I stopped here for a late week day lunch. I had the avocado chicken salad, which was surprisingly delicious. Tender, juicy, and fresh grilled chicken with fresh greens and avocado in a light vinaigrette with Parmesan and flaked salt. They had three real ales on tap but had and additional two engines and eight craft beers on tap. They offered several several bottled craft beers as well. Seating was comfortable and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Très sympathique bar. Jeune et accueillant. Une belle offre de déjeuner le dimanche midi. On y a aussi passé une bonne soirée. Nice cool place to have a drink in the evening or a lunch(roast) on sunday.

The William IV is just around the corner from me. It’s a lovely little pub with a great interior. Sadly it’s never been quite as popular as it deserves to be, and has changed managers a number of times in the past few years. In its current iteration, they’ve just launched a new menu with a new chef, and the food is pretty damn excellent, with a range of really good finger food, burgers and the likes. They usually have a few well-kept ales on tap, too. Well worth popping in if you’re in the area.

This isn’t our local but we like it so much we make it our local. Strolling around the area last night, warm weather, nowhere to be. We come across our old pal William and decide to stop for a drink or two. A chilled glass of white wine(or two), an American Pale ale and a Peroni later, we meandered home quite pleased with our happy hour hanging out the doors of William IV. First, the bartenders are very nice. The blonde in the lovely floral dress particularly sweet, chatting to me about wines and giving me a taste or two of some things I might like. I appreciate a pub with a decent wine list. Doesn’t need to be outrageous, just a few passable glasses for when the mood strikes. WIV pulls this off quite well with an entire board list of their current wines. Oh and £16 jugs of Pimms. Hard to pass up, next time Billy Boy. Sunday Roast til 3pm. Free wifi. £10 minimum on cards. Warm and inviting. No bullshit. See ya there.
