Really enjoy this place when I’m in Loughborough. The kangaroo burger is worth trying and the prices are reasonable. The staff are all very friendly and do their upmost to make your experience a pleasant one. Would recommend to anyone in Loughborough.

Nice place, decent service, alright food. I ordered some kangaroo meat, but it didn’t taste very fresh, I believe it would taste better in Australia. Overall it’s pretty good, £30 for 3 course meals plus drinks and extra salad, as well as 10% tip is a very good price

Loughborough seems like a desolate sort of place with its fair share of pound shops and charity shops and«southern» fried chicken bars so after a quick look through the Unilocal!top recommendations I settled upon Moomba and I was not disappointed. Service was fast and friendly and the food, which arrived promptly was tasty BBQ fayre. I had chicken wings to start and a whole grilled trout and it was solid good value, well cooked, presented ok and tasty, in an uncomplicated, straightforwards, Aussie sort of way. Dessert was a tasty passion fruit and mango mess. Once again, not unique but excellently delivered with a «thorough» portion size. If you come to Loughborough, Moomba is a wonderful beacon of hope and tastiness in a hopeless desert that robs you of the will to live. Go no where else.(And it isn’t too pricy either)

Unilocal, it’s been some time. I feel ashamed and slightly dirty, like an unfaithful husband of 20 years recently returned home, head bowed and tail between legs, after trying to relive past glories with a 20-something blonde and a Porsche. I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry. Please forgive me darling. I love you etc etc etc. Anyyyyway, the fact of the matter is that I’m back, Eminem style. Today’s episodic ranting is directed squarely at Moomba’s in Loughborough. Or it would be if I could remember much about it or had anything major to dislike aside from astronomical prices. To save your time I’ll sum it up here — it’s good, just expensive. If you make it to the end of this review you have more staying power than most of my girlfriends. Moomba(with or without the apostrophe? I’ve no idea — I’m sticking with the latter, mainly out of pure laziness) sells itself on the premise of all things Australian. This means kangaroo burgers, BBQs and probably an edible version of Neighbours. I half expected Paul Hogan to jump out at me, wrestle a crocodile and then go surfing down the stairs with his swingy cork hat on. As I’ve said before, I can’t remember much about it apart from lots of wood and the colour green. And it had an upstairs bit. The menu was a typical late-20s-friends-out-for-dinner affair, all share platters, chicken wings and antipastis. It’s the type of place those bellends from the Doritos adverts would go to, if they weren’t so hollow and false and all melted into smiley smiley plastic by now. The ubiquitous burger was there, and obviously because we were in an Australian restaurant we had to have kangaroo too. The menu did however seem a bit confused, in no small part down to the large variety of Italian food on offer. A shared platter between three was nice, just not enough(probably because it’s made for two) and a kangaroo burger was decent, just not really worth the fuss or the expense. I feel like I’m being unnecessarily harsh however; I liked it, and my friends did too. The only drawback? The price. For a shared platter between 3, a burger and two soft drinks it cost me roughly £20. Not a lot, I agree, but before you start calling me a tight arse I think that paying close to £10 for a burger in Loughborough is near extortion. I’m fully aware that for a ‘proper’ restaurant or somewhere in London, £20 per head is excellent — however Moomba is neither and isn’t pretending to be anything else. Admirable, in a way. In all, a nice restaurant; good food, good atmosphere(from what I can remember) and friendly staff, just expensive for what it is and what it’s trying to be.

I’ve passed this place many times but never been inside it up until two days ago. The interior is a cross between a pub and a casual restaurant — just the right mix for a laid back meal! Staff were polite and attentive and the place seemed clean. The food was good(if not expensive in places) a lot of meat on the menu too. The specials are well worth a look as they are often a little cheaper. We shared a platter for a starter which was a bit sparse but tasty. Starter, Main Course and 3 drinks each came just short of £45. would recommend it

Sister to Cactus Café this restaurant is bit more upmarket and with Australian food you are probably less likely to have tried before. Very nicely cooked with a good variety of food you will and may not know plus some excellent wine on the menu.

Moomba is the sister restaurant to Cactus Café and they offer a different but appealling range of food. Being an Austrailian restaurant it is difficult to know what to expect. Generally there is a lot of meat on the menu, mixed grills, kangaroo sausages etc. There are a few suprises on the menu, and I can confirm although ostritch sounds like a gimick it is actually quite tasty. One of my favourites here are the slow baked jacket potatoes that literally just melt in your mouth. I highly recommend the Moomba restaurant for a meal and don’t forget to get a Tooheys aussie lager to wash it all down with perfect!

Moomba is quite the odd restaurant, i went here fro somebodys birthday and i didnt know what to expect from an australian restaurant. When you go in the restaurant you find its very big, very spacious, with an upstairs, heck i was wondering why they had so few tables, they would seriously lose business if they were busy. Generally however its never too busy. Now with the food, i went for a Roo Burger, and yes that is what you think it is, a Kangaroo burger and you know what, it was fairly nice. The portion was well sized. The starters were good but as for the deserts nothing really caught my eye. The service was great and the price was reasonable. On the whole i would definatly recomend this place to others.

Situated on the A6 and right next to The Rushes car park, Moomba is an Australian themed café/bar/restaurant. Unfortunately, thanks to the likes of Walkabout, that probably conjures up all sorts of images — luckily Moomba is not like that at all! Unique and unpretenious, the decors nice, as is the food. Try the Kangaroo Burger!
