I absolutely love the gym here. It has all the necessary equipment and more, even during busy times there are always machines free. It did get a bit annoying in January when the post Christmas ‘new year new you’ crowd were in, but thankfully it’s returned to normal now. I haven’t used the swimming pool or attended any classes here(I’ve tried to book on to some classes but they always seem to be full!), but I’ve heard good things.

Gym was fantastic! Had all the equipment that you need for every type of fitness activity. Was also pretty clean. Weight area was really big so there were plenty of machines for everyone. It did tend to get busy towards the later afternoon. One thing they could improve on is the showers in the locker rooms. A hot tub would be nice as well.

Wimbledon Leisure Centre is run by the same organization, Better, as 2 other pools I’ve used a lot recently(membership applies to all centres) and is similarly well managed. The pool is 30m(although shallow, max depth is 1.7m I think) and is open all day for general swimming on most weekdays, which is really nice because a lot of other centres have 2 nights or more restricted for clubs, women only etc. RIght now it’s a bit of a weird set up because it’s being refurbished so there are barriers round the pool which adds to the somewhat ugly atmosphere due to the low ceiling and dim lighting, hopefully the latter will be changed through the refurbishment. All in all though it’s good pool and is a lot quieter than the others I’ve been to so it’s great for lane swimming. The changing rooms are clean and modern(wetside change is being reburbished as well so should be really nice when it reopens); lockers are £1(returnable) and hairdryers are free. Careful as you step out of the changing rooms onto the gallery(nice original feature) — there’s a step which you can miss if you’re too busy checking out guys on the fitness floir below. Which would be embarrassing.

This is Wimbledon’s public leisure centre. Facilities include a 25m pool which has recently had the changing room refurbished. The changing rooms are mixed(male and female) with separate cubicals for individuals or families. They usually have a section of the pool cordoned off for lane swimming, but the pool doesn’t usually tend to get very busy. It’s quite clean both in the pool and chaging rooms. Other facilities include a gym(members only) and classes. They do not have badminton courts.
