The Ring

The Ring is ideally located at the exit of the Southwark station and fairly close to my place so i’ve here a few times for an end-​of-​the-​day pint or two (or three).
The pub looks great from the inside and out and the decoration revolves around the theme of boxing, hence the name. Apparently, there used to be a boxing ring right across from its location.
You’ll find a sitting area outside (it’s heated) and a small pub and then dinning area inside.
The service is nice and quick. They accept credit cards. I usually order the London Lager, and i would recommend it.
In the evening it gets crowded rapidly and you will appreciate the horde thrown up the entrance, gathering around the heaters while smoking and chatting loudly, rather tipsy and stumbling on one another. Cute. (or not, if it’s not your thing).
The toilet area is very small but always clean and tidy.

Staying around the corner from this cute little place. The first night we stumbled in and it was raining out so the bartender recommended a warm cider, it was served with an orange wedge, and we absolutely loved it. We finished off the night with some of the best chicken strips I have probably ever had and some french fries with a garlic aoli sauce to dip. We also shared the Caesar salad it wasn’t our favorite, but still ok. But the service is great and so are the drinks and I hear the hot dogs are the best. All in all, this place is out fave in Southwark. You must try the chicken strips!!!

Staff was excellent and very friendly. Beer was great. We had the pancakes (small order) with sausage & bacon, the Cole slaw, the Big Frank, & my wife had the Huge Pole…(I can’t make this up). Very pleased w/​everything. Great Sunday night in London with the wife & kids. Looking forward to trying bangers & mash next… It looked delicious.

Netter kleiner Pub, direkt gegenüber der Subway Station Southwark gelegen.
Total gemischtes Publikum (vom Banker bis zum Rugbyfan in entsprechender Kleidung war alles vertreten). Gute Atmosphäre in der man sich sofort wohl fühlt und schnell ins Gespräch kommt.
Wir haben Cider u. Heineken getrunken. Auch kleine Gerichte (Fish & Chips, Bürger) werden serviert (sahen lecker aus).

London Corner Pub with Hotdogs. Although I felt the barman might judge me for ordering the Big Frank and asking him to smother it in Onions and ram a few chips in there too. He did not. When the Big Frank came I felt I wouldn’t be able to tackle the length. But here I am, that Frank got Smashed and I’d even go back again for another although I will probably leave it a few weeks to recover. As I had a few pints of Doombar also. Love a bit of Doombar.

great pub in this area. fantastic beer selection. why don’t more pubs carry the great new wave of british craft ales? be thankful this exists as not much else in the area.

Der Pub fällt einem als erstes ins Auge, wenn man die Southwark U-​Bahn Station verläßt. Der Gastraum ist eher klein, aber recht gemütlich (und war bei unserem Besuch zur Lunchtime komplett voll). An Speisen werden Bar Food und Thaigerichte in Durchschnittsqualität angeboten. Das Publikum ist sehr gemischt. Man hat den Eindruck, daß wirklich JEDER dort einkehrt: Anwohner, Banker, Durchreisende
Auf jeden Fall interessant!

The place looks nice, but my experience in this pub was not. We waited very long until we were served. It turned out that the kitchen and the bar are operated seperately.
The waitress was rude and brought not the meal I ordered, even though there were just two guests in the pub.
The food was ok and the price of about 8 pounds for a dish is reasonable. But I suppose the food wasn’t fresh. Both of us had collywobbles after the meal.
I would not go there again.
