Under the Greenwood Tree

I visited with my wife for lunch on Sunday 13^th January, it was the first café we came to after parking up in Lyndhurst and maybe we should have taken a wander first and compared other cafes, pubs and restaurants as there is so much choice. I had a sausage and onion baguette, my wife had coronation chicken baguette, we each had a side of chips (my pet hate chips were served in a pretentious little metal bucket but that’s not a dig at the café everyone seems to have jumped on this bandwagon). Add a drink each and it came to just over £20, maybe everywhere in Lyndhurst charges these prices but to be honest I regularly eat better sausage rolls in greasy spoons at a fraction of the cost these sausages tasted like they had been cooked a few hours earlier, likewise the temperature suggested they hadn’t just been prepared. However to be fair I should point out that my wife however really enjoyed her chicken baguette, the staff were friendly and attentive, our drinks were very nice, and although it was busy it was very comfortable.
