The Real Greek

We stumbled across The Real Greek and ended up having a wonderful meal! Very fresh, flavorful and authentic. The best part was our server… The one and only Cameron. He was fun, energetic and made great meal suggestions. Our only complaint is that there was way too much food for just the 2 of us to eat. Leftovers are going to going with us for a midnight snack. We’ll be back!

Nice set menu for 10 pounds per person with a choice of 4 items.
We ordered from the regular menu and got flatbread, spicy feta dip, grilled haloumi, and grilled calamari. My least favorite was spicy feta dip. The grilled haloumi and calamari were both delicious, and the pickled salad and vegetables they came with were the perfect accompaniments to the grilled food. The salad was reminiscent of cole slaw which I don’t normally enjoy, but this was really delicious and added some much needed freshness and texture to the plate, I may have enjoyed that more than the cheese itself. The girls next to us ignored their pickled salad and only ate the cheese, and I contemplated grabbing it off their table and eating it myself, but held back.
They also had a girl singing live with her guitar which was quite nice. I would have liked to listen to some Greek music rather than Adele but it still was a nice touch!

I went here to catch up with a good friend who I hadn’t seen for nearly a year!
So, we walked and and were greeted immediately, but a smiling waitress, she offered us up a table but it was in between two other couples so we asked for a different table which wasn’t a problem at all and she let us sit there.
We ordered drinks and they came immediately.
We asked for some tips on what we should order and how much of it as it is all Meze style dishes, so it wasn’t a starter and main kind of dinner.
We had hummus and tzatziki with flatbread to start off with, it was really good to be fair, and we demolished it.
The «mains» came out and they quickly, although they forgot one of the dishes, but they quickly rectified that.
The mini beef patties were awesome and tasted so good, three dishes were good, the chicken skewers were burnt and I couldn’t actually taste the chicken just the black burnt bits.
The service was really good in parts, random in other parts. There was a waiter that shared the fact his had irritable bowel syndrome, that is girlfriend is Greek and lots of other random gems of information. He seemed to genuinely want us to have a great evening but at times it was a case of «enough already… Please leave us in peace».
We left our table a couple of times to sit out the front to have a cigarette and they put the heaters on for us and we’re smiling and happy, a chap who must be the owner or manager was making jokes and had us laughing.
We finished our food and they let us be for sometime after we had eaten to stop and talk with no pressure to get us moving!
All in all a lovely evening. It’s not a high end place, nor does it pretend to be.
It is what it is and they do that well.
Will definitely be back.

Awesome food and great service! Also, a very cute interior… Great for a date or night out.
They have a great «for two» option to mix and match a number of small plates, and everything is favorable and tasty.
Get the dolmas, gigantes beans, and falafel — you won’t be disappointed!
