Axon’s in my opinion, is the best butcher’s in Manchester! My husband and I have always bought meat from Axon’s for as long as we lived in Didsbury and Withington. Frank, the owner/manager is a lovely guy, very friendly, will go the extra mile for his regular customers and all his staff are friendly, chatty, professional and knowledgeable. We loved his cuts of steak, beef, chicken, pork, sausages(I particularly loved the jalepeno pepper sausages) and Frank does a great deal on burgers during the BBQ season. They really do look after their customers, whether new or regular. Great butcher’s all round!

We shop there every week — superb. An expat pal of mine out in Estonia hankers for«proper British sausages» and these guys vacuum seal them for him so they are fine in the airline hold luggage. The shop is full of their awards for the sausages. No abattoir sweepings up in those babies! Axons is like meat should be.

Axons is a safe bet for a good cut of meat. The staff are always friendly and happy to offer advice. I find that it’s great for steak and sausages in particular(the cracked black pepper sausages are my particular favourite), and it’s brilliant for barbeques as they make tasty koftas and ribs so you can get good quality food and you can be lazy at the same time!

Sausages! it’s worth leaving your regular bangers off your weekly food shop just to head down to Axons for a selection of their award winning sausages. The butchers are always polite and helpful and most importantly, approachable for suggestions and cooking tips.

Axons is my favourite butcher in the world. I cannot count amount of times I’ve loaded up on ingredients for the«Ultimate Didsbury Full English» and received a hero’s reception on frying them up after a houseparty. Actually I can count that, it’s 3. But, my point is, although everything in Axons is excellent, the sausages are what steal the show. With everything from pork with black pepper, to Italian Mozzarella, and all made in the back of the shop, you’re not short of choice. The guys from Axons also triumphed in the British Sausage Awards and romped home in a few categories. So what are you waiting for?!
