This gym is in a convenient location just opposite hendon tube station it has a car park behind but it is very small and sometimes you have to wait awhile before a space becomes available. The gym is quite small however I usually stay in the women’s section and this is very small! one major problem i have with this gym is it never never puts on the air conditioning and the gym is always hot! Overall it is always very clean don’t have to wait around for equipment although having said that I went for the first time on a Tuesday just after 7 and there was not a free machine! So I guess it depends on the time you go.

The personal trainers are not very helpful unless you want to pay them for some personal training sessions. There is no customer service as they are not replying to online enquiries and the staff at the reception is not great either. It is incredibly overpriced at £68 a month! The gym itself is in a great location and is very well equipped.

I’m a night owl as you may be able to tell by my reviews. I stay up very late. I’m also an exercise fiend when not under a negative cosmic or hormonal influence:) No seriously, I exercise at least one hour every day including brisk walking. I used to belong to Virgin Active and I spent many happy hours in this gym late in the evening in their pool and jacuzzi and using their new cardio equipment. This club offers clean modern facillites and a good sized pool. There are many classes at this club but sadly when I joined they were done with Hula Hoop enhanced aerobics. This club stays open late. If you join Virgin you can decide whether you want a premium membership meaning you can use all clubs with out paying or just some clubs. I choose the cheaper version(crap.always choosing the cheaper version-see Poundland review) but I still got to use Hendon even though my main branch was Oxford circus. Virgin is a good club.

Virgin Active is great, just like everything else Mr Branson puts his money into. The Barnet club is great, I had a membership whereby I cold use all V. A gyms in the whole of the UK, bar four gyms that are of a higher standard, all being in London. Being from Tottenham/Wood Green, I did on the occasion work out in the Wood Green branch, which is dingy, so I usually went to the Barnet club, which is superior in comparison All the Active gyms have great facilities, but some are larger than others. For all you guys who are looking for motivation, there are some amazing bodies in there, and it helps inspire you to work out and ask one of those toned and well kept ladies out. I tried a few, but was turned down on each occasion, which has inspired me to renew my membership and get fitter so that one might one day say yes to a drink. What is also really great about the Virgin Active gyms is that they provide a monthly membership. With V. A you can renew every month and if you want to cancel you contract, you have to let them know by letter by the 17th, giving two weeks notice.

This place offers everything for a great workout and pampering. As you don’t want to exhaust yourself too much before your workout, it is conveniently located directly opposite Hendon Central tube station. It is one of the larger chains and although you pay a little extra in your membership, it does offer a swimming pool. The fees are a little steep at about £60 a month for top membership. However, if you visit the place 3 times or more, you will get your money’s worth as the gym, all classes and use of pool, sauna and steam room are all included and oh, did I mention, it also has a big jacuzzi, bliss. The changing rooms are huge, clean with ample space for the lockers. The choice of different types of classes is ample, offering anything from Yoga to kick boxing. After all that exertion, reward yourself in the café/juice bar with something healthy of course!
