The White Swan

Well this has become a favorite destination for lunch and drinks after the office… Intimate place to enjoy a pint, like many in central London. Hard to not compliment the Fish and Chips here and many of the local pubs as well… It’s just delightful to enjoy the variety of local British and European brews. I’m sure being in London with friends has a lot do with the overall sense of enjoyment here, but nonetheless nice place.

Came here for a late night blues dancing event. What a vibe! They turned off the lights at night and lit the whole thing up with candles. It was a fantastic atmosphere. This pub has two floors.

This pub stands out in the strangest of times. It seems to be a bit of a family run affair which is a great thing in this day and age. With a strange two floor layout of disjointed rooms and sky news on the television 15ft up next to the bar. I have visited on a number of occasions and my last visit was on a day when nothing was open around Fleet Street for lunch on Friday 2^nd Jan. I was so pleased that we were warmly greeted into the White Swan that day for lunch and a pint. They serve Guinness, Real ale, Heineken, a nice selection of wines. They have a pool table downstairs and a quiz machine by the top of the stairwell too.
Food is available at lunchtimes and limited to pub grub. Expect a menu of Jacket potatoes, sandwiches, fish and chips, burgers and fillings like chicken escalope, chilli con carne and the jacket potato with chilli con carne and cheese is an inspired choice. Lunch and a pint is around the £10 mark.

The food here is really nice, the salads are large and fresh, the burger is always good and there is a good selection of wine availalbe. The pub itself has a rustic feel to it, with long wooden benches and wooden floors (a bit unsure about the stuffed swan over the door) and a really high ceilings. This is a great place for lunch or to pass an afternoon with wine and friends.
