I have had some fairly good pub meals here. They are very reasonably priced and suitable for a lunch. For finer dining their upstairs restaurant provides a good quality three course meal with some tasty fish dishes. The hotel is in the centre of town and offers hotel rooms which are a little expensive but there is a swimming pool. The bars are comfortable and warm and nice to be in. It is an old hotel with antiques on show in the foyer. It can be noisy depending on which room you have. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

This review is based on the food served in the pub underneath the hotel. I can’t really comment on the standard of the hotel but could only find his place on the hotel category, when in fact it’s also a pub.
It looks like a perfectly decent place for a drink but in terms of the food I can only say disappointing! The menu looked promising and it was packed out, with many eating. Fish & chips should be easy for a place like this so close to the harbour, but ours looked like it had come straight out the freezer. In fact, I doubt whether any of the produce on our plates was local. The chips were bland, McCain-​like creations. On the plus side, the service was fine, and ale was good.
