Value for price is quite low. Pizza was small, order of dishes was strange(desert before pizza).

I wasn’t expecting much from this place. I left feeling underwhelmed. That pretty much sums upthis place up. Nice enough stone baked pizza(strangely enough these were oval shaped) and their bruschetta stater was mostly topped with onions(where were the tomatoes?!) so yeah… Everything was just about okay. Lunch was £15 for 2 courses, pretty standard pricing, but there are definitely better places to eat nearby!

After seeing a fantastic show at the Courtyard theatre(King Lear with sheep! Actual, real sheep!) We wanted to grab a bite to eat and the Yard looked great. This remodelled old fire station has so much charm and character! The staff was very slow, but it’s well worth the wait. The pizzas are fresh and delicious, perfectly cooked, fresh ingredients and balanced flavours. They even got the egg on my pizza right with a soft yolk! We enjoyed our time at the Yard very much.

Been here a couple of times for lunch and the food has always been nice. I have had both pizza and pasta, which both were tasty, though the pizza didn’t have enough toppings so was a bit too much crust. It’s pretty expensive though, so not a regular lunch destination.

The Yard is in a great location, thick in the heart of Hoxton. It’s a great place for big groups of people, as not many other places in the area take big bookings. They do require a deposit though. Pizzas are their speciality, with sizes starting from ¼ Yard, all the way up to a full Yard. It’s quite fun to share a yard, as you can get up to four flavours on one yard. Overall though, their pizza isn’t life changing and their flavour combinations are quite standard. They are tasty and you get what you expect. I also sampled their lasagne while there and also, it was exactly what I imagined, but not life changing. The service was great, waiter was courteous. I’d recommend this place for a casual meal if you are in the area, or a get together with friends but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

I’d like to give zero stars. Painfully slow service. Had to remind them to cook our so-so pizzas. I am trying to find a redeeming feature like the décor(Victorian bathroom tiles) or even the quality of the air-conditioning(off on a really hot day) and managed to conclude that the pizza was the right temperature upon eventual arrival.

Decent pizza, but a little pricey. It’s got a nice vibe to it though, and the décor is full of character being in a converted fire station. One of the better places to eat in the area and definitely worth visiting Yard over Pizza East up the road any day!

Leckere, authentische Pizza, frisch, guter Boden und Zutaten. Nette Bedienung. Oldschool loftige Atmosphäre, etwas hellhörig, aber dennoch gemütlich. Sehr beschränkte Weinkarte. Einen Besuch wert.

Great pizza, pasta and service. We appreciated the patio. We had a great experience and will be back on our next trip

Good thin crust pizza where you can order by the ¼ yard per person. We opted for a ½ yard with half chicken and half spicy pepperoni. The pizza came out quickly and barely fit on our small table. Slices are not pre-cut and they provide a pizza cutter. Just the right amount of toppings with an okay crust. Nice atmosphere and a great place for a casual dinner or a get together with friends.

I have ti say I loved the food here. It was quiet when I got in so maybe the food was better than it normally is as I had a beautiful meal but then read the reviews after here on Qype and it sounded like a different restarant. I can’t complain about the service or the food in any way.

We came on Boxing Day and we didn’t have the Taste London card so there are two important factors to my review: 1) we weren’t paying £5 for a pizza and 2) the staff really didn’t want to work on a Bank Holiday. I’ve never been here before, even though I live a few minutes away; I’d always heard it was pretty bad. We were looking for somewhere to eat on Boxing Day night, noticed it was open, so thought we’d give it a go. The décor is pretty cool but that’s where it stops. The staff were so miserable and inattentive. Tables were uncleared the entire time we were there. They managed to get numerous orders wrong, not just ours, and the food tasted like it was out of a microwave. This is difficult to do when you have a beautiful wood fired oven, right? I would come back, if I had a taste London card, if they replaced the chef, if the staff cheered up and if it was the only place open in the area. Otherwise, it’s a no from me.

Good food and great for takeaway or big groups! Not the most traditional, or best, Italian pizza, but definitely a great take on the original! I loved their pasta al tonno — tunna, penne, chili oil and cherry tomatoes! Go here if you want something easy and relaxed with nice service and inexpensive food.

