hare and hounds

We went here on Sunday 13^th March 2011. We found it by chance as it was on Google as «dog friendly». We found about 6 other dogs in the bar and the car parked was packed. We had a ploughmans, and tuna sandwiches and we were very pleased with the speed of service and what we got — doorstep sandwiches with fresh bread, massive fresh salad (NO brown bits of lettuce) and chips at a good price.
Other pubs could learn from this one, by excluding dog owners you are missing out on huge revenue. Dogs are a family member too!

This pub always seems busy but I have never had good service or good food. Plates are piled high with below average pub food. The staff don’t rush to serve you. Pluses are a good location if you want to stop during a walk in the New Forest for a drink and food, and there is a garden to sit outside in the summer. If you happen to be on horseback you can tether the horse outside. It is a large pub with a long bar and a separate dining room to one side. Approximately a mile from the local Sway railway station.
