Good for watching sports but that’s about it. Food is very mediocre and they do that infuriating thing of playing music so loud you can’t have a conversation.

We had just about everything from their starter menu as we didn’t fancy ordering a big meal each. It was actually a really good way to do it, sharing various dishes between the four of us. There was wide selection of choices on the menu and I was impressed with the presentation as well as the quality of the food. The pub itself is friendly and cosy. It’s great for groups and dogs are welcome inside.

Wonderful atmosphere, plenty of room in the garden area out back, very good food, and wide selection of beers. There’s also a little library in the side with a couch, so that adds a nice touch. If you find yourself in the Peckham area looking for a bar, check out The Rye!

Decent place where you can get something delicious for to-go. Fish and chips is amazing and the staff are the most polite people I’ve ever met.

my new local but no bias here. was at the arse-end of a 4 day bender for my 30th birthday and came in for a roast. was not disappointed. great pork, crackling, was steaming hot and far from stingy. the pub itself looks great, has a massive rear garden and some decent seating out the front to watch the world go by. the staff were friendly, apart from one girl who was clearly overrun. oh bless. but cheer up a bit eh? also the crowd can be a high percentage of dickheads

Gorgeous pub– modern and cosy décor, fabulous food(especially their fish and chips and burgers), lovely garden, live music, a good selection of beers, deals throughout the week and sporting events played on a screen. Avoid during the day at the weekend though, unless you want to feel like you’re sitting in a crèche(which is not the pubs fault– and they have allocated the front of the bar to ‘adults only’, but young parents do insist on letting their ‘adorable’ offspring run around screaming). Really homely with a lovely vibe at all other times though!

The most important thing about the Rye presently is that they are selling the incredible meatwagon burgers( , @themeatwagonuk) at least until the summer finally gives up. I go just for that, but the pub is nice as well. Open fire, friendly staff, outdoor tables for those sunny days, serving meantime and their own beer(which, bucking the trend of pub-own beer, is actually decent). They seem to be quite involved in the current street food boom, having hosted street food festivals and Buen Provecho regularly pitching up on Mondays to sell their excellent tacos. @TheRyeSE15

The Meatwagon is in residence at The Rye this Summer and that means great burgers all round. Pair this with a half decent beer and this chilled pub seems pretty good. The landlord is very friendly and the locals are pretty welcoming. There’s also a proper fire if it gets a bit chilly. Prices aren’t particularly cheap, but then the pub is pretty good.

Things are looking set for yet another fine summer in Peckham and the outlook just got even better when I popped into The Rye this weekend. The Meatwagon crew seem to have found a bit of a park up for the time being and may well be here until Capital Pubs turn their attention to a refurb in the autumn. I don’t think this will last long but there was plenty of room and a choice of tables no standing in line to get in the door or raffle tickets yet. There was Weasel, the Capital Pubs in house brew, and Black Sheep from the cask and a good looking wine list. The pub itself looks pretty much the same as before it was sold last month but there is already a real buzz about the place. Yet again it’s a real pleasure to be served by staff who are passionate about what they are doing. The lack of punters meant that my cheeseburger arrived before I was even halfway through my pint. It was a mighty fine example of the grill chef’s art and was beautifully presented on a very fetching paper plate. Probably the finest burger in town, although I have yet to try the Hawksmoor burger, this bad boy was juicy and full of flavour. It had a lovely char and came in the trademark sourdough bun. I got into conversation with a couple on a nearby table and was kindly offered a few of their fries which I can report are a significant improvement on the one’s I tasted at the Goldsmiths Arms. Next week is the start of the sixteen days: sixteen hawkers: one pub event when you may well taste some of the best street food to be currently found in this great city of ours. I believe The Meatwagon crew will be back behind the grill on the 1st. Happy days indeed.

The Rye Hotel is a new local favourite of mine. I believe it is under new management so I am not sure what it was like a few years ago but now it has a laid back vibe with good food, stylishly shabby interior and a huge beer garden. There is quite a large gay following but really it has quite a diverse mix of clientele. Infact I would say that part of its appeal is due to this harmonious mix of customers.

I have only been to the Rye(near the green in Peckham Rye) a couple times, but it makes for a rather pleasant time. Perhaps more suited to a family pub rather than a pub for London hipsters or old men, but this can be quite refreshing. The beer garden is actually really nice, especially for London, although the perfectionist in me did get a little annoyed that it slanted a bit too much. The interior has a rejuvenated rustic feel and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The bar had a great selection of drinks to offer, and the menu did look quite inviting, however far too expensive for my wallet. I think that the Rye is probably best suited to a lazy Sunday afternoon when you feel that you can«relax your purse strings» a little.

I like Peckham Rye. It is nicer than Peckham, don’t be conned by it’s name. The park is lovely. And this pub is really nice too. I have never used it as a hotel, but I have had a few drinks here and once also a Sunday Roast. Now Sunday roasts at pubs are very important to me, they are a big decider on the quality of the pub. The one here was £12 for meat and all the trimmings. Because of the grandness of the pub I did not mind coughing up. Also, the chocolate orange pudding is fab. This pub is really friendly and lots of people come with their children for a bit to eat. It is also really good in the summer when you can sit in the beer garden with friends and have a few chilled out ‘bevvies’. It is a little pricey for the area, but really nice atmosphere and location makes it worth it!

The Rye is a very comfortable pub in nice surroundings with Peckham Rye Common withing spitting distance. It’s fairly expensive for a South London pub with drinks around the £3-a-pint mark but the atmosphere is very relaxed and with food served every day. There’s a fireplace for those cold evenings and even an outdoor seating area in a huge canvas tent outside. The clientèle is mostly Dulwich types and there’s a pub quiz on a Wednesday night.
