This place does the best steak I have ever tried. The Oak is always busy so best to pre-book and the food is reasonably priced. Myself and my partner have never left disappointed! The Bannoffee pie is to die for

Excellent lunch for the five of us. We sat in the garden for a leisurely meal. We will be back,

Woohoo! I love Oak on the Green. I have come for dinner during the holiday season twice now and both times it was tasty. The atmosphere is amazing — very dim candle light with dried hops covering the ceiling. really cool. It gives off a romantic, intimate vibe. It is always SO busy in here. We came in with our party of 6 on the Thursday after New Years and thankfully we made a reservation because it was slammed. They do set menus for Christmas and New Years + a «Party Menu» for groups of 8 or more. They were nice enough to let us eat off the set menu with a party of 6 so just ask if you’re interested! In the end we decided the set menu wasn’t for us(multiple people wanted some lamb action!) but they were really patient with us as we went back and forth. I had a steak with chips(aka fries), mushroom and tomato — it was delicious and cooked perfectly! My crispy brie bite starter was also melty ooey goodness… honestly I am getting hungry thinking about it! Two people in our party shared the mussels as a starter and WOW was that a big bucket of mussels! As you all know — I am not a seafood junkie by any means but the broth in that… jebus, I could have had a glass to drink. The one minor disappointment was the stuffed portabello mushroom with stilton. I guess it was as promised but there was just a bit too much stilton(that stuff is strong man!). At least everyone that ordered lamb devoured it and there were no regrets about deviating from the set menu. Overall, it was another wonderful evening at the Oak on the Green. I am guessing I will see you next year ;)

Good food but let down by a static menu that has barely changed in the last five years. Can also be very busy inside and not much space.

This delightful pub probably does the best gastro food in the Maidstone area. The portions are always generous, while at the same time excellent value for money. I have visited the Oak on a variety of different social occasions and it never fails to deliver. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and the service is second to none. I espeicially love this place in the summer, when you can relax in the beer garden watching the cricket on Bearsted Green.

This really has to be my favourite place to eat. I was introduced to it by a friend who took me there for lunch and I was astounded by the quality and quantity of food for a pub. I decided to take my husband and daughter there for dinner on his birthday and it couldn’t have been better. The choice of food is amazing from traditional English fare to moules marinieres and fajitas and served beautifully. I am so glad we didn’t have a starter because we were so overwhelmed by the size of the dinner, we would have been hard pushed to get through even half of it. However, I did see the starters and I think if I were to have one it would be starter and dessert! The desserts are wonderful … to die for as they say. The staff are really pleasant and welcoming and the ambience of the place is typical country pub — dried hops hanging from the ceilings and in the evenings, candlelit tables. I’m surprised it hasn’t been reviewed on here yet — trying to get a table here on the day you want to eat is very difficult unless you like eating at 9.30pm! I can’t recommend it highly enough for either pub lunches or their restaurant for dinner. The wine list is also very good. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out, give it a go!
