The Wellcome Trust

I went for the first time today to the Sexology Exhibition which, while it could have included more depth about the Kinsey studies etc., was fascinating, well-​thought through, and very human as well as scientific (which was great, because they could have presented the manner from a very clinical angle).
I also had a browse through the Genomes collection: they had the entire DNA sequencing of a human being detailed over several volumes, which is simply nothing like I have ever seen before.
And, best of all, it was all free! A great place to visit.

The trust that spends billions on health sciences. Visit the trust for regular exhibitions that are an excellent eye opener.

The Wellcome Trust is many things, but most importantly for the visitor it includes an extensive exhibition space for the biological sciences and arts. There is usually a temporary exhibition, which lasts for a few months, along with a more permanent display. Good for an hour or two of education, along with a good café and book shop on the ground floor after.

The Wellcome Trust is actually a charity which funds research into human and animal health. In June 2007 they opened a new exhibition venue called The Wellcome Collection which now holds both permanent and temporary exhibitions which aim to break the boundaries between science and art. Perhaps because it is new not many people know about it but I really do recommend a visit. Their permanent exhibitions include ‘Medicine Man’ and ‘Medicine Now’ and there will soon be a new exhibition ‘Sleeping and Dreaming’ as of 29^th Nov. I was actually lucky enough to see some live heart surgery (nope, not joking!) there at the beginning of November. This is the second time they’ve done this so keep an eye out on their website if you’re interested in that kind of thing! The best bit is it’s all free.
