I think my review will have to reflect the review of Jack and say that since their new chef started, the prices have gone up to extortionate levels compared to the happy and cheerful prices for Sunday roast before. Now it is an eye watering £17.50 and I am pretty sure when I visited a few months back it was closer to the £11.50 range. That and coupled with lack of spaces for parking means I am not coming back again. The food itself is not bad although we had to ask for extra gravy as there just wasn’t enough to slop your yorkshire pudding all over. Also, I would recommend ordering either the beef or pork Sunday roast as the lamb one only had 3 slices of meat. The chicken somehow could not be ordered unless two are sharing. Service is not bad but not top notch. I couldn’t decide whether it’s because the waitress was new or whether she just had an awkward vibe about her. Wasn’t super impressed with the cleaniness of the drink glasses as my lemonade smelt a bit like alcohol.

I first came here in September with my girlfriend for a Sunday roast and was very happy with the food, the service and the price. After being closed for a few months, and a few attempts to go back for another roast, we finally got seated in a not so nice seating area and felt unwelcome. The«new menu» sign outside was welcoming and inviting, but soon walked straight back out once I saw the price had nearly DOUBLED for near enough the same meal we had five months earlier. This bar and restaurant is the only convenient and nice in the Gallions Reach area and am seriously let down by the attempt of rising prices by a ridiculous amount just to attract a different clientele. They have completely destroyed it for me personally, by completely changing the nice, comfortable, and mostly affordable restaurant it used to be, and for certain won’t be going back.

The Reach is a nice little hidden gem tucked away in East London. That being said, you must visit. I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. It’s a nice quaint little eatery situated near Gallions Reach and University of East London. Pop over in the evening for a nice meal or closer to the weekends when they have live music. A few favorites: The goat cheese salad and beef tomato. Both are delicious and elegantly prepared. Try for yourself! Please!
