’ve been won over, bowled over wahtever you wanna call it. I’m coming back for sure and I don’t care how ‘girly’ I look having coconut tea on a massage chair in the post massage relaxing lounge watching old ladies getting manicures. PS. A quick hint. If you park in the car park opposite Bali(The one next to the big Chinatown arch) you can get your ticket validated and pay a reduced amount.

Even though I am travelling quite often a long haul flights always affect me in a negative way. My skin is dull an despite applying moisturizer it gets spotty and dry. Also being crammed into economy class with little room to stretch my legs and back doesn’t help finding the energy to get back to work or relax. But after coming back from Vegas, my last 10 hour flight, I was determined to get back into balance a bit quicker with a little help from Bali Spa. Conveniently situated in the heart of the city centre, it was only a short walk in my delirious jetlag state through the streets of China Town to find this gem of a SPA. Leaving Manchester behind once you walk up the first floor, you truly feel like you are back on holiday! Yay prolonging the relaxation and easing the jet lag. The luxurious interior of Bali spreads over three floor and is about the most beautiful seeting I have seen in any location in Manchester so far. Its surprisingly quiet and airy, given the busy location. You are instantly welcomed by the friendly staff and find yourself lounging on the comfy sofa, sipping a glass of Aloe Juice or tea. After your treatment you are also welcome to stay and are not ushered out for the next appointment waiting. Their treatments range from various types of massages, manicures and pedicures to facial treatments using PAYOT products. I was booked in for a full Indian head and neck massage, of 60 minutes and welcomed by Anna, who explained the whole procedure in detail. She also made sure I was not allergic to any of the ingredients used on my skin. I can be quite sensitive to anything scented so I decided to stay away from lavender or tea tree old. She was also very gentle and professional in her approach, all her movements were executed as a choreography, knowing exactly where to apply pressure. To be honest I am fairly hesitant to trust someone to give me a massage as I know how much damage can be done with the wrong technique, but felt in absolutely safe hands here.

This was the worst pedicure that I have ever had, along with being the most expensive! I was shocked when it was over, because my nails had not been trimmed and my feet had not been massaged. On top of that, the selection of nail polish was minimal.

A place to relax and unwind! A hidden gem in the heart of china town Manchester. Having tried a few spas in manchester I can happily say this is my favourite! I have tried both the signiture body massage and payot exfoliation. My therapist was Hiroku, lovely lady ! She was informative throughout the session she even gave me tips to carry on with my session at home.

I remember the heady days of the 90’s, when nary a word spoken about UV rays, sunscreen, melanoma, the depleting ozone layer, etc. My friends and I would spend considerable hours baking in the sun in summer, and laying on tanning beds in winter to maintain a nice, golden tan all year long. Alas, the bubble burst about 7 years ago, when a dermatologist warned me that the large, freckle-like spots on my face, arms and legs were a precursor to more serious skin issues. In fact, several bumps were surgically removed and I was told in no uncertain terms that I was to stay out of the sun, or slather myself in factor 50 if I was to leave the house. I followed the doctor’s sage advice, although as summer rolled around each year I dreaded the choices that lay ahead of me. I could a) do nothing and blind innocent bystanders with the reflection off my insanely white skin b) get strange, uneven skin colour and stained palms from self-tanning creams or c) rock the orange glow that is often associated with spray tans. More often than not, I went with option one. That is, until a recent promotional event at Bali Health Lounge. Fellow media folk were invited to partake in a number of different treatments, one of them being a Xen-Tan spray tan which several of the guests opted for. I was surprised at how natural looking the tan was, and how the colour complimented the natural skin tone of each person. I booked myself in for a treatment with high hopes. If you haven’t had a spray tan before, you can expect to strip down to your birthday suit and slip into a disposable thong and foot pads(provided by Bali). Stepping into a sort of pop-up tent, you are carefully sprayed with the tanning gun. Xen-Tan has a surprisingly pleasant aroma, although when being applied to the face and neck, you are advised to hold your breath for a few seconds. You are then given a quick once-over with a cool air dryer to dry your skin. As with other spray tans, the skin is still a bit tacky and it is highly advised you were loose clothing and flip flops as there will be residue left on the skin that can stain clothes. This is from the ‘marker’ or the additive put into the liquid so the tanning technician can clearly see that all body areas are covered evenly. If you are planning to get a Xen-Tan, make sure you don’t have any plans afterwards so you can go home and let your new glam tan sink in. I was thrilled with my new healthy looking tan, and hubs even commented on how good it looked(I think there was even a twinge of jealously in his tone) and said it made me look younger. WHOOP! It’s been 6 days since the treatment, so the tan on my upper body is starting to fade. My legs are mostly back to their natural shade of Casper the Ghost, largely due to being a knucklehead and applying a lotion with oil in it to give them a shimmer(I was told specifically to use water-based creams if I was to use anything). So if you are like me and can’t risk exposure to the sun, an excellent alternative to unsightly alabaster skin or orange palms from tanning creams is Xen-Tan from Bali Health Lounge. You can thank me later.

Exhausted, Stressed, In need of detox or Just feel like getting pampered? You are reading the right review then m’dear. When I entered Bali Health Lounge, I felt like I was slowly getting transported to the posh spa of a 5 star hotel. Even though it is located amidst the hustle bustle of China Town, it has an exact opposite environment inside. The manager and staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I was offered a glass of cider as soon as I entered and then escorted upstairs where they have these amazing massage chairs. I sat on one of them while sipping my cider and looking at the menu. Btw the massage chairs are not just kept in a lobby area or something, they have special, fancy booths with curtains for each chair(you literally feel like royalty while sitting on those chairs). I was in love with the Swedish massage option because it just gave me the best back rub of my life(could fall asleep there). I also got my nails done with special shellack paint, it has been a week and my nails still look fabulous. The woman doing my nails(Jo) was chatty and sweet, we had a long conversation about food and growing our own herbs(always impresses me when someone talks about food: D). If you are visiting the place after reading my review do give her a tight hug from my behalf! Verdict: I can’t wait to go back again on Saturday for a facial! Woohoo

Im a self proclaimed spa addict and have tried the treatment in most spas in Manchester. I found a really great bargain in Groupon and have booked myself for a relaxing spa afternoon. I started wtih the their afternoon tea treat and then my treatments soon after. Their rooms are amazing. IT feels im transported someplace else and not in the middle of Chinatown where its located. The ceilings has an amazing starry sky design. I want to have it in my own bedroom. The massage was satisfying. I had massage from other places before but my muscle never felt as good. They also carry great products in their spa. I also have tried the Ichair with the foot massage. I want to own one if I had a space in my apartment. This spa is worth the money. The only reason why I didnt give them the 5 stars is because they do not have the wet areas yet such as jacuzzi and steam. Other than that its perfect. :)

£25 for 20 minute massage and 20 minute foot therapy on a magic massage i-chair. BARGAIN of the century! I found this deal on their website so booked a little treat for Adam’s birthday day in Manchester. This place is absolutely fantastic! Beautifully laid out over three floors with private rooms and areas for use of the i-chairs and relaxation. Upon arrival we were issued with slippers to wander around in then taken up to the therapy rooms where I experienced one of the best back massages of my life(not that I have had many). Zoe(my therapist) asked how I would like my massage, and being used to having physio and being beaten back into shape I asked for quite a strong massage — and oh it was. It was very very strong and released all my knots and tension without hurting but still very very relaxing. Then off to the magic chairs where you have control over what you want them to do while the therapist soaked and rubbed our feet. A very lovely treat and a great way(and cheap way) to experience spas if you haven’t before. I would recommend Zoe as a therapist!
