Crab Mayonnaise was a great small appetiser. Steak Frites were basic and Chicken & Prawn were sub-par so avoid those. The English red tasted like it had turned, so go for a different one. Sticky Toffee Pudding is a must for desert. We actually went back just for that desert a second time.

Excellent food, excellent service. Food is much better than the touristy fare near the river. They have a kids menu with decent choices. I got the steak frites, which came with a nice pat of herb butter and crispy, crunchy fries.

Good location and not far from Waterloo station. We arrived there quite early on sunday morning and have english breakfast there, sunday brunch. The portion is not big for the price you paid. It is not encourage for a big eater guy. And it took a bit of time to wait although the restautant is empty.

We split the pork belly and the chicken, prawns, & chorizo. Both dishes were superb. We were served a lovely olive oil & vegetable accompaniment with the delicious bread before the meal. The space is terrific, and we enjoyed the music that was playing over the sound system. Service was attentive and excellent. We loved it!

Hosted our party for 30 people last minute and I could not have asked for more. Good was great, the private space downstairs was just what we needed. Emi and Albert where so flexible and tried their best to make us feel at home. Emi should get promoted after tonight.

Went for Sunday lunch. My seatme reservation wasn’t on their system but they still seated my party of 7. Good for them. Most of my party had the the roast — Chicken and Beef. Meat was cooked perfectly. Beef nice and rare(but not the chicken!). Vegetables were carrots, parsnips and green beans all nicely cooked. Service was good. Nothing exotic but great food.

Got off Waterloo Station and started walking. I’m glad I found this place. Not crowded on a Sunday night, but don’t let that fool you. The food here is amazing. I had the pork belly dish. Soft and chewy center, with crispy skin. If you are Filipino and know Lechon Kawali, this is an elevated version. The sweet potato was a perfect pairing. I did have the onion soup. While sweet, it wasn’t something to write home about. But the dessert of tart and cheesecake is definitely worth writing home about. Too bad not all wines can be bought by the glass, so bring a larger party to enjoy the nice wines available.

Yes, yes, yes! We discovered this hidden gem on Unilocal, totally last minute. It was Friday night around 8:30 in the evening. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. We were asked if we had a reservation(which we didn’t). The restaurant was roughly 1⁄3 full. I started with a baked goat cheese appetizer. Now, I could eat cheese every day of my life, and let me tell you, this was phenomenal. Next was the lamb shank over potatoes. This lamb not only melted off the bone but also in my mouth. Probably some of the best lamb I’ve ever eaten. Dessert included a crème brulé and fruit crumble with warm custard, both tasted fresh. Service was great and seemed to be split among all three waiters. For two of us, we paid roughly 80£ which included one apéritif, two appetizers, two entrees, two desserts, and two bottles of sparkling water. There was a 12.5% gratuity included in the price. The location seemed a little sketchy(maybe because of the train station nearby). Otherwise, I don’t have a single complaint about this place.

Delicate decoration and graceful place. I ordered Scottish egg as starter because I supposed it is grilled pork: P Actually it is free Range pork in egg. Not my favorite but no false for the kitchen. I chose Welsh lamb rump medium as main course. Amazing tasting! My style! Yes, no missing my soft drink-lemon ice tea. Estimated 30 pounds in all. Not economical but worth trying in Saturday! Practically my previous plan is to try Italian restaurant Cotto but closed cause they are in holiday and will be back tomorrow. What a pity but lucky day for the British restaurant.

Thanks for the previous reviews. Great recommendation. We arrived in London very early this morning and wanted an early good old fashioned Sunday English roast dinner. Attentive service, choice of 3 roasts for under £15. We ordered 1 lamb and one rare roast beef. Generous serves, selection of green veggies on the side, perfectly cooked tender meat and roast veggies smothered in gravy topped with a massive Yorkshire pudding. Delicious.

