Is the food cheap? No. Is the food delicious? No. Do they give you a lot of portions? No. Yo! Sushi is definitely one of the most overrated so-called Asian chain in the UK. And this restaurant is even worse than the others.

Ridiculously priced, tacky ambience, rushed staff and horrible food! This place screams low quality, maybe if prices were abit more reasonable(2.70£) for two pieces of sushi I wouldn’t feel so ripped off.

I’ve been eating at Yo! Sushi since I came to London. At first I thought it was gimmicky — sushi on a conveyor belt can’t be that good, right? I actually don’t eat fish and have a difficult time finding items at Japanese restaurants because of this. However, they have a number of vegetarian items(yakisoba, firecracker rice) and the pumpkin korroke(basically, deep fried pumpkin drizzled in soy glaze) are to die for. The décor always reminds me of the scene in «Serenity» where River Tam sees the TV screen, whispers«Miranda…» and then goes crazy on everyone, which is a trip when I’m just taking a quick lunch. Also, they have a variety of deals like Blue Mondays, Blue January, and 25% off for students, which makes it a pretty good deal. I much prefer Yo! to other more posh sushi establishments — easy to get a seat and never too long a wait.

Conveyer belt sushi is never going to be great, so I knew what to expect re: food quality and got it. However, when you hand someone a glass and put a water tap(tap!) directly in front of them, it’s a bit rich of you to charge them for water. There’s no signage indicating that filling your glass of water from the tap will cost you 1.10, and that just strikes me as shady. I don’t intend to return.

Jeez, what a disappointment. The often talked about chain is gimmicky and overpriced. The staff are excuse a massive ‘meh’ about what they’re doing, and the food shows it. Ordered a spicy ramen– never have I had anything so disgusting labelled ‘ramen’- served in a tiny bowl and with four whole chillies sitting taking up to majority of it– combined with the way the Chef peering at us in a surly manner suggested he was not happy with his life and wanted me I know it…

Perfect for quick, yummy, satisfying, food-court-style sushi. If you are a sushi snob, don’t even walk in :). I think this is one of the better locations, I also like the one in Paddington.

Puuhhhhh, this is not what I signed up for. After the first dish I left and went to a decent place. The whole«atmosphere» of course is more like in the food court in a mall. Quick snack ok, meal — No

First off, the sushi is not good, nor is anything else on the conveyor belt/menu. Secondly, although the staff are incredibly nice I had to ring a buzzer, yes an fing BUZZER they have put on each table, multiple times to remind them to either refill miso or bring out a plate I had ordered a while ago. The student discount is nice, but why do I have to text a damn number to get it?! Dim the lights, lower the prices or get some better rolls! Also, have the staff make the rounds a bit more often and you’d have a great sushi joint in a great location.

Feel like being completely ripped off? Enjoy being ignored and snubbed by young British girls working behind a «sushi counter»? Crave poor selection, quality and quantities of England’s poor attempt at Japanese cuisine? Then come empty your wallet at Yo! Sushi! Not only will your lowest expectations be met, the will be made even lower for the next time! Have a coupon, you say? Fear not, you can still easily dish out £25 after your discount per person for the soulless, mass-produced gruel!

Ah, sushi. Who doesn’t do sushi nowadays. It’s healthy, light and when made by people with even a faintly glimmering passion for fresh ingredients it’s taste is exquisite. I’ve eaten at a number of Yo Sushi restaurants, the staff are usually chirpy and attentive, and this was the case with the brunswick branch of yo sushi, to a point. I noticed lots of dishes whizzing past me on the belt that were so obviously past their best I considered leaving before I’d started. Undeterred and hungry I picked off a few dishes that looked safe, as I did the second drinks glass of the night was smashed by a waitress. That should have been a sign of things to come. What an expensive dissapointment. Is it me, or is the Yo Sushi brand becoming diluted to the point of being a fast food joint? I can’t remember it being this bad in the Leeds branch. Well, I guess I’ll never know if the apparent dilution of Yo Sushi standards continues towards the abyss, as I’m not going back for more.

Um… no. Maybe it’s because I’ve been spoiled with all the nice sushi restaurants in LA, but this place was truly awful. The sushi was not fresh at all and you don’t even have to be a sushi connoisseur to notice that the sushi had been sitting on the conveyor belt for a long time. When you walk into a sushi restaurant and it smells like fish, that’s a bad sign indicating that there’s spoiled raw fish revolving around the restaurant. The décor of the restaurant is somewhat futuristic and it’s cute so it attracts you into the restaurant, but it’s not enough to overlook the bad quality of food they serve here. Avoid!

This place is awful. I am a big fan of conveyor belt sushi bars, but this place gives the concept a bad reputation. The food tasted and smelled as if it was out for too long, and the prices were outrageous for the small dishes being served. The décor is definitely cool and modern, and the location is in a great spot in Russel Square, but I would not return. I will stick with my Fat Fish sushi in Los Angeles…

Yo! Sushi is a very unique place. The seating area is set up like a sushi bar, but rather than having a server come to your seat, there is a conveyor belt that delivers the food to you. The concept of the conveyor belt makes for a modern, contemporary feel. If I am not mistaken, this style of serving food at sushi bars is becoming increasingly popular, and has already made its mark in Japan. I was a little bit apprehensive about coming here because I was unsure about exactly how long the food had been sitting on the belt. But the food was actually not bad. In addition to sushi, which I thought was lacking, there is tempura(pretty good), stir-fry(O.K.), and even desserts(which I did not have a chance to try). Although the quality of the food exceeded my standards for Yo! Sushi, I was overwhelmed at the price. Each dish you pick up on the conveyor belt is color-coded according to the price. This is an a-la-carte restaurant, so it is quite expensive for what you get. Overall, this is a fun place with above-average, overpriced food. It is definitely an experience, but I don’t suggest that you go here regularly.

This place is great fun. The concept is brilliant and you can get as unlimited miso and green tea for 1.75. Cheap enough and filling.

Being from up North, good sushi is hard to find, hence when I do find it it is more often than not down South in that there London. It is not cheap — I spent 60 for two of us including sake. But I was a very, very happy bunny. Obviously fresh, obviously trendy = expensive. But I only get down there once every few years so I recommend it

Trust me, I love sushi. And I have to say that my expectations were not high for Yo! I mean, it’s on a conveyor belt, so who knows how long it’s been sitting there. Sure they have a quirky setting. The wasabi and ginger are sitting in the little cups in the table… but I just wasn’t impressed. I especially wasn’t impressed when my bf and I weren’t even half full and our bill was over 30 pounds. Thanks Yo! I think the sushi is more fresh at Hare & Tortoise right around the corner, and cheaper too.

I’m a big sushi fan! Especially if there is a conveyor belt. The Brunswick Centre in heart of Russell is a big attraction to many nearby residents and college going students. Within the centre YO! Sushi has its reasonably well spread out restaurant. Done in the trademark brand style, I love spending time here. Its such a cool place to enjoy sushi and then either carry on with your shopping spree or move on to more important matters.

I’ve eaten at this location a few times and wasn’t disappointed, but each time was off-peak so the food and service was quite good(maybe Urbanite) was there when they were full and very busy?). The staff were friendly and more than happy to make the menu items on request. Everything was fresh, the restaurant and toilets very clean and I was pleased with this branch(I usually eat at the Selfridges or Victoria Station branches). It’s convenient if you want to do a bit of shopping and very easy to get to via the Russell Square Tube station. As usual, the food was affordable and it’s fun to watch the conveyor belt.
