Some pubs specialise in real ale and quiet conversation. Others food and wines. Still others could be considered football and sports pubs. The Worlds’ End is one of the latter. With seven(yes, I counted) large, flat screen TVs spread all the way through the pub, playing either the game of the day(Chelsea is a favoured club) or twittering away in the background with Sky Sports News, there is no escaping it(except outside on the smoking patio). There are few real ales — lager is the drink of choice here. There is a large outside patio and there is also some children’s play equipment(children are not welcome indoors). They do Sunday roasts — and very cheaply for the area — we went in for a Sunday roast once, but it looked so unappetising, we dined at the nearby(though more expensive) Jolly Cooper’s. Quite a few of the punters are Royal Oak(on Oak Avenue in Hampton — about a mile away) refugees, and it shows. As the sheer number of TVs might tell you, this is very much a blokey, worky type pub. Not my type at all — I tend to avoid.
