Large, decent St Austell pub. I preferred hanging out in the slightly raised area to the right as you go on, but there are a lot of places to sit, including a room partially cut off from the main bar which was sort of nice. HSD(in good nick), Trelawny and Tribute were my choices. I snacked too, on a very tasty mushroom melt. There were some nice pictures of boats but at the same time some massive adverts for upcoming sport!

Traditional, unreformed pub food. Fun and tolerant family atmosphere but the food just did not rise to the occasion. But then, perhaps the fault of those in our party whom ventured beyond the traditional pub fare. Best for an ale and a light snack rather than dinner.

We stayed here recently and found that the(vegetarian) food at the pub was really mediocre. Staff were friendly enough, but weren’t flexible — for example, they wouldn’t watch our bags for even a few minutes when we checked out, and parking is rather far away in Looe so I couldn’t go and bring the car closer. They wouldn’t let us eat food from another place anywhere in the bar area, well after they had stopped serving food for the evening. They had high chairs at the bar, but said it wasn’t possible to have one at breakfast. The room was spacious and clean, but the beds were barely made up one day(they were fine the next day). Various little things didn’t work: the toilet seat was a bit stuck, and one window didn’t close, and the table was broken(but this was quicky replaced). I suppose it was good value in Cornwall in the summer, and the rooms are behind a locked door and the baby monitor works in the pub, so that was nice.

Very friendly! Food was a little slow for our large party, but it seemed freshly cooked with good ingrediants, and hot, so worth the wait! My wife has allergies and the staff were very helpful with finding and modifying a meal for her. Recommended.

I stayed in Looe for a few nights and this is one of the pubs that I visited. Well worth a visit, nice place and friendly too. Update Aug 2012 popped in again. Not my favourite pub in Looe but will still use it.

This is a super family pub situated in the heart of Looe, they provide very tasty and reasonably priced meals during the day and up to 9 in the evening. The staff are very friendly and always on hand to tend to individual needs. Upstairs they also have several b&b rooms which are kept clean and tidy, The pub is very large with a separate family room, pool table, a separate wooden area which is raised and aptly called the poop deck where you can see all the goings on out in the street. They show many live football games on their widescreen and have lots of entertainment in the evenings, including discos, karaōke and live bands. This is a huge favourite of locals and visitors alike and I couldn’t imagine not going there on my many nights out.
