I love this shop. This shop typifies what I see is the best about independent, family run shops. The range of weird and wonderful foods on offer suits a whole myriad of tastes. Pickled chili peppers, american sweets, continental meats, organic bread, fantastic sausage rolls and croissant, and a selection of wines, spirits and beers that is quite frankly second to none in the region. I saw the other review says the prices are a little high but I would dispute that. I often find items in here that are cheaper than in the supermarkets and most things compare with the prices of shops like spar. However there are things in here that you won’t find anywhere else in the region; without going to a big city or using the internet, so prices are rather insignificant. I remember once taking all the stock of a particular favourite beer of mine because it was 10p a bottle cheaper than in the supermarkets in Grimsby(when they had it). The range of wines available is out of this world. If you’re searching for something a little different if they haven’t got it they will try to get it. The staff are lovely, often giving discounts on large orders when paying with cash, and go out of their way to assist you and make you feel welcome. So I’ll end where I started, I love this shop!

Every small town needs a shop like McLeods. It’s an off-licence and deli, selling all sorts of obscure things like garlic anchovies in olive oil and organic walnut bread — not typical market-town fare in this neck of the woods. It also has a rather nice range of local ice-cream and some yummy designer beers! The range of produce on offer means that McLeods is usually packed with customers, despite rather high prices. It’s a handy shop to have at the end of our road(for that is where it is situated!) as it also stocks essentials such as pints of milk and loaves of fresh bread. It’s slightly out of the way, tucked in the shadow of St James’ Church, but well worth a visit.