I went to The Yard today with my boyfriend and we had a mildly enjoyable experience. The décor, and therefore atmosphere, was very cool, sort of edgy, with brick and dimmer lighting. I was surprised when I went that there was maybe only 1 other table of people, as it was around lunch time on a Saturday afternoon. There’s a decent variety of choices for pizza, and there’s also good pasta choices. There’s a few good promotions they have going on(e.g. kids eat free on weekends), but in general I found the prices to be a bit steep. While the margherita slice was £6.25 which is quite reasonable, most of the other pizzas are about £9. As I’ve only been to Pizza Express once I couldn’t say how the prices compare. The pizza itself was nothing special. I chose a margherita and my boyfriend had the Spicy Beef. He very much enjoyed his pizza, said how good it was. I didn’t find it to be incredibly great. The pizza is decent, but for the price it isn’t in any way impressive.

Delicious food, if authentic or not doesn’t really matter — it is exactly what you are expecting in this area in this price range. The goat cheese salad and the Gorgonzola & spinach penne are recommended. Haven’t tried the pizza yet. The wine per glass is a little bit overpriced, hot drinks are cheaper than usual. The service is very friendly. Sitting outside, you can watch the buzz of the area.

When I walked into the building, I thought I was in for a real treat. I was warned that the food in London wasn’t up to par with the U.S. but I thought«how could they go wrong with Italian food?» And to my dismay, what people say about food in London was true. We ordered an all meat pizza that tasted like an actual cardboard pizza box. With that said, the restaurant looked great, the staff were kind and attentive but the food, the food was horrible.

Loved the atmosphere with the brick & dim lighting. We were sat quickly and with a smile(mind you it was 9:15 so there was some space). Food was good overall and service was fine. I liked how the pizza wasn’t overly greasy and didn’t leave me feeling stuffed. Not sure if I’d go back though… There are too many other better pizza places nearby(pizza east and story deli to name a couple) –Carmelized onion cheese bread — YUM! –Chicken & Mango pizza — tasty but a little bland, needed salt and more garlic, too much rosemary, red peppers were super spicy which I loved –Carne pizza — delicious, lots of different meats and all were yummy –House red wine(montelpuciano) — generous pour and good tase for the price

«I’m starving» «So am I» «Let’s go eat» Is normally how my conversations go =P I had never been here before, and to be honest I never really wanted pizza but it was the only restaurant within 10 steps of walking distance. We walked in and go seated straight away(There were 3 of us) we had a table next to a heater which was nice as it was quite cold. We looked at the menu and decided to go for a yard long, there wasn’t that much choice for toppings but we managed to somehow choose. For starters we got a potato salad and a rocket salad. OMG the potato salad is amazing! it is the best potato salad I have ever had. It is worth coming here just for the potato salad lol. On the other hand, the pizza wasn’t fantastic, pretty average and quite expensive for an average pizza. Having just read Vicki’s review, I am also upset that I did not use my tastelondon card :( This isn’t a bad place, it does get busy and the décor inside is quite plain but trendy. There are nice places in the area which you would probably prefer to go to, but if you are craving potato salad COMEHERE! :P

Went here for dinner with friends(party of 15, 2 taste london cards = 50% off food) Using the discount made this venue a really great place for what we wanted. Pitchers of beer and pizzas were all we needed. Our end of the table got the yard(4 quarters: mango/chicken, duck, goat’ cheese, mushroom) and a pasta arrabiata to share. Food was very good, the venue very good too.

Having visited The Yard in Richmond, I was expecting this branch near Old Street to be similar. To have warmth and great atmosphere, but it was disappointing. It wasn’t busy, but the service was slow and seemed like we weren’t valued customers. I’m guessing the constant voucher offers from Pizza Express and Strada(both within 10 mins walking distance) are taking the toll on this place. The building itself is bare and decorated quite industrial-like with bare light bulbs and stripped walls. The concept for The Yard is to serve a length of Pizza with the different, unusual, toppings, per yard, but for 2 people this is not the case, just one regular pizza per person. I was also dubious about the hygiene of serving on wooden boards. It’s probably best to come here in a large group, but not for the atmosphere or top notch food.