I stumbled into this place one Friday night late when I was in London on business. I had spent some time wandering around looking for a good restaurant and it was worth it, this place was amazing. This place is low key and unassuming and I didn’t expect perfect food(like Michelin star quality), but that’s what I got. If you are in London, I would seek this place out– and if you are seeing something at the Old Vic– this is where you should eat before or after the show.

I visited the Waterloo bar and kitchen during an event so we had booked the downstairs room all to ourselves. While the upstairs looks like a lovely restaurant we were all pleasantly surprised to find out about the second room, which can be used for all sorts of private functions. There’s a small bar where you can order beer, wine and cocktails and there is even an option to put on your own music through an iPod or iPhone. The ceiling is a bit low though so I am not sure whether quite tall people would feel comfortable down there and it’s probably not suitable for dancing. We also had the chance to sample some canapés, fried shrimp, spring rolls and sausages, which were all delicious. That makes me excited to back and try some of the restaurant food to see how that compares to it. Overall I think it’s a nice venue for hire and you can have some pretty good events for 30 — 40 people.

I just dined at Waterloo Bar and Kitchen after reading rave reviews about it on Unilocal. And I must say, I have to agree with the reviews. Situated right by the Old Vic Theatre, this restaurant offers efficient and speedy service. The food is very tasty and priced quite reasonably — I really enjoyed the restaurant and would definitely go back in the future — another great find!

Came here not knowing what to expect, and was delighted! The menu has lots on offer and it all sounds good. And there are chalkboards with specials and wines on offer as well. Wonderful! More to choose from. And we did choose some of the nicest, tastiest dishes that evening, along with a lovely bottle of wine that seemed to be corked, and when the manager tasted it, she promptly brought new glasses and another bottle, and the wine was fine. Excellent service, the place was heaving and still our waiter was attentive. Enjoy!

Excellent service and cuisine. I had the spinach/bacon/avocado salad, the ribeye steak with green beans and the cheese plate. All were excellent. The green beans were perfectly cooked… most times in restaurants they are overcooked. The bernaise sauce was very good also. I highly recommend.

Stumbled across this place by accident. There was nothing appealing from the outside. Walked past it all the time when I used to live in London. Just spent Thanksgiving in London and met up with old friends for dinner. He suggested this place and I was surprised. He is in the wine business and his other half writes about wine in some wine publications. He sworn the food is good. So ended up there one night. There is an extensive wine list, the food is good. Started with a salad, the dressing was well balanced. My main course was Grilled Thai Spiced Sea Bass with Coconut Rice & Shrimp. I was concerned that it could be too spicy. No it was not and it was just the bit of kick you needed in the dish. My buddy’s steak was more well done than medium rare, but the favor is there. The other pal’s cod is good too. I would definitely go for it if I am in town.

Popped here for a pre-theatre dinner with a work friend of mine. She has a gluten allergy and to be fair they were very accommodating. It helped that she had a really good amount of choice, even on the pre-theatre menu. But the staff were not good. They looked miserable to be there, unhelpful in taking orders and were not qick despite them knowing that everyone there was on pre-theatre which gives you a finite timeline. Having said that, the food came in good portions and was rather tasty. I went for a squid and chorizo salad to satart — the squid was a bit rubbery but the chorizo was lovely, nice big chunks. Then a vegetarian main of pasta, asparagus, tomatoes and a pesto dressing. Classic flavours that aren’t difficult to do. Portion was a bit large. The wine that we picked was crisp, dry yet fruity — a really nice touch. I felt depressed to be in there though, it’s not good having that kind of downtrodden atmosphere before seeing a play!

Quite pleasant serviceable upmarket gastropub fare — without the pub part. crispy duck salad haloumi piled vertically(why do cooks treat food like three dimensional sculpture toys?) with good vegetables and a fine sauce. both the duck and the haloumi were first rate. prices are fair. london is filled with restaurants i will remember until the day i die … but between carry-to-the-grave happy memories — you can eat all the meals you like here — and never be unhappy. solid lovely place.
