Mmm, soup! I am actually a giant fan of soup and so when I saw there was a place that is all about the soup, I was all about going there. And when I had a chance meeting that happened to be here, well, it was all the better. The Soup Larder doesn’t actually just do soup, but soup and pizza. When you walk in, there’s a long counter with handwritten items on brown paper hanging on the wall. It’s very easy to figure out what you want, because there’s only about eight choices(four or five soups and two or three pizzas.) They come in large or jumbo sizes(so I guess, really, medium or large sizes?) and you can order extras in like croutons, bacon or crispy onions. I got a sweet corn and prawn soup and it was tasty. Thick, rich, full of flavour(although I added a bit of Siracha just because I like it spicier). I added in bacon, which was clearly the right choice, and was very happy with my meal. Now, they’re clearly a new biz who doesn’t quite have everything together yet. When I ordered, I had to tell them my size a few times. Also, the bread wasn’t ready when we ordered and although she said she’d bring it out in a few minutes, we actually had to go back up to the counter to ask for it. They’re also not taking card payments yet, but said that would change. But still, it was quality food, quick, and in a good location. Soups are about £7 and come with bread. A nice new lunch spot for sure.

Went to The Soup Larder to meet in a brief Unilocal CM catch up. A welcome respite in a busy road location near Aldgate Station. Liked the concept of soup and pizza, simple and quick. I tried the green soup(free taster, although a bit awkward in a plastic spoon) but opted for the Chicken Soup which was then topped with mushrooms and dried onion and free fresh warmed bread. Had a delicious Coopers Pale Ale to go with. Think they could speed up the process by having two people help serve(one preparing and one on the till. All and all I thought great value for money.

I stumbled upon The Soup Larder by accident and decided to venture in. It turned out to be a fantastic decision! They offer a selection up 6 or 7 different soups with a couple of veggie options and 2 different size portions. You also have the opportunity to carnivore up the veggie ones if they take your fancy. Each portion is served with a fantastic bread roll with olive oil although this can be replaced with mushroom chippings. Prices are really reasonable and most importantly, the soup itself was delicious. As Arnie says… I’ll be back!
