I love Veg Bar with all my heart. They’re the reason I went vegan — around the same time that they did actually! We had a small blip where our delivery took a couple of hours to reach us, but their(in)famous FGV burger is so delicious that it was worth the wait. Plus, I didn’t have to cook it, so I probably would have waited another two hours! A new revelation is vegan fish and chips. I’ve only tried this once before, elsewhere, and thought it was delicious, so I was super excited to find it on the new Veg Bar menu! Where I’m taking a friend who is new to Brixton out, craving some Mac and Cheese after a long day at work, or nursing a hangover after a big night out, they’re the first place I turn to.

Disappointing return. I have seen much activity on social media regarding the Veg Bar, shame they couldn’t put the same effort into the food. I had the«famous» FGV burger, from frozen patties and from frozen chips(cajun fries), no presentation, and in January on sale at £10. Honestly felt like a bad joke. To expect people to pay more for such low quality food is laughable at best, insulting at worst. My friend had the tofish side, did taste remarkably like battered fish, cost £6 as a starter, £10 as a main with frozen chips. Again, pricing not relating to quality. This place could really do with some fresh, green vegetables in their dishes. And some innovative chefs that understand pre-processed food does not make for a good dining experience. From what I understand there have been a large number of chefs that have been and gone since they opened. The service was slightly better than last time, still took longer than usual. Thank god for the pool table, helps ease the pain. Only one other couple in at the same time, and orders were sitting, getting cold, whilst long conversations went on between staff who outnumbered eaters. Just can’t understand why they haven’t got their shit together yet. If vegans weren’t stuck for places to go, this place would be long gone.

After being to a event here held by Unilocal,I had to come check out the menu as I absolutely loved the food here. Now I’m not a vegan but I do like having a change every once in a while. When I came I had the FGV Burger with Cajun Fries and for dessert I had the chocolate cake with strawberry compote and vegan vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was lush. The cake was nice but I found it too heavy and not as moist as I would like. The FGV burger was lovely but I found it a little dry as there was very little sauce in it. I had s cocktail which was refreshingly lovely. I don’t remember the name but it was sol beer in a pint glass with slices of lime and a shot of tequila. I really enjoyed it. Me and my friend had a really good time and I know she will come back as she works in the area. If I am ever craving vegan comfort food then I know I will come back here. It is far but so worth it!!!

The Veg Bar is great. My wife and I got the FGV burgers with a side of Mac and Cheese, and they were amazing. The burgers did remind me of Big Macs quite a bit. The venue is cute and they serve beers as well. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

Let’s be frank, the average John or Jane Doe may see ‘100% vegan restaurant’ located near Brixton and be concerned about lack of variety, lack of flavour, and maybe some drug-infused brownies? But fear not… Here you can find familiar-looking comfort food such as macaroni cheese and burger and fries made even tastier than their typical non-vegan counterparts. There are also a whole host of options to choose from on their in-restaurant blackboards as it is clear that the dishes they rustle up are done so with personal pride, creativity and passion for fresh vegan cooking. Yes Veg Bar seems hidden away at the very fringe of Brixton but with everything it has to offer from the cosy diner atmosphere complete with pool table and open-kitchen on the ground floor to the funky downstairs dancefloor and bar area, Veg Bar has tremendous potential as a great venue for an event or for a cordial lunch or supper. Ultimately, Veg Bar is like an undiscovered gem. You would do well to go discover it for yourself and reap the rewards. Already serving up many a treat, Veg Bar will undoubtedly go from strength to strength.
