The River Bus(currently named MBNA Thames Clippers) is one of the best ways to get to and from Greenwich and take in all the major sights. What lets it down is the confusion you are faced with when trying to book a ticket. The more expensive sightseeing ticket offices tend to be more prominent and noone really offers an explanation. You get a small discount if you have an Oyster card but make sure to be well topped up before buying a ticket. The staff at Greenwich Pier were incredibly rude and unhelpful — I didn’t understand their directions even though the tourist information was visible from their window(i.e. they could have literally pointed it out, instead I wasted valuable time wondering around looking for a sign). And you need a ticket as well as your Oyster card which in this case only operates like a debit card — no simple touching in and out here. All this for a 10% discount, at £7.15 a shot every little helps!

When tubing gets a little dull, hop on a ferry, buy a beverage of choice, grab a seat, get comfortable, relax, and enjoy the views. Very picturesque and perfect way to snap a few great pictures from afar. Ferry operates every 20mins, and the ride from Westminster(Victoria Embankment) to Greenwich takes about 35 – 40 mins. Remember to hang on to your ticket because it will be checked once disembarked. And if you don’t have it, ferry conductor will throw you over board … without any floating device, so I was told :) Brits have a great sense of humor, don’t you know?!
