A very good Indian restaurant with friendly staff. Worth booking at weekends and during wimbledon tennis.

This was our first time trying this Resturant. My first impression was that it feels cramped. We were sat at a table for 4 in the window by the door. It was not the warmest of evenings and we found this spot rather cold to sit in. The menu was extensive although the could do with reformatting it and reprinting. The staff were very attentive and sometimes a little over the top. That’s the gripes out of the way so onto the food. As I said there was lots to choose from for vegetarians and us Meat eaters. The quality of the food was great and I found the portions more than enough for my healthy appitite. I had toe large beers and the other guests had a bottle of wine and the nil came in at £100 so not too bad. I would defiantly go back again.

Always packed Friday and Saturday but they can also find you a spot to sit to wait if it’s full. Service a but un– smiley at times but always balanced out by the food. Been hundreds of times and will be a few hundred more.

Taste wise was ok(even though madras was not spicy), portions were very small. Service was good(probably too much sometimes but definitely not bad). They were also annoying regarding tastecard as they were refusing to accept 2 cards for 4 people in first place even though they didn’t when we made the booking over the phone! I won’t probably go there again.

Food okay. Ambiance nice. Price ridiculous. Service horrible. Arrived at 2:23 for lunch and sign said open. Door said open until 3pm. They made us feel like they were doing us a huge favor by allowing us to eat. We were the only ones there. We walked out £25 lighter at 3:05 and they still had the sign showing open. We had curry and rice each, with a diet soda.

Wonderful food experience. When we arrived the place was full and was asked if we had reserved we didn’t and by 10mins of waiting they gave us a table. The food was very tasty and different to your typical Indan dishes. I also asked to sample there Staff dish and they brought out a taster on the side. Good price’s for the area, Great Food, Good Service.

I have eaten here a few times and have liked it each time. Takeaway is just as good if you are in a hurry.

To say I love the Wimbledon Tandoori is an understatement… I lived in Wimbledon for just about four years and ate here religiously once a week. I know the menu by heart and all its delicious offers… Its by far my favorite restaurant in the world and when I go to London(usually once or twice a year) I eat there sometimes more than once. Oh Wimbledon Tandoori how I love thee… I even had an artist paint a portrait which hangs in my dining room. Maybe its because in the US the curry’s suck or maybe its because the Wimbledon tandoori is the best curry house in existence… you should stop by and see for yourself. I suggest a few nice big Cobra beers and maybe a pregame at the Dog and Fox beforehand to add to the experience.

Unfortunately, we didn’t even manage to taste the food that was much talked about. I was recommended this restaurant and reserved a table. My partner and I was shocked to been given a table in the private function area, where there was a dinner party going on and we was the only couple there and felt like we was intruding. We asked to be moved and waited 5 minutes to be told they was busy and so we left. Service was awful. I shall not be recommending this restaurant.

I must agree with a previous reviewer in that the butter chicken dishes served here are delicious. This is a reliably good Indian Restaurant with a vast, reasonably priced menu which does not impeed on the quality of the food. I think this is probably my favourite Indian Restaurant in London.

I love Butter Chicken but although a very popular dish in India(and in New Zealand!), it’s devilishly difficult to find a decent one here in the UK. Ta daaaa — we found it here, in the Wimbledon Tandoori — well worth a hike up the hill. It IS a small restaurant and therefore well worth reserving a table at the prime times(Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings), particularly away from the door which can be fairly draughty. They have a really good range of dishes, which are always well-cooked and beautifully presented. Spices are used with a gentle hand so your mouth will tingle, rather than feel as if its been burnt with a blow-torch! The waiters, although not always quick to attend, do try their very best to help and offer suggestions if you can’t really decide for yourself. There are also a wide range of wines available and the usual bottled beers — from ‘traditional’ Indian brews and more Westernised. Portions are always ample and leave you feeling gently stuffed, so a nice feeling(rather than having to roll down the hill). We paid £70 for a massive blow-out meal for 3, including starters and beers. Excellent value for a really decent, local Indian restaurant.
